The Acne Thread

ok so ive been seeing a dermatologist for like 4 months now and they put me on Clindamycin topical lotion and differin gel and it's been going really well. my skin has never looked better. but i also gota give some props to my dove daily exfoliant face wash, im like addicted to it. i cant go to sleep without washing my face with it and i cant like go about my day without washing my face in the morning with it.

but today i finally got around to getting these minocyclin pills.. anyways i just have a question for those of you who have used minocyclin.. are they supossed to smell like BBQ chips? or is it just me going crazy... kinda throwing me off

my minocyclin pills dont smell like anything...thats strange...its worth calling your pharmacist....for those of you considering taking minocyclin...you might as well try (if you have insurance) it should only be ten bucks for a months supply and it helped to clear up my skin....it wouldnt hurt to try

I've just been prescribed Clindamycin topical lotion (Dalacin T) in combination with erythocin (sp?) antibiotics. just wondering if anyone has used either of these and how well they worked/ how long it took to see any sort of results?
thanks!

for the most part i got rid of my spots, but on my back are still some "brownish blemishes" from the spots and some blackheads and i dunno this bothers me somehow so that i don't dare to wear tops that show my back...:( that so sucks....anyone here with such a problem?

Has anyone tried that Proactive thing? I've heard that it's very good..is it?

What about the La Prairie Blemish Control? Anyone tried this?

my god...you know the zits that you get underneath you're skin sorta, how do you get rid of them ='[ i have a huge one and its driving me crazy

Hi yes i was perscribed this too, i was told i had very mild acne, and i was perscribed this lotion in january this year, i did see quick results in terms of shrinking pimple, 5 months later i dont actually have spots or pimples but i do have slight markings where the acne was which is normal i think after acne, but in a way these markings are bothering me more!!, i did ask if anyone knew a treatment to get rid of these markings but lazer treatment is all i got! anywayone else know any other non surgical or lazer way to get rid of moderate acne scarring???? anyway good luck with the topical lotion its very good!!! :D :D

Blackheads

I have stubborn blackheads on my forehead and the skin closest to my nose. I've pretty much tried every product and nothing works. Will going to an esthetician solve my problem?

The African shea butter, where can you get it? is there any well known brands (L'Oreal, Boots,The Body Shop etc) that sell it, because this is a small country, and I won't be able to get something very "special".I went to The Body Shop, as I remembered seeing African shea butter there, but found only this African honey butter (?)...

Do you use the shea butter as moisturizer for your face also?

I've always had pretty clear skin. A year ago though I started having some serious issues at my chin. Everyone was stumped. Me, friends and family and even doctors and my fabulous facialist (my nickname for my est.). I tried everything, from expensive to cheap. I tried Proactive and it was TERRIBLE. Made it worse and gave me a rash. NOT for sensitive skin.

On to the good news and the reason why I posted

I just turned 25 and have become obsesed with anti-aging (don't laugh!). I bought Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough Serum. A fan of the Philosophy line, I thought I would try it. Well, in a week my skin is not only almost completely clear, but the pinkish scars from my "battlewounds" are almost gone as well. I know its not an acne treatment, but I guess the combo of Vit. C, anti-oxis and all the other goodies in a "condensed" form really help. It can be expensive, I bought it off of eBay. Thought I would pass along my miracle worker. My skin is once again, clear, glows and honestly as the Philosophy line says "Make-up optional". My complexion is back!!!!

thanks for the info! hopefully it'll work, i've been using it for about a week and a half and don't see results yet...(i know you have to wait at least 2months but i'm so impatient!) so did yours basically go after 5/6 months or was it after about 2months?
i have scars too, apparently vitamin e lotion is good and african shea butter, but i reckon it would take time...it's all such a long process! anyway thanks if u can answer me again and i hope i helped with the scarring!!:D

^^^ your welcome! ye, i started off using it twice a day morning and night, but i found that it made my skin look shiny and greasey so i only use it once at night now which is working for me. do you have the roller lotion like me or a cream?? anyway,ye just be patient i know its horrible, after about two weeks i was considering going back to the doctors and saying it doesnt work!! but u just have to wait and be patient. the thing i like about it is the fact that its gentle on your skin its not harsh as it has no alcahol in it. all i can say is that since i ve been using the lotion my spots have cleared up and i dont get new spots anymore , im just tackling existing ones!! and the marks as i mentioned before. but it does take time ! if u dont see results within about 2-3 months i would go back and ask for somthing else, this lotion was my first perscription and i was very lucky but the doctor said to me that some people have to try tons of creams and lotions before they can actually found one that works it just depends on your skin, there mihgt be one out there for me that would work much better im only sticking to this one because it has worked even though it has been a slow progress!! good luck and let me know if its working!! oh and thanx for the tip !!

^^^ i agree that it makes ur skin shiny and look oily!! sounds like you've had such good results, i hope it works that well for me too! thanks for all the information again, it helps!! i've noticed my skin getting a little bit worse at the moment, but apparently it gets worse before it gets better!? anyway spose i better just wait a couple of months then!......
thnx for all ur advice!:flower: `

^^ your welcome ! ye i think the roller lotion is better as your not touching your skin with your hands! and yes mine got worse before it got better too so hang in there!!!

Does anyone have any recommendations for bacne? I used to have a really nice, clear back, but in the past 6 months, I've started to develop bacne on my upper back and its so irritating and frustrating.

I have mild acne on my back and what's clearing it up is a body cleanser called Phisoderm. I've also used the Neutrogena body cleanser but I've found that Phisoderm is more effective. HTH.
