The Acne Thread

I guess you can't do anything against deep scars. I mean not those red scars but those who form like a hole on the surface of your skin

You can get pock marks (deep holes) removed by your derm I heard. Maybe you can look into that.

HOLY GRAILS
(unless you have severe acne) :ninja:

If you have a few spots CALAMINE LOTION. BUY IT. BUY IT. PLEASE
PLEASE. It works and you just have to read all the reviews here to be tempted:
http://www.acne.org/calamine-lotion-reviews/307/page1.html

And TOOTHPASTE DOES WORK
But it depends on what type you put on , your skin type and how long you put it on. The best is Colgate Total because it contains a pimple fighting ingredient and its best to use it as a mask for a couple or hours say 5 ? Anyways wash it off and wait till the next day it will be better :flower:

These two have worked better than the most exxy zit creams

But these only work if you have just a little spots here and there that bug you , it may not work with severe acne

i have found a article about natural treatments of acne
http://planetgreen.discovery.com/fashion-beauty/acne-treatments-ask-summer-rayne.html

and homemade mask

Lemon Egg White Mask 1. Crack an egg and remove the yolk. Beat the egg whites in a shallow bowl.
2. Cut a fresh lemon in half and squeeze juice into the bowl, mixing it in with the egg whites to form a dense paste.
3. Apply to a clean face and allow to dry for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse face and pat dry with a towel.
Oatmeal Onion Mask
1. Cook 1/2 cup of plain, unsweetened oatmeal. Set aside to chill.
2. Peel 1 medium onion and finely shred in a food processor, making a smooth puree. Add it to the cooked oatmeal while it is still warm.
3. If the mask is not thick enough, add some honey or green clay until it is thick enough to sit comfortably on your face.
4. Store the mask in the fridge for up to one week.
Difficulty level: Easy

iggy: thanks for the calamine lotion tip! It sounds so good based on the reviews, I'm going to have to go out and buy some tomorrow, pronto! Fingers crossed it works as well for me as it did for other users.

Unfortunately calamine lotion did not work for me at all...Made my face more red :( But lemon juice seems to be working quite well...I think its because of the acidity :)

I tried Erythromycin pills and they did a great job in clearing my skin up! However - if I forget to take them for just one day, my skin breaks out all over again :(

Calamine lotion's used to treat sunburns, right? Shouldn't it take the red out of the spots then? Someone recommended eyedrops to take red out of spots too...not sure how well that works though ^^

Do you just apply it straight to your face or do you mix it with something? I might get a bottle when I go to the store. :p

^ Yes. I just cut a fresh lemon in half and use a q-tip to apply it to spots so as not to touch my face...I use it as a spot treatment...It dries up the acne literally overnight and if you keep applying it (with a little vitamin e cream) the scars fade within a month...It has worked for my cystic pimples as well as little red spots...

which vitamin e cream do you use? :flower:

What about blackheads? I use you know, those scrubs. And those strips, especially on the nose. They don't work. I hate blackheads :(

i get blackheads on my nose...i think like most people, and the only thing i can say that REALLY WORKS WELL is to get in the shower with some soap like dove and a wash rag,let ur skin soak up the water for 10-15 minutes while u shower, then take the rag and lather it with soap and GENTLY rub ur nose and any area with blackheads for a few minutes...when you get out u can see the difference OMG...its my cure all for the nose blackhead....but be very gentle with the wash rag and ur face, or ull become raw (like i have so many times before :shock:)

I use a brand called 'Invite E' Vitamin E cream...The oil is good too, but it depends on what your skin can tolerate...I prefer the cream...If you prefer a cream, any brand of Vitamin E cream which has a concentration of 100 IU's is what you should look for ;) It should tell you on the label

So I just had an intense facial today, which included an extraction :ninja: After the extraction, face masks etc...my esthetician told me that the red bumps on my face were caused by a build up from cosmetics/products due to poor/ineffective cleansers as opposed to what I though I was having...acne! Apparently this problem is harder to treat than acne so I'm very lucky in that regard ^_^:innocent:

alright, EMERGENCY. My high school graduation is this Saturday, and I'm giving a speech and having a graduation party and it's all a big hoopla, etc. I can start to feel a huge pimple under the skin on my chin. I don't think lemon juice would work because it's like a marble under the skin and hasn't broken through yet. Is there anything I can do with just household ingredients!?

^ Ice! Wrap a cube in an absorbant towel and wet it a little with warm water...Apply it to the area for ten-fifteen minutes...Try and do this 3 times...This helps reduce the inflammation ;)

I've also heard toothpaste works miracles in reducing the size of a new pimple overnight...I'm not too sure which brand though, but anything which doesn't have mint or a gel-like consistency should do the trick...Try and find a regular white toothpaste that is simply a paste!

Good luck with your speech, and congratulations on graduating :flower:
