The Acne Thread

I made myself an Aspirin mask this morning because my skin has been so dry lately because of the weather and I've been putting this stuff called Bye Bye Blemish on at night.. anyway, I thought it worked really well.

How often should someone use an Aspirin mask? I'm thinking like either every 2 weeks or once a month..

I have only done the aspirin mask on 2 occasions,it was when my skin was at its worst ever a few weeks back, and I'm scared that it maybe made my skin worse a day after. So I'm worried to do another one.

I wouldn't do more than 1 a week,I've said this before but remember to bear in mind, whilst it's still on the face, aspirin is still a drug that's getting into your system

Yeah, I recommend to do the mask every some weeks or twice a month. It really depends on how your skin get affect by it. If you do it too much it might irritated your skin with dryness since it happen to me.

I'm not so much.. had a breakout yesterday where whitheads popped up throughout the day. Horrible and really weird..
Though I had been using Nixoderm a little less.. and I've been under stress from arguments with people in my school.
I'm using the Garnier Pure Purifying Peel Kit right now to get rid of the blemishes/marks left behind. Wish me luck :)

i've been using avene products including diacneal... and i am sooooo posivie about it! really worth trying. diacneal is a miracle for my post-acne scars... it feels so good.

^
I'm using aspirin mask at least 2 a week, I'm getting addicted to it!

I've had several break-outs lately and I hate it! I think I have to wait a little time it to heal

How is everyone doing? I'm doing okay for once ^_^

me too!

like i said before i usually only break out monthly due to what i call *ragdoll* but this time i didnt break out before or during. i got one right after it ended but its small/easy to cover with makeup and healing very quickly on its own. im so happy im like back to normal again because last month was horrible and i was sick...it could have been a contributor. cold = blowing all the fluids out of your nose and drying out not only my nose but my face too! i felt like i couldnt drink water/juices or apply moisturizer/lip chap fast enough to replenish myself!

is it true what they say that if you have dry skin and dont take care of it then your skin produces more oil? i used to have a lot of trouble with my skin so i can definitely believe that, it probably happened to me before. of course skin is always changing as you age and climates change etc

im no expert but my theory on this is that if you allow your skin to be drier than you're skin usually is you're body naturally sends the message to produce oil to make up for the dryness.

This is why over-drying cleansers, such as soap, and terms like squeaky clean are considered to be bad when it comes to skin.

I have a theory about moisturizers benefits for acne as well. If it softens the skin including flaking skin (easier to peel off) then maybe the same thing could be done for cysts. It can soften the layer of skin covering the spot and allow medication(or popping it) to penetrate to the cyst much easier. Therefore faster healing.:)

^ that sounds right.

my skin only got better after i stopped using harsh acne cleansers. i dont think they were particularly harsh but my skin is a bit sensitive to products made for acne.

your theory on the cystic acne and moisturizers sounds like it makes sense as well. in a way it helps the medication go on easier and plus acne medications are usually drying so the moisturizer would kind of help buffer the shock.

right now im using Neutrogena Makeup Remover wipes and rinsing it off with water. that seems to work nicely. when i dont use those i just use Clean & Clear Morning Burst(orange/citrus one) to remove my makeup. ive seen the newer blue one of the C&C cleansers and have heard good things but im scared to change it up because what if it doesnt work for me? i think ill stick with my orange one till i run out which wont be for a while then maybe ill try something new but usually i just stick with what works!

I wouldnt use the C&C on acne.. It says it works but once you go off it your skin gets even worse because its addicted to it.. Trust me I have been there and that stuff messed with my skin so much I was so depressed and didnt leave the house! My skin went super dry and i got even worse acne from it! I would not recommend it and my beautician friend said its alcohol based which makes it addictive to your skin and is extremely harsh!

i started using C&C on and off about 3 or 4 years ago, my skin was already pretty much cleared up so it was just for basic cleansing(makeup). i havent noticed any changes from when i stop using it or not. i definitely had phases where i didnt wear makeup and didnt use any facial cleansers but i didnt break out when i stopped using it. before the Morning Burst(i believe its not for acne) one, i tried other C&C cleansers but i didnt like them, i found them drying like pretty much all the other cleansers ive tried in the past. i only started using this one because my friend recommended it to my sister and i tried it because she said it removed her makeup well and left her skin feeling soft and not dried out.

yeah im not too sure about the morning burst but mainly for the blue one.. stay away! *horror movie scream* lol I think the ones aimed at acne are way too strong, like they want to dry the pimples away lol

^ lol its true! it seems like all these companies make basically the same cleansers, some more harsh than others but same ingredients. it seems like they are going about the whole clearing up acne in the worst way by drying out the skin. i supposed if there was a solution, we would already have found it. in the meantime it sucks because its just trial and error for the individual until it clears up.

but i will for sure not try the blue one now, thank you Mk's Beauty Shop!

Ok so I think I have exhausted every expensive type of skin care product there is in search for the HG topical product to help improve my skin. Although I still get the wonderful breakout during that lovely time of month, I can safely say that my skin has improved from what it was looking like 6 months ago, i.e a complete mess. I started visiting a beautician every month who has been applying an anti-inflammatory sea-weed mask to help ease the ferocity of breakouts, and I've kept my home skin-care regime really simple. I now use a soap-free cleanser by Johnson's to remove my make-up and a very light moisturiser for sensitive skin by Neutrogena. Now who would have thought that products which cost less than ten dollars would work! The cleanser is not over-drying (and I have found in the past that most cleansers are just that...dry skin just makes matters worse and increases your chance of developing cystic acne) and the moisturiser is very light and when applied to damp skin works a treat :)

Another tip which I have found to be beneficial and which has improved the appearance of my skin dramatically is something so simple that I wish I had thought of it before. Yoghurt as a mask...I apply a thin layer of yoghurt onto my face after removing my make up. Not only does this feel refreshing, but the acidophilus in yoghurt also helps combat the build-up of bacteria on the surface of skin. I've also started taking multi-vitamins and Omega 3 daily, and this seems to be working its magic.

Oh and I do agree with what was said earlier about harsh prodcuts that over-dry your skin. This just makes matters incredibly worse. Skin in need requires gentle tactics :)

Kissablekae-my bad skin in December coincided with being extremly ill. The virus inside me really had an effect,I still have 2 blisters under the surface of my chin, but a lot smaller now thankfully

Cuivienen-Just plain greek yogurt? Cos I'd like to give that a go!

I've never found that anything like C&C has worked on my skin, although I'm using Neutrogena Spot Stress Control Daily Scrub, not because I find it clears my skin but because it makes it super soft ^_^ But I got my next 2 months worth of antibiotics yesterday, only 10 more months to go lol

С&C is made for teenage skin, which is not sensitive and that's why it's harsh for those who are not teens anymore

Funny how C&C products are being discussed right now because when I think of the term squeaky clean which i mentioned C&C is what i think of.

Ironically enough...im using an acne kit from them. It was the only kit left and i was desperate. Im not getting the squeaky clean effect and the scent reminds me of Proactiv's.

My acne is very slowly moving down from my jaw line to my neck line which im hoping will not happen. Im still not sure if the C&C Acne kit is any good. I dont use it everyday (worried about the aging effeft of BP) and its been 2 weeks since i purchased it so i dont know how effective it is.
