The Acne Thread

I got two new spots this morning..damn it!! I guess Yon-Ka creams are way too heavy and fragranced for me...I always think, 'Oh a little fragrance, no harm.' Well wrong. I'm returning $500 worth of La Prairie products and now am determined to try the Natura Bisse Oxygen Cream, also the same cleanser you're using Miu-Miu, and might as well try the Sensitive toner. Do you have the box saved by chance for the cream and toner? If so can you tell me if there are any fragrances listed, and if so, how far down the list are they?

I'm considering this other line, Somme Institute, which my dear friend got great results from. I am too embarassed to go to the gym even looking like this. I feel like a teenager.:rolleyes:

What LP products broke you out? I was using the foaming cleanser for a time and bam! Suddenly my skin reacted. Their foundation was even worse. *sigh*

Yes this all started with their Cellular Cleansing Emulsion (like a lotion cleanser, used to be calming and used to have waaay less ingredients, mineral oil is now the third ingredient!) and a new product which I totally didnt need but got to fill in a gap so I could get some free deluxe sample sizes. The product is Advanced Marine Biology Tonic, and I thought before purchasing that it was a toner, it is seen on this page http://www.thefashionspot.com/forums/f45/la-prairie-skincare-thread-45005-3.html
It is a, (and I'm quoting the La Prairie rep) "Pre-serum serum". Uh-huh. You shake it up to combine the solutions and then pat it on your face before a serum, after toning. I used this three times possibly, and got cysts...several cysts on my right side of my face, which is obviously my most reactive side, because I'm still two months later almost (purchased it May 31) breaking out and I might have possible scars. Scars! I'm furious. Mineral oil is in this product, and granted, I should have checked before purchasing, but I've used La Prairie for about 5 years and not had problems (at least I thought)
They have re-formulated products. I too use that Foaming Cleanser and that is one product I'm returning. That, their Cellular Microdermabrasion Cream, and the Cleansing Emulsion, I also have their Anti-Redness Cream but half the jar is gone. Also their glycolic retexturizing serum I have, which I did use the other night because after inspecting the ingredients it seemed decent, but then I got these two new outbreaks. I'm just too embarrassed to look for a job (and I'm an aesthetician!) and now I have to completely rethink and re-prioritize my skincare program and get all new stuff, wait 28 days to see it start working...sorry for going off.

I used almond oil before I went to bed yesterday and today my skin is so much better:shock:.

Okay, so I woke up today and my skin was a total mess. I was shocked, and upset  My skin has been great for about 4 weeks, and now it looks horrible. I have been drinking water all day

Does anyone know a natural approach to having clear skin? Like heat e.t.c (sometimes hot water in a pan, with the steam makes the skin nice)?

Hey LTEC, unfortunately I didn't keep the boxes...they all have a lovely fragrance so it might be an issue for you

The LP Microdermabrasion Cream also broke me out. I loved it though, the way it made my skin feel. Plus the crystals were pretty they made your skin almost like, sparkle. Did you get the "heads" to use with the Micro cream?

ok... is there actually anything (other than laser and proactive) that can help genetic acne? My dad had bad acne and it cleared up when he was 20ish but i'm 14, i can't wait until i'm 21

I know a lot of people believe that water is vital and an essential ingredient to having beautiful, glowing skin...But I've done some research and to my disbelief, found that drinking water in its abundance will not improve the skin any more so than consuming less generous amounts...Here is a little exerpt from an article called 'The Water Myth' in the May-June issue of Russh Australia by Mia Timpano which I found very interesting...So I thought I'd share it :flower:

...What will then successfully moisten one's face? It is first critical to appreciate that the exterior layer of your skin is dead. It therefore cannot be saturated by water consumed internally. It simply won't reach it (although recent studies published in US magazine Allure have shown that omega-3 fish oil tablets soothe particularly dry skin, which sounds worthy of investigation). Your outermost facial skin is largely the product of your external world - the wind, the sun, the air conditioner that modulates the temperature of your workplace or classroom...and thus must be moisturised in an external fashion.

Skin experts advise that hot showers, one of winter's sweetest luxuries, pervert the skin and suck its moisture, and thus should be militantly short. Skin should be scrubbed when dry according to Marcia Kilgore, fonder of Bliss Spa New York, a sentiment shared widely amongst the beauty community - indeed those of you who are exfoliated professionally (in day spas, for example) will be well aquainted with the exquisite agony of dry scrubbing; I reccommend this personally. Beauty experts also councel the use of moisturising cleansers - yours should contain glycerin or petrolatum. And moisturiser, as you are no doubt already aware, sould be applied to damp skin - water (ironically) encourages the absorption of the lotion. So there you have it. Water. Drink it less neurotically. You may keep your Evian on hand, my moist-faced friend, just don't obsess. Chin chin!

So apparently you will not achieve better hydrated skin by drinking more amounts of water "ad infintum" (something I always do when lovely break-outs occur) :p Apparently one should drink enough to satisfy your thirst as it will have little effect on the exterior appearance of your skin...

I havent used the Microdermabrasion Cream in some time, but I liked mixing it with the LP Cleansing Emulsion, and my skin was so radiant and smooth and flawless upon final look, after moisturizer. It really was a favorite product of mine, and I'm sad to return it, but it's $250! Yes I have the sponge applicators that you can use with it, but I never have used them except for the black one that is meant for your heels. I cant imagine using this product all over my body, what a waste of money! Sadly, but realistically I believe my LP days are at an end (until I turn 50 or something ha) as their products are just too ingredient-loaded for my face right now.

I'm having really good results with using Biologique Recherche again. I stopped using it because of my LP rep telling me that the alcohol in it was too drying to my face, but I got a great tip off BR's website that you should dampen the cotton pad and then apply the P50 (the exfoliant that's pretty intense) for less tingling. It's working wonders! My skin hasnt broken out since and I'm pretty sure that she (my LP rep friend) told me that in terms of her skin...well she's in her 60's so of course drying out her face wouldnt be an option, but for me, I'm 26, still have good sebum production, it's OK.

Maybe. I'm going to go to the counter and ask to read the ingredients before purchasing. ^_^

My skin broke out like crazy last Sunday after trying a new foundation. It was awful. :( I've been using La Roche-Posay Effaclar Foaming Gel and Biologique Recherche P50 this past week, and my skin is finally starting to clear again. The La Roche-Posay cleanser makes my skin smooth but a little dry, so I only use it sparingly with pretty good results. It has zinc in it, and that's supposed to help with acne.

Yeah zinc is great for inflammation, redness, and overall calming down stressed out skin. Isnt the P50 fab? I'm using it daily now (the P50V ) and my skin is smooth again, no new breakouts. I also booked a facial at a spa that uses the products, so it will be my first Biologique Recherche facial...cant wait! :woot: They've come out with some new products which I'm dying to try.

how do i get rid of a cystic acne that is black under the skin.

i dont think theres any oil under my skin since it doesnt hurt but just trapped blood.:(
