What's in this asprin mask then??
I've been on marvelon for 2 days now, no change yet but wasn't expecting it yet...any tips??

One simple thing I have heard lately is to change your pillow case frequently which might prevent outbeaks

Right I brought all the stuff to make the asprin mask. Now bearing in mind I start back at college tomorrow do you think I will be alright to use it tonight?

I can't say either way if you should or shouldnt use it tonight (I think it'll be okay though) but for the first time maybe use only 2/3 aspirin. The instructions I had said use 6-8 but to me that seems far to extreme

i could barely fit 4 aspirin on my face...lol i swear i wasted half so now i do 2 with honey.

I did 4 as I added too much water (and maybe cos I have a werid thing about odd numbers lol) then yogurt and honey. God the yogurt sinks! It's made my skin nice and soft but I won't know anymore till the morning really so I'll report back tomorrow :)

I was going to do the aspirin mask but then I found out my mom has an allergy to aspirin and even though she's sure I don't have one and that it would probably be perfectly fine to use as a mask on me when I saw you guys said some of you have been getting headaches after doing it I decided not to. My skin has been looking nice the past few days so I don't think it is worth the chance right now.
xoxo

I have very sensitive skin so I did a patch test first on my wrist. You could try that :)

I added too much water the first time too,i don't know why but when I read 'a few drops',I took that to me a teaspoon :D haha. Would you say it works with the honey and the yogurt cause I'd still like to try that

The original recipe with honey is the best, but I like pure aloe vera gel, too. It's nice to change the ingredients every once in a while. ^_^

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but benzoyl peroxide is an extremely unhealthy chemical people use to treat acne. I've used it to keep my skin clear for several months and today I used it and it just ****ed up my skin so bad. I got really red in the cheeks, burn all over my face, and when I applied lotion to my skin (with SPF) it made it worse and it continued to burn. I looked up possible causes and found that could signal rosacea, but no one in my family has it, I didn't have any prior symptoms and it just randomly happened today, and I've never gotten red/burning skin before. Not in windy or warm weather or with any other product. I don't have sensitive skin.

So I figured it had to be the benzoyl peroxide. I researched and found most people experienced red, burning, itching, severely dry, flaky skin after using it. I usually had a little redness but that went away within 2 or 3 minutes and I did experience dryness. However, I happened upon a site which claimed it caused premature aging and cancer. There have been studies which claim it increases cancer in mice. It removes the top layer of your skin and leaves it REALLY prone to skin damage from the sun (I have very fair skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, and some celtic heritage so I'm already "REALLY" prone to skin damage from the sun in general). Not to mention the "normal" reaction to benzoyl peroxide is red, itchy, flaky, burning skin. If that's "normal" I would hate to see what isn't.

It's found in many, if not most, acne treatments including Proactive. I just threw all of my benzoyl peroxide products away. I had been using it twice a day, with concentrations of 3.5%, and used sunscreen, exactly as directed. My theory is that after using this for several months it caused my skin to become sensitive. I'm not washing or bothering my face for at least several days to allow it some time to "heal" the burning sensation is gone but the redness is still there (not as much though). Maybe it's just me, maybe it's just a random unusual thing that happened but I can assure you my skin has never been sensitive to anything before and all of a sudden it's sensitive to two products which aren't related (don't have the same ingredients).

What angers me the most is that I didn't even have bad acne. It was very mild and I was trying to "prevent" any future acne while getting rid of the acne that I did have. And now, I can't wash my face for several days so I might develop blemishes during that period and my face is still somewhat red. So my skin looked 10x better before using this product that is supposed to make the skin look better!

^ a lot of the spot treatments i used to use when i have major skin problems had benzoyl peroxide. i found it too irritating to continue so i tossed them all too!

same here. but I didn't find out for... well years! and a lot of the redness I still have comes from benzoyl peroxide I guess

my friend gave me a set of hand-made soaps from pharmacy
one of it is coal-tar soap
it works wonders as a cleanser!
my skin seems clearer and I din't get any break-outs
and it's not drying my skin

I use coal tar on my body when I get small patches of psoriasis but I've never used it on my face,I have some in the bathroom so guess what I'll be trying tonight ;)

I'm doing a lot better, hoorah! The 'blister' like spots on my face have gone down considerably, and tehres no redness. Plus, actually,I've hardly any spots! But I know it might not last long

How is everyone else doing?

I'm a lot better now. I have a few spots but most are scars I think :( anyone know how do get rid of the damn scars?

it's not just coal tar soap, I think it's made directly for the face, it also contains some herbs etc., so it's safe ^_^
but one of my friends used average coal tar soap for face some time ago and it was good to her

Yup, I change my pillow case every two nights (sleep on one side a night). I also recently heard that you shouldn't use fabric softeners on your pillow cases because they're made of lard.

Gah have just started marvelon in the hope that it might make my skin better but so far nope (didn't really expect much in one week) but also feeling very depressed and tearful....anyone? Should I stick with it or what?
Also beginning to think the pill might have caused my acne??
HELP please i'm pretty desperate her :(
