The Acne Thread

sadejack I'm using Dr. Hauschka right now after my skin really started freaking out from something (it had just started to stay clear!). It's really helping to calm it down and I've only been using it for about a week. Check out the thread: Dr. Hauschka

I tried that too! The alcohol nearly burned my skin off.:( But thanks for the suggestion.

i use that and it works also it does dry up skin but the 3rd step is strong but i use moisturizer after the 3rd step. but i dont try to put too much. ^_^

The Philosophy acne kit worked wonders for me the first kit I went through. The second time my skin got used to it and it was like washing my face with water. It is very strong so if you have sensitive skin, try the kit for that.

Every cream even for problem skin makes my skin so shiny :( Can someone advice me please some cream for oily and problem skin that won't make my skin greasy?

^ Mattifier's work like a dream...I've been using one for three days and have noticed a huge change in the appearance and texture of my skin...That accompanied with a whole new skin care regime :p

^ i've used the napoleon perdis one and a baby blue one

What did you think of these? Have you tried Dermalogica (the one you recommended a few posts back, I think)? The site's description of that one seems great, but I'd like your opinion, if it's available!

no i haven't(dermalogica) , my friend said it was good but her skin wasn't too bad(abit shiney and a few pimples). but the napoleon perdis one i really loved but it was fairly expensive and baby blue it was ok for about an hour or so but make my skin worse.;)

ok i'm sure that this has been asked before, so i'm sorry for bringing it up again :S but for those of you who have used ProActiv, what do you think? does it really work--or does it work for a specific skin type?

my skin is quite oily and my problems are occasional cystic pimples and some black/white heads, but i think my biggest problem is scarring. does ProActiv cure this or does it just make it worse? i heard that there's benzoyl peroxide in it and it makes your skin more sensitive or something...true?

i would love to hear you guys' experiences because i've heard a lot of good stuff about it and i think i want to try it. i'm just sick of having to wear makeup ALL THE TIME and being deathly afraid to go swimming in public!! i've also thought of resorting to birth control pills--i've heard from numerous girls that it not only cleared up their skin but gave them bigger boobs as well (hurrah!)!! thoughts?

^ the only people i know it has worked for is my friend's mum and the people in the ads

I've heard that it works, however your skin becomes dependant on it. So once you stop using the products, your skin will return to its original state :( I know how you feel though (about having to wear make-up all the time) but I think what you should try before anything too extreme is to balance the oilines/oil production on your skin. Pimples after all are caused by a mixture of oil, dirt and bacteria (which causes inflammation within the pores). Try to cleanse your face twice a day using products (cleanser, toner, moisturiser) which counters oil production. Do this in combination with a gentle exfoliator and face mask (1-2 times a week). I'm currently using Chanel's purity/oil control line (only because my skin is so used to their products that using anything else causes horrible reaction), and it has reduced white-heads dramatically after a week - although active pimples seem to persist...But having said that, my skin is far less oily and looks radiant with or without make-up ^_^ Best of luck :flower:

At the moment I am using...

Cleanser - Systéme Pureté La Mousse (Purifying Deep-Cleansing rinse off foam - Cleanses, mattifies and refines skin)
Toner - Activateur Pureté (Oil controlling purifying toner - Purifies and mattifies skin to prevent excess sebum secretion)
Exfoliator - Gommage Microperlé Pureté (Deep cleansing exfoliating mousse - detoxifies skin, removes dead cells and impurities etc)
Mask - Masque Déstressant Pureté (Purifying cream mask - removes impurities and excess sebum)

For moisture I use their new refining serum as well as their mattifying fluid...And for on the spot treatment, I use their Blemish Control which comes in a small tube because its very gentle :)
