Nothing wrong with the navy dress, but this maroon/plum sheath/pencil dress you idea blew my mind. If you find one, tell me!:woot:

I have wanted a dress like this since I was 13 and grew hips. And in plum...:blush: * Swoons *

@Caramel: I defintely don't think that it looks too girly! Also, you can do a lot of things with styling, to prevent looking to young. Just by adding heels and a clutch, you already look more grown up and put together, I think.

So I have thinking a lot about Melisandes sister's "Don't try to make what you need into what you want; make what you want into what you need.", since I really applies to this sweater that I have my eye on. I really don't need new knitwear, I have what I will need to get through winter (black o-neck pullovers, grey sweater, stripe sweater, long, grey cardigan), but I really love it. It is a navy tartan sweater, and it is a bit more loose-fitted than what I already have. Since I do not have a lot on my NEED-list, nor my wishlist, I was thinking if I should get it, despite the fact that the price is a bit steep. Right now my main reason for not getting is it the fact that it is tartan, since it is so on trend ATM (not that I care much for that), that I am fearing I might not like it so much next year. I don't really follow trends, so I don't care if it goes out of style, and I think it is, somewhat, classic. Opinions, please!

I have been trying to convince myself that a burnt orange corduroy suit with bellbottoms is a classic lately. I think somthing can be very classic in the way that it would be very "typically you".

@Caramel: I can see why you think that styling opportunities are limited, but I think it is quite versatile (for a dress - just like Melisande I think that a dress just is more limted in regards of styling, than say, a skirt and a top).

I could see it with both black, nude, red, purple, dark green and tan shoes (same goes for clutch), with red lipstick, pink lipstick, with a short cardigan, with a blazer, with a kimono (I actually wore a full skirted dress layered with a kimono for an event last weekend), with pumps, with strappy (heeled) sandals, with ballet flats. With a small bag or a bigger bag. With your hair down or up.

I know all of these options might not be your style, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Or it didn't happen? Sorry, I forgot. Here you go.

And  Perhaps you are right. My thought was, anyway, that even though tartan is all over the place ATM, I don't think it is a sweater that screams "SO AW2014!"

Well, based on the facts that 1) you don't have much else you need to buy 2) you don't follow trends and wouldn't mind if it went out of style, and 3) you love it so much, I'd say it sounds great to indulge in! It could just be the one piece you get this season, and the statement piece that you'll love for years to come.

But trendy or not, boredom can be an issue with non-solids; do you think you might get sick of it? Would the price still be worth it if you do? And does it go with many items in your wardrobe? I'm assuming you look and feel great in it and the quality is not a problem.

ETA: oh, just saw the photo it looks great! Doesn't look like you'll be bored of it, and it does look very classic. And your style.

When has plaid ever gone out of style?

Thank you for the recommendation, Melisande, but I am always dissapointed with Zaras fit as well. They are cut for people with longer waists than me. The style of the dress, however, is spot on:wink:

After falling in love with a Chloe corduroy suit from 2011, I have really been wanting to add more rust/whiskey colored pieces to my wardrobe. I think a corduroy blazer would be the most versatile. More durable than velvet, and the texture will mean that I don't need an exact color match. There will be several shades in the material naturally:smile:

Wishlist:
1. Printed shirt, in black/white/grey.
2. Little Black Dress. This one has an ugly zipper in the back, unfortunately. It would be great if the dress could be layered with a sweater and become a skirt.
3. Corduroy blazer. Preferably vintage.
4. Black blazer. Shrunken fit. My old one is too big.
5. Scarf with brown/orange in the print. Preferably vintage

Considering:
1. White tee. I feel like white washes me out, but maybe if I get the correct shade of white..
2. Whiskey colored suede pumps. Just Yum. They will only go with the LBD I haven't found yet though...
3. Skinny black trousers. Also, not a must. My tobacco colored trousers should be versatile enough.
4. Charcoal tee. I don't really need this the next 8-9 months.

That said. I don't need anything at the moment, so I will take my time:smile: I am still working on my current wardrobe to make it as functional as possible.

eizhowa, maybe cream or eggshell or off-white (aren't those all the same colour, really?) would be better on you than white? I find that white works better for me if it's not actually white :P

I think a white-white (is that a color) would work the best actually. Think Kim Kardashians veneers... I need something that will not blend with my cream/off-white body:wink:

I told my best friend I wanted a orange corduroy suit. She did not approve:lol: I guess it is not to everyones taste:mrgreen:

^ It is. I look much much better in regular white (which is very common for us, pale humans), like I am a little bit tanned. Which I am not at all. But I find it so hard to find an item that is not somehow off-white. Combination of different whites looks awful IMO.

Speaking of white, I would like to get a chunky white sweater this winter. It would go great with the new wool trench coat I got yesterday, which is quite thin for a winter coat, as far as I remember. Can't wait to receive it. ^_^

Betina and caramel, I would say yay for both a dress and the sweater! :flower:

I probably look better in off-white, but I usually wear white-white ... it's just easier. I started off with cool skin and warm hair, but my hair color seems to be getting cooler as time goes on ... and I don't just mean the grey :P

I thought of you all today as I was so excited and ready to take the love-plunge on a pair of gorgeous white & grey snakeskin pinheel sandals from Colisée de Sacha...they were so delicate, simple, discreet and elegant, super flattering and super comfortable....or so I thought, until I walked in them for a while and sharp pain shot through my toe. Even the SA dissuaded me, so...that was that. :(:(

So sad and frustrated, but kind of glad too.
They would have gotten dirty and destroyed after one wear. Sour grapes ?
OK, homework: I will shut up already about what I almost bought and come back with something concrete to say :hardhead:

Eizhowa I really like your style. I wonder where you find those rusty coloured pieces in the shops. I had a good pinterest day. Found so many inspirational pictures.

Melisande: Betina sometimes writes posts (on her blog) about items she has resisted, instead of bought, and I really like those kind of posts! I definitly don't mind hearing of items you loved, but ended up not getting for some reason. It is all part of the process, the way I see it:wink:

Trenchcoat: Thank you! That color was everywhere around 2011/2012. I miss those days... For now, I will be looking for vintage pieces in rust colors on Etsy and Ebay. There are lots of items from the 1970s in that color:smile: The pumps pictured are from Gianni and Jimmy Choo (There is one of each, actually).

Thinking about buying this shirt. Been looking for a polkadot shirt for a long time.
