The 'Authentication' Thread

It is faker than fake. Never was produced. For future questions you can refer to the official "is this authentic?" thread in the Shop Till You Drop section. Maybe a mod can move this?

Fake True Religion Jeans- How can you tell?

I'm not sure if there's a previous thread discussing this topic (tried searching but couldn't find anything) but I heard there are fakes being made in Hong Kong. Does anyone know how to distinguish between the real and the fake? Do all TR jeans have the buddha prints on the inner pockets? If the style number is on the back label instead of the style name does that make it fake? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

99% on ebay is fake...

do not buy designer on there!

even if the reviews are good, the people leaving the comments probably couldn't tell the difference if it smacked them between their eyes!!!

yeah I saw the fake ones once and they're easily distinguished from the real ones... the fake ones are made in China or HK ( real ones are always Made in the U.S.A.)and the real ones has red stitches on the belt hoop

Depends on the brand. If you know your brands and the styling and what to look for, ebay is an amazing resource. You can find pieces for seriously cheap prices, or find things you'd never ever see anywhere else.

Don't knock ebay!

^Agreed.

But yes...with mainstream, easily-copied brands like True Religion, I'd avoid eBay.

Just thought I'd give this thread a friendly bump...

For the Dior Homme experts...

The seller says these are a size 27, and that they measure 28 x 35.5. But I've never heard of DH making anything in a size 27, so I was doubtful...

just asked about this in another thread, but i want to be absolutely sure before i purchase, so are these real or fake? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=63889&item=5355793890&tc=photo

ps, i feel very comforted by the shoe thing, but these were a popular style . . .i think

They were a popular style but not to the extent that the horrible monogram styles are/were.

They are real Jenimmacto, but if you are still unsure i actually have a pair of dior d'trick's (but mine have prince of wales check where the patent is on the front of the shoe and the heel where it is patent on those) and i would be happy to post photos for you so you can compare them.

I can tell you now that they would be a very hard shoe to counterfiet and it wouldn't be worth it cause it'd cost so much to do so, they are very detailed, I am certain that they are authentic :flower: .

Gucci horsebit

I was wondering about the large horsebit bags, as someone said they dont come with a top zip. Is that applicable to all styles. I have seen loads of them on ebay, 99.99% claims to be authentic, some are very obvious, but others take a little work. I contacted a seller, who recently sold one. He says his bags are 100% authentic, and doesnt deal in fakes.

The fact that presentation, feedback, etc is looking good, i am wondering can someone clarify whether his bag was really authentic. It is leather and does have a top zip, does that mean its a fake?

It doesn't exactly look like the type of bag someone would replicate, but I really don't know.

I believe its authentic. I called Gucci in Bond st, and they told me that they do have these in store, and the smaller version does come with zip closure.

i'd be careful... there are soooo many fakes of those floating around ebay and some of them are pretty convincing.
