The 50 Book Challenge (2012)

I can't believe it's been a year since we started the last challenge- time flies! Happy reading everyone ^_^

Count me in too! I wanted to participate last year too, but I worried I wouldn't have time because of all the exams (which I have this year too, but anyways:D) I'm reaching for the 50, which should be doable since I'll be counting all my boring school books.

So this year I'm starting with:

01. Peril at End House - Agatha Christie

I'm in! First time trying a book challenge. I don't know how many I can read before next year, but I'll go along with the 50 books.

Hey i´m in ! id like to read at least 20 books per year.

I'm in, too!! :D

I've read nearly 40 books in 2011. Hope to read 50 this year. I'm reading The Magus by John Fowles right now, I've begun to read it just few days before the New Year. So it's going to be the first book in my 2012 list.

I'm currently working on The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen so that will be my first book of 2012

I've got to update my signature now that we've got a new challenge ahead of us!

I'm going to go for 30 books this year so that I don't continue to avoid some of the longer, more challenging (read: time consuming) books that are in my "to read" stack

Should we continue to call the thread the 50 book challenge or should we change it to something more generic (The 2012 Reading Challenge?) since a lot of us are setting different goals for ourselves?

I'm thinking the 50 might be intimidating for some who might want to join in, but I could be wrong :flower:

*on another note, I'm also on Goodreads... if anyone wants to add me just message me what your tFS name is with the invite so I know who you are if it's not obvious

^ That's a pretty cool idea. Doesn't have to be 50 books, some of us will read 20, some of us will read 70 (not me - but I know you guys are out there)

Wow I'm a fashion insider now! Happy new year to me!

I want to participate this time!! :buzz:
This challenge may inspire me to actually finish the three books I'm reading right now:

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
The Night Circus by Erin Mortensen
Drowning Ruth by Christina Schwarz

and it also may help me read books that have been on my "must read" list for years!

Book #1 - The Souls of Black Folks by W.E.B. Du Bois
I should be done by the week's end.

I'm reading the Night Circus as well. How are you liking it so far?

01 > Das böse Mädchen (engl: The Bad Girl, orig: Travesuras de la Niña Mala) < Mario Vargas Llosa

this year I want to participate properly :P I started the challenge last year but then I didn't read much because it was my last year at uni, I think I read less than 10 books last year

I probably won't make 50, but as long as this challenge motivates me to waste less time surfing on the internet I'm happy

I'm going to try and make up for this year, because last year I've read a poor number of only seven books.

I'll join in again. This challenge last year really helped me increase my reading last year (from 21 to 32) so I'm definitely coming back. I'm only going to post sporadically though. Maybe every 10 books.

It's okay. I'm not as "hooked" as I thought I'd be. It's taking me forever to get through it, because I keep falling asleep when I try to read it. I'm currently on page 154...if you're ahead of me...does it get better??

01. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
02. Wild Swans by Jung Chang

I'm oficially over Dragonfly in Amber, I won't read any further through this series...I'm sick of it. Too much romance. Too sugary...:yuk:
Wild Swans looks much better so far though! :woot:

I couldn't participate properly last year, so here it goes:
Never Let Me Go-Kazuo Ishiguro
The Virgin Suicides-Jeffrey Eugenides
The Great Gastby-F. Scott Fitzgerald

currently: Tinker,Tailor,Soldier, Spy by John Le Carré and Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts
I had to be like 13 hours on an airport so it helped me buy books and read them.

^Never let me Go is the top book of those which I read in 2011.

I'd like to read the Great Gatsby, too.
