The Acne Thread

Is there truly a difference between products like Clinique and Proactive compared to Neutrogena and Olay??? I don't have visible acne but there are these flesh-colored bumps that can only be seen in direct sunlight which bother me so much and I'm wondering if the more upscale products will help with that...

My boyfriend doesn't have much acne either but he uses Proactiv too. Many people I know who use it, all have really different skin issues but it seems to help out most everyone. Maybe you could try one of those skin brushes or something to exfoliate more?

I can't take it anymore - I am going to try that famous aspirin mask NOW :D
People talk about it all the time on messageboards but I was afraid to use it, I think I should try this remedy :p
I'll write later if it was good for my skin

also can anyone tell me if it's ok to exfoliate acne-prone skin? I do exfoliate mine, but what if it's forbidden for such a skintype?

I'm going to try the aspirin mask.

My skin has cleared up slightly,I think it is more to do with the fact that I have had no fruit or vegetables in over 2 weeks...but I am a student after all ^_^

Cherryblossoms-I think a gentle exfoliator should be okay, nothing to harsh and I'd say no more than once a week

I haven't done the aspirin mask yet because I didn't find any aspirin at home and forgot to buy some today

Do you mean that fruit and vegetables are bad for skin? I thought exactly the opposite

oh I see :)

Used that aspirin mask today, I like it! I used it right after my regular one. First I was afraid that it dried my skin when the aspirin started to get dry, but when I washed it away my skin didn't seem to be dried out and was obviously cleared. I think I'll use it from time to time

I'm trying the aspirin mask right now but I don't think I made it correctly...I followed instructions that said use 6 aspirin but I'm only using 4 because I think that's enough to start with, and then I added too much water so it's not quite what I expected ^_^ I found a nice 'recipe' to make one using yogurt and honey,so I think I'll give that one a go next week

p.s I do feel my face tingling which I guess is a good sign??

^
do you mean adding yoghurt and honey to aspirin?
I have heard about adding honey, but I didn't know about youghurt.
I think yoghurt is full of preservatives and chemicals so I wouldn't risk to put that on skin, unless u r talking about natural/home-made youghurt :)

as far as I remember, my skin didn't tingle because of aspirin mask, I didn't even feel it on skin

I think it tingled cos I had rubbed it on a little too hard. Having said that, when I washed it off my skin was a lot softer and smoother and one of my spots seemed a lot less angry. But my chin is horrific,I have a good 10 spots and painful bumps there alone,I don't know what to do. The tetracycline either no longer work or are taking a long time to work again :(

St. Ives Apricot Scrub is evil, imo. It is much too harsh to use on your face - it basically cuts you skin. It's decent as a body exfoliant, but I honestly wouldn't ever use it on my face.

I've had no problems with St.Ives. But then I've it only used it on my face one or two times
