The Acne Thread

i thought my skin was getting better, but it just flared up again!!!!!! what should i do? should i go to dr? argh, i so hate this scar mark!!!!

I hate my skin with a passion :[. I have a rather spotty chin at the moment & it's doing my head in. So I'm trying new things like changing my pillow case every 2 days (sleep on one side one night the other the next then change it) My mums suggestion god knows if it will work! I'm also going to cut down on milk, as I heard on the radio the other day that it is the only food they have found that is linked to acne. I really just want to use the product my mum used to get rid of hers but I can't afford it! Epicuren, it's an Americian product & the only place that sells it in England happens to be the salon where I have my hair cut etc. But I really recomend it to any sufferers! It's not THAT expensive I just have literally no money at the moment! :(

I get tiny pimples all over my forehead and chin area and Philosophy's On a Clear Day is amazing. It's a blemish serum and not only does it has salicylic acid, but it also has glycolic acid. Ah, I love it.

the spots you get on the chin are mostly due to hormones. I got lots of them right now, because I'm in that lovely period of the month...

Ohh great! Lol I always get loads during my period I hate it but thats natural I understand it. I just hate the fact all my friends have clear skin & moan they are spotty! I think they do it infront of me to lower my self-esteem :( cos it does!

Is there anyway to get rid of scars? Or are they permanent?

speaking of 'literally tried anything' once i even get a knife and i wanted to 'scrub' my face out of acne... yeah. olga spell 'desperation'.

I'm thinking about getting the Biore Blackhead Strip Remover.

Does anyone have recs on it? I'm afraid they might pull off my skin too.

^I love them. My only advice is limit them to one a week. I got so obsessed I was doing 3 a week and eventually the skin on my nose was flaking off so I've stopped for now but they have done me a world of good. Especially in the area on the side of the nose

Went to the store. Is there a diff between Biore deep cleansing strips and ULTRA deep cleansing strips?

Should I just get the ultra or will it damage sensitive skin?

And do the strips enlarge pore holes?

I have spots on my chin right now, and on one cheek. Hormones?
Being a guy is annoying because you can't really treat hormonal imbalances.

For scars have you tried products with mandelic acid or kojic acid? they are gentler than some other sorts of treatments and have had good results in lightening discoloration and marks. Retin A or products with a form of retin also improve the texture of your skin as well. other than that, if they are truly deep ones, maybe going to a dermatologist who can administer treatments to resurface your skin, like peels, dermabrasion or laser. :flower:

Has anyone tried Paul Penders Herbal Citrus Fruit Exfoliant?

Regular use of this non-abrasive herbal exfoliant will reveal soft, fresh, healthier-looking skin. Formulated with natural alpha and beta hydroxy acids that gently remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, this all-natural exfoliant will unclog pores and sweep away dead skin cells, leaving the skin softer and clearer than ever before. Specially created to work synergistically with the natural whitening effect of Paul Penders AquaLuna and Intensive Clarifying Therapy. Suitable for all skin types.

I'm wondering if it has the same effect as Avene Cleanance K?

I think chin is the hormone area, and forehead diet? I could be wrong.

I have now 21 weeks left of anti-biotics and I'm nervous. I haven't been taken them correctly for a few weeks and I'm beginging to think I should have been more careful. I'm just scared when I come off them, they'll come back....

My scars never look so bad after a good night sleep, rather weird. But I'm using sudocrem on my face as well at night now and that's doing wonders

I give up! I'm asking my mum to book me a doctors appointment when she gets in seriously :(

^Have you been to a doctor about this before?

No, but since my last post they've cleared up a bit. Does annoy me though how My friends all have perfect skin because they are all on the pill. I'm not for two reasons. 1. My mum don't want me messing up my fertility (whatever :innocent:) 2. I don't really want to pile on the pounds after 2 years of weight loss (not a diet just natural) I am finally happy with my figure I don't want it messed up :(. So doctors maybe not! I think I'm going to try a few products recomended in here see how it goes :)

^You don't have to go on the pill. I'm not on it and I never have or never will be. Go along anyway, and see what your doctor says :) I regret leaving it for years,I want to get as many people as possible who are doubting going to the doctors to go!
