The 4-5 piece French wardrobe #7

I like those ^^ :flower: Unfortunately my feet have non existent heels and slip out of open shoes too easily, so I usually need some sort of straps to keep them in place. Which quickly reduces the sexiness of the shoe, usually... Actually, I have a few requirements when it comes to heels that I should probably mention:

  • Must be available in size 35.
  • 7 cm heel height is perfect. 8 is maximum, unless they are platforms.
  • I can wear a narrow heel, but obviously something a little more substantial is preferable.
  • Like mentioned above, they must have some sort of straps to keep them in place. Ankle strap, mary jane, t-bar, cross straps, whatever.
  • I think I'm going for a neutral colour - black, navy or nude perhaps.

^Repetto has a T-bar model called Baya. It has a 7cm heel, comes in a size IT34/FR35 (I don't remember what is a EU35 right now), I believe. The size chart has it in range at least, although I can't find it on their website. It comes in many different versions. They have like 5 kinds of black:lol:

I think they are cute:flower: But ankle straps are more formal, I think. Depends on what you want.

They have other models as well. Some have regular ankle straps.

I love this rusty coloured blouse and NEED it. Does anyone know where i can find it?

I went to COS today and saw the fabrics and didnt understand why people raved so much about COS. They use a lot of nylon and their merinowool was so fragile. I would never pay money for that.

Then I went to United Colours of Benneton and saw some basics but didnt like them that much.

Eventually went to Massimo Dutti and fell in love with their basics. They have a lot of wool/silk combo.

^I have never seen merino wool that did not look fragile to be honest. I always assumed it was just how merino wool was... My COS stuff still looks great though, after a lot of wear. For heavier, denser knits, I go for cashmere, personally. I wear merino wool in the spring-summer-fall, so the lack of thickness doesn't bother me:P However, if you are looking for warm sweaters, the kind of merino wool found in our price range might not be ideal... Maybe someone can recommend brands within our budget that sell thicker merino wools?

Regarding nylon, I think we have discussed it before in the thread, but a small percentage of Nylon can improve the quality of wool. I don't quite remember, but I think it had something to do with giving it more structure? I have noticed that chunky statement knit sweaters often contain nylon. However, I wouldn't buy something with 20% nylon even if the piece looked great... My hair looks horrible and very frizzy when static:lol:

I also looked for Damas' shirt when I saw the picture, but had no luck. I am not sure what the shirts true color is though, because there is an unatural hue in her photographs, I think.

I am pretty sure that nylon can be good or helpful in knitwear, since it helps to keep the shape. Chunky knit in 100% tends to stretch a lot due to the weight.

^Thats what I thought, but I couldn't remember quite how it was. My heavy wool coat has nylon in it.

I wonder is there is a noticable difference in how static various synthetics are, and how they breathe. It is difficult to tell in a dressing room...

Thanks about explaining about nylon. But when I was in COS I saw some jumpers with bad seams and some with small holes in them. And they didnt have normal basic jumpers. Most of them wear short or had the ugly elbow patches. So annoying haha. But thank god I found a good jumper in Massimo Dutti.

^They had holes? They should not be in the store, but sent back...:judge: Think of the poor girl who buys it without looking over it thoroughly... I was in one of the luxury stores in my town once, and a 300 GBP wool sweater had a hole on the elbow. I reported it, and I have wonder if they actually sent it back... It is a large sum of money, and a I am sure not all buyers would notice the hole...

Did you buy the MD jumper?

Yes Ive bought it. Its a classic navy simple one.
And I didnt buy the vintage acne tall pistol boots eventually. I somehow didnt like them. I guess I will look for riding boots, thats more my style.

That's a great suggestion, thanks! :flower:

I quite like the Baya model, though I have been considering something with a more pointy toe. It's a little more grown up, which I think I need after being told an alarming amount of times lately how young I look...

The Anya and Varese are really nice too, but why are they 110 GBP more than the Baya?

A COS has very recently opened in here! I've been excited about it but have been avoiding it because I think I'd rather stay away from it before the sales season

Regarding that dress I bought - I'm still considering keeping it, as I like how it looks on me and the fabric is really nice, but I think the cape is too formal a detail. My mum says the cape detail makes it look horrible
And I was thinking whether it would be worth it to have the cape removed? I mean... I feel weird about buying items to have them altered in such a way, but on the other hand, it is rare for me to find a dress that I think fits my body and isn't too short on me... It would be a nice sleeveless dress that way.

^I would keep it considering how much you like it and remove the cape if it can be done nicely and cheap. I've done the same with two hooded jackets.

@Jina: nice to "see" you as well - have you posted any pictures of your SS purchases?

Regarding traveling style, I found that it really helped me to piece together a capsule wardrobe consisting of perhaps 10 pieces. I did mine thinking of what I mainly wear at home and since I wear the same things over and over it was pretty easy to build a versatile travel wardrobe.

Yes, I was posting my recent purchases in the thread What did you buy today regularly. I didn't even had a chance to wear my new French Connection dress, since we have been having such a mild/cold-ish summer this year. I am going to the seaside in a week, so hopefully I will be able to wear it at least once.
I did get a Kurt Geiger bag in London that I posted a while ago and love it! It holds it's shape quite well, but not so much when carrying heavy stuff in it. But obviously I don't usually have as much things with me on a daily basis as I do while traveling (a camera etc.). I will post the other items I got in the thread I mentioned above. I shopped in Uniqlo for the fist time too! ^_^ And found out they are offering ridiculously cheap merino wool knitwear and are also shipping to my country.
Also, a year old GAP merino wool V-neck sweater's life has ended due to my washing mashine. I just can't be bothered to wash all my knitwear by hand and usually mascine washing at 30C agrees with majority of wool pieces, but not this one. It look like felt and it has shrunk so much it is almost unwearable. :S
Regarding the FW list I don't have it yet, but I already found a great winter coat, which I need, at & Other Stories and will probably order it online in the next few months. I will start working full time in the end of September, so will probably need additional items. A dress code there is pretty casual, so I won't need excessively formal clothing.

^The black wool trench coat?

@Caramel: I was twice mistaken for a 14-16 year old last year when I went bare faced... I was 21:rolleyes: Always wear makeup!

Yes, that one. :shifty: I saw it in burgundy shade (which wasn't so nice TBH, kinda dull) in store and it looked really nice and warm. The cut is similar to the regular trench I have from the last year, just shorter and it is really flattering.

I've always looked young, and it's never bothered me much before, but recently I've started overanalyzing and worrying a bit about not being taken seriously because of it, especially in regards to career. Both my parents and my grandparents look a lot younger than they are so I know it's just my genes, but I hope I can compensate a bit with how I dress at least. And you are right, makeup is important! I'm wondering if I should start wearing my glasses more too, they make me look a little bit more serious.

I've been looking at shoes some more, and came upon the Okala pumps from Sam Edelman. At first I was hesitant about the wide ankle strap, but after seeing them on a foot I actually quite like them. They seem to get very good reviews about being comfortable, and someone said they were great if you had high arches and inflexible feet, which I do.

What do you guys think?

I have Sam Edelman sandals or years now and they are like new. Very comfortable and the leather is butter soft. All in all the quality is superior, especially for the brand's price point, so I would say go for them!
