^ That's a good question- I had thought of that, too! Blair Waldorf was around long before Olivia...I think it is more that Gossip Girl hit TV just about the time Olivia started trying to break into the NY Social Scene, and they had the same sort of look and so on...

BTW- isn't Olivia more like 24?

But haven't you heard that Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of Gossip Girl books also went to Nightingale-Bamford School just like Olivia did. So there may be some connections between Olivia and Blair's character. But then again, Cecily von Ziegesar is so much older than Olivia.. uh.. I don't know..

My point was not that the character Blair Waldorf was a rip-off Olivia Palermo's personality. But I remember that when Leighton was casted for the role, it was pointed out that her looks were similiar to Olivias. That's how i found out who Oliva was. And also, the fact that Oliva is portrayed as a b*tch in "The City" has sort of made her something of "real-life" Blair. That's why there are som many articles out there that compares her with Blair Waldorf.

I doubt Blair is based on Olivia. Blair is a very intelligent girl from a prominent high society family and very much "in" with the NYC upper crust crowd. Olivia is an outsider pretending to be from a high society family and she's apparently not too bright and definately not a Queen Bee like Blair.
