^ Thanks for posting. Don't they usually usually use current or older nail colours for the couture shows. We get new ones with RTW etc?

I've started wearing a Chanel blush and I'm liking it. I'm thinking about buy a proper brush though.

The Star Product from the Bombay collection (temptalia.com:(

Chanel Routes des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder ($80.00 for 0.53 oz.) is described as a “golden powder” that acts as a highlighter for cheekbones and eyelids. It’s a light-medium yellow gold with a frosted shimmer-sheen.

I couldn’t think of a cheek product that’s quite this yellow. Chanel Shimmering Tweed came the closest, but it is darker, more bronzy. Chanel Empreinte de Chanel is more orange. theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer is a softer, lighter gold with subtler yellow undertones (think more of a white gold). Now, there are several eyeshadows that come close! Chanel Blazing Gold is slightly darker. MAC Goldmine is more orange. Urban Decay Eldorado is perhaps a hint les yellow. Make Up For Ever #10 is a smidgen darker.

It’s a pretty highlighter with strong, yellow coloring, so it will be more flattering on warmer complexions, but it doesn’t run orange and there’s a little paleness to it that seems to neutralize some of the yellowy gold tones. The powder is surprisingly pigmented–you can really achieve true-to-pan color if you so desire. It does have a silver glitter overlay that gets swept away after the first use (and I’d advise removing it if you don’t want a few stray flecks of glitter on your cheeks).

Despite the high frost and shimmer in the highlighter’s finish, it didn’t emphasize pores or the natural texture of the skin, like many other frosted finishes do. The texture is soft, finely-milled, and allows for easy blending during application. I haven’t been so lucky with the wear on some of the recent powder releases by Chanel, but Routes des Indes de Chanel wore magnificently for eight hours; no fading, separating, or signs of going away.

If you love whoa! highlighters that are all about delivering a full-on glow, I think you might find Routes des Indes de Chanel worth checking out–if you’re able to sneak a peek at it in stores. I know that majority of distribution is online through Chanel’s website, which makes it a rather spendy item to buy sight unseen. It’s a bit of a collector’s piece, I’d say, with the price tag and design. You’re not going to see me ever comfortable with pushing something at this price point with a “must have! you will die without it!” (I don’t know if I’ve ever said that about any product!)

It’s a very nice powder, enjoyable, and performs exceptionally well. But it definitely comes with a grimace-worthy price tag for most.

i got the Diwali nailpolish and i really like it. it's gold, but i don't find it streaky (as metallics usually are) or loud. it can be very bright, but almost pass as a metallic neutral.

I recently got the Rouge Coco Shine in Empreinte, and it's the only Chanel product that has ever completely disappointed me.

I would never have considered buying it, except one weekend, I went into town to get things, but everywhere I went, tills wouldn't work, shops were out of what I wanted, or there wasn't anyone standing at the counter to serve me... it was as if the world didn't want me to buy anything.

At the Chanel counter, everything I would have bought was gone, so my impulse purchase was a neutral-looking Rouge Coco Shine, thinking that it wouldn't do much but would at least deliver a nice, professional, healthy shine during a morning at work - but the product is so underwhelming, I should have bought a blusher, because that would have lasted me about two years. The performance of the Rouge Coco Shine isn't even the two hours that some reviews have reported.

I knew the product wasn't that pigmented, but even as a sheer finish, I was still expecting better performance for the price. Moreover, I don't suffer from dry lips, but somehow, this formula managed to chap them.

A look at Diwali, she notices the diminished streaks as well (temptalia.com:(

Chanel Diwali Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer ($30.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “mix of pale gold and luminous silver.” Which would be pewter, really, except it’s more of a muted champagne gold chocked full of shimmer. The finish is metallic foil. Chanel Delight has a comparable finish but it’s very bronzy in comparison. OCC Cruising is very gold. Urban Decay Superfreak is similar but a little lighter–less golden. Dior Timeless Gold is more pewter, so it has less gold and more silver in it. China Glaze Midnight Kiss is much more golden. Illamasqua recently came out with Swinger, which I do have to review but haven’t photographed or swatched it (still in its box so no fingerprints get on it!), that may be similar as well.

It’s pretty much opaque in one coat, and I only used one coat in the swatches because it was so, so opaque, I wanted to be sure to capture and convey it to you. There are visible brush strokes, but they’re more minimized than they usually are in this type of a finish. It’s impressive, only because it’s hard to achieve, but they’re still there–I did feel like they were easier to control and get to look straight. It dries down to a semi-matte finish, though it still reflects because of how shimmer-loaded it is. The consistency wasn’t thick, but it wasn’t thin; it could have been a smidgen thinner I think. I’d have preferred to have more control with a thinner formula and need two coats. I typically get a week of wear with Chanel’s formula; no chipping but minimal tip wear.

And one of the single eyeshadows... I bought a muted white shade from one of their single eyeshadow ranges, and the formula was the best I've ever experienced. They discontinued it, of course, so now I have to save it for special occasions.

In the final image, she's wearing Complice on her lid (temptalia.com:(

Chanel Complice Ombre Essentielle / Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($28.50 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “soft peach.” It’s a soft, delicate peach with a subtle hint of pink. The finish is highly frosted, borderline metallic. MAC Fusion Gold is slightly darker. theBalm Stubborn is very similar but less shimmery. MAC Nubile is a little lighter. MAC Orb is similar but has a nearly matte finish. Urban Decay Scratch is barely pinker and has more of a sheen. theBalm Luscious Lani is more metallic and peachy.

This kind of shade usually receives two types of responses: ”This is my holy grail everyday shade!” and “This is SO dupeable, who would ever pay that much for it?” Complice is a dupeable shade to say the least! There were numerous dupes (mentioned above) that were very, very close. I think what will set it apart for those who typically purchase high-end is the texture. Chanel’s Soft Touch Eyeshadows are exactly that: soft to the touch; insanely finely-milled to the point that they almost feel like a cream, because they’re so soft and buttery. They tend to melt against the skin once applied. It is a great everyday shade, because it brightens and wakes up the most tired eyes with its slightly warm, shimmery look.

When I wore Complice for wear, it wore for a full eight hours without creasing, whether over a primer or on bare lids. The color payoff was a little sheer when I swatched it initially, but it was mostly opaque on the lid when I applied it with a brush. It definitely looked best when applied over a primer, though.

If you haven't seen it, here's the 'Mirror, Mirror' video by Chanel (youtube.com/chanel:(

"When crystal becomes makeup. Look through the mirror..."

^Thanks for posting! That was interesting...at first I was like what?? But it got better, the footage towards the end with the crystals on the model's face was pretty striking. Certainly a memorable video.

I'm a bit disappointed with the varnish colors that have been released recently, the only one that even remotely interests me is Vertigo.

tigerrouge, did you use a primer underneath your chanel eyeshadow? i'm strongly thinking about picking up complice.

tigerrouge, did you use a primer underneath your chanel eyeshadow? i'm strongly thinking about picking up complice.

I tried to take snaps of it but I couldn't get decent enough close-ups to really show anything... so here's a shot from a discount retailer, because the entire Ombre Unique range was discontinued (beautiful4u.com:(

This shade was 'No 7 - Declic' and it represented the outcome of several years searching for the perfect shade for highlighting the browbone, because I find that's one of the easiest ways to have a fresh look to your eyes.

For me, the problem with finding the perfect shade for this purpose was that most eyeshadows were either too white (chalky) or the shimmer was too obvious (glitter). Even as a cool-toned person, I still need a certain ratio of yellow/gold spun into the shade for it to look natural on the skin in daylight.

What the Chanel eyeshadow offered was particles of gold milled so finely within the white that it gave a perfect pale 'glow' without looking like glitter. And because of the fine texture, it went on like a dream, really soft.

Now, because the application was generally only on the browbone and not across the lids, I never had to use primer. So what I would advise is getting a light touch of Complice applied as a trial run at the counter to see what the actual wear is like on lids.

I can't vouch for the performance of this particular (newer) range of shadows, and I don't like to think of people spending money when they might find a mid-priced shadow gives better results, but every use of Declic has been a pleasure, despite it being a rather basic shade, because of the formulation.

that's also what i've been looking for gold or champagne colored eye shadows that will open up the eye area. (i'm kind of a no-fuss kind of girl.i can only deal with basic technique)

i also own the urban decay naked palette (has a lot of gold-y type shades) so buying a similar coloured shade might be overkill.

perhaps i should buy a chanel gold coloured pencil instead. might be a better use of $.

my current primer is a year old (also from urban decay) so i might have to dump it.

good advice about asking the makeup artist to apply the complice, i'll ask them to put a primer on one eye.

Urban Decay probably do better pencils than Chanel, in terms of shade range and softness.

Speaking of decay, I don't know whether this new shade is a polished neutral or a deathly greige. This is the sort of colour I'd take ages applying, then after all the effort, I'd decide that I didn't really like it (temptalia.com:(

Chanel Frenzy Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer ($26.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “lilac grey.” It’s a light taupe with a cream finish. There’s a little brown, little gray in it. Looks like the inside of a mushroom to me (aka it’s sooo taupe!). Zoya Farah is a little darker, browner. Essie Sand Tropez is very similar but a smidgen lighter. MAC Inert is grayer, a little darker. It’s the new nude; not beige, not mannequin hands–sophisticated and elevated. Why is taupe always so lovely? I could see this being a really nice go-to for office-appropriate nails.

It’s mostly opaque in two coats, but there is some visible nail line coming through. It does apply fairly well, though. I was expecting major streaking, but it was mostly even and very easy to control. The consistency was a nice balance of thick and thin, not going too far in either direction, so I didn’t have problems with bubbling or pooling, either. I felt like it took a little long to dry but not too much longer than usual.

The Star Product from the autumn range (temptalia.com:(

Chanel Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges Illuminating Powder ($65.00 for 0.63 oz.) is designed to be a beige-based highlighter with an iridescent finish. It’s a soft peachy beige with a very fine shimmer-sheen. It has a glitter overlay that doesn’t seem to go all the way through, so while you might see some sparkles on the initial swatch or application, they’re not there going forward. NARS Miss Liberty is more shimmery but still similar. MAC How Beautiful is more beige. MAC Rose Ole is slightly darker and less peach.

The texture of the powder is very finely-milled, but it does err on the side of powdery–a lot of excess powder is loosened the moment your brush makes contact with it. The powderiness translated on the cheeks, too, but can be taken down by spritzing water (true with most powdery finishes). It does feel so soft and silky, though, so I was disappointed by how it did look powdery when applied. If you like a really subtle highlighter, the way this reflects light is minimal but noticeable–it’s one of the subtler highlighters I’ve come across in the past few months. When I tested the wear on my cheeks, it managed around seven hours before looking a little faded (it was hard to tell, since this is so skin-colored against my complexion).

does anyone know when the sky line nailpolish is supposed to come out? it was supposed to be a july release. is it online only?

my urban decay pencils turned rock hard rather quickly, so i dont think i'll be repurchasing them.

When the fall collection will be available in Europe?
