The Cover Challenge (Logos, Tips & Tricks. Ask your technical questions here)

Hi, guys! I have a question. I am no Photoshop expert and I have been struggling to achieve thi type of effect for years.

How do you make your text or the logo into this? Is it through Bevel & Emboss? Or something else? What I do for this one is that I look for a png image that I think is close or somehow looks like the effect used in the actual text/logo and I define it as a pattern. Then I edit the text/logo in 'Pattern Overlay' by choosing the image that I have saved. And then after that, I just do some adjustments in 'Bevel & Emboss' and if I think I got what I am looking for, that's the time I will save it.

And also this one. A gold foil effect.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! :flower:

Top looks like it uses a bit of inner shadow, or could use a little bit of devel and emboss, the bottom looks like a flat texture so this a pattern overlay. Its quite possible that could done it completely by hand not using any blending options

I'd like to mention a site that I've been using a lot (not affiliated) , theplace2.ru . Especially for this weeks 90's Cover Challenge, it can be quite handy, 405 pics of Trish Goff, 11000 pics of Naomi etc. The problem is that the pictures are all uncategorized, so you can get a sickening mix of red carpet, catalogue, covers, editorials and so on. Sometimes the images are credited, sometimes not, but it's worth a visit.

Yo, I've been struggling for a long time with the dimensions of different magazines and the information is sometimes hard to find online.. Basically I've just used the same Z x Y for all the Vogue editions I've tried to do. If someone could give me some pointers also for V, W etc.

The easiest thing to do is open a cover of any magazine you want to work with and then erase or hide the image layer so that you're left with a blank canvas in correct dimensions.

does anyone have vogue méxico's logo? or can you just share your wealth of logo pngs please? i'm kinda new to the cover challenge and would like to get more involved

I'm way behind of what the Internet has to offer and I get easily confused in that swamp. I'm no graphic designer by any means but I'd like to have an own simple site where I could easily upload my best works to show to my friends & acquaintances. What's the best option out there right now?

Anybody knows which font used it Vogue Paris on the headlines back in 2019?
