The Acne Thread

^^ Exactly the same with me... I don't really get pimples at all unless its "that time of the month" or im stressing about something...

I think there is absoloutley a link between skin and diet. I mean, the healthier you ear, the healthier your skin will look (compared to what it would have been anyway)
but, that being said, you will have to find out what causes skin problems for YOU, as it could be something different for everyone. Heck, apples might make some people break out, who knows?

Okay people have told me that there was no connection so I believed them but when I ate junk food once in a while then I noticed it did make my skin break out. So I guess it's different for every person

i agree with this.

also, the people who may be eating a lot of junk food (and have bad skin), are possibly not eating a well balanced diet with the correct servings of grains, vegetables, fruits, proteins, etc.. and thus arent getting enough nutrients. It's not just their skin that's going to be affected, it's every other part of their body too

i dont believe any of that chocolate causes pimples or hot chips causes pimples stuff though.. its too great an assumption to be making with no substantial evidence to back it up

Soda is HORRIBLE for the body, especially the skin. The caffeine dries your skin, and your body creates more oil to make up for it. This is fueled even further by the excess SUGARS (in the worst form of them all - CORN SYRUP) in soda.

Bottom line: Pop is BAD.

Processed foods are too. Especially fast foods and frozen foods, which have the most preservatives, flavorings and artificial ingredients.

I don't think it causes acne AT ALL. I don't know where people came up with such a thing. If it did cause acne, my face would be full of pimples. I barely get any

Your skin is the largest organ in your body. As with your heart, liver, kidneys, what you eat DOES have its effect. Even though there is no link between certain foods that cause acne, not getting the essential nutrients your body needs, will be a contributing factor. But I think whether or not you get acne boils down to your genetics. :flower:

there's definetely a link there. i don't break out after eating junky but my skin does get more oily afterwards.

For a lot of people, I think there's definitely a link. Doctors won't admit it, but it's maybe some kind of conspiracy...

I looked into it, and people that acutally saw results said that they were minimal and not worth the money. Wait till they perfect it.

I think that it depends entirely on the person. I definitely notice the difference when I don't sleep enough, feel quite stressed, don't drink enough water, have pms, don't get enough exercise...or eat badly. Food may not cause obvious breakouts for me like pms does, but it certainly affects my skin's overall health and appearance.

I think that it all depends upon the person as well as other factors (ie, did you eat junk because you were extra stressed, too).

AHHHHHH I HATE HIVESSSS
i got them soooo much during the summer.

Depends on the person. Everybody is individual. But I think most people can notice a visible difference if they eat funk food over a long period. One thing is that if you eat funk food you usually drink soda. There is coffeine in soda which dehydrates the skin. I eat chocolate - but only high-quality chocolate and I drink water to it.

FUNK FOOD??! nice spelling mistake

Hi Impossiblepricess,

I was going to answer your question but I guess you found that it works!!!! Good for you!!!!

I am not sure if I am spelling the name right but I believe it is called mederma? My sister uses it for her acne scars and she said it works miracles. I believe you can get it at Walgreens. I think it is $27.00 per tube. Good Luck!

Oh wow, now I'm curious about the shea butter too... so you use it locally, on the spot marks, or in the face (all)?

I use it on my face and my body... all over.. it helps to reduce the inflammation for my pimples(at least for my case, and I can't speak for everyone!)...

Also..great for winter

Is there a certain brand that is good or just any 100% shea butter from the drug store?

the one I use has no brand but you have to make sure it is 100% pure african shea butter and unrefined as Theory points out.

That's what I got and works for me!!! :brows:
