I can usually spot fakes pretty well, but I have absolutely NO experience with Chanel pieces.

There is a huge scene in asia for sneaker collecting, so I know what you mean about people trying to influence the street prices.
Their luster is very nice. Depending on the light, they can look from black to grey-ish/silver. I guess they're painted somehow; they don't seem like they'd ever chip.
