More On Gucci Guilty, The Fragrance Inspired By Streisand

gucci3-260x180.jpg

Yesterday, we got a sneak preview of Gucci’s upcoming fragrance, Gucci Guilty. We learned about the scent’s composition, the inspiration from Streisand and the Frank Miller-directed TV commercial starring Evan Rachel Wood.

The fragrance: The top notes are mandarin and pink peppercorn; middle notes are fruit and lavender; and base notes are amber and patchouli. It smells good, but the amber and patchouli are a little much for me, personally.

The name: Apparently, Gucci creative director Frida Giannini is a big Streisand fan. The name “Guilty” came to her while she was in her car listening to a Streisand song of the same name. Another source of inspiration for the fragrance? The cover of the 1976 film A Star Is Born starring Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. In fact the resemblance to the print ad is almost striking.

The bottle: The bottle is awesome. It’s Gucci’s first perfume bottle to feature the interlocking G’s and it almost looks like it’s hollow from the front while the liquid is more visible from the sides. It’s simple and chic, has a retro/art deco feel and would just look really pretty on top of my dresser.

The ad campaign: Apparently, Gucci Guilty’s ad campaign is the brand’s biggest ever. As you may know, a 30-second trailer started buzzing around the internet a week or so ago for Frank Miller’s Gucci Guilty, which will debut as a 60-second commercial on September 12th during the MTV Video Music Awards. The short film was shot in front of a green screen in Fellini’s studio in Rome. We got to see a slightly racier version yesterday and let’s just say you get to see more than just a couple of silhouettes undressing. We also learned that all of the tattoos are Evan’s own.

The casting: Frida wanted a girl who embodied the idea of the “Guilty” character, which is basically girly with a sexy edge (hence the “guilt”). As far as the choice of Chris Evans, whose last name happens to be his love interest’s first, they mentioned something about all these super hero movies he’s starring in; so perhaps that’s the direction they wanted to go in with the character.

Gucci Guilty will hit stores in mid-September and will include a lotion, shower gel and shimmer powder. We’re not sure on the price, but it will be tough to call this one a guilt-free purchase!

I just bought Miss Dior Cherie. It's in the mail now, I've wanted it for so long. I can't wait for it!!

I bought Bleu de Chanel at the Airport two weeks ago. Even though it was the packaging that sold me. The scent is real nice.
I'd defiantly recommend the fragrance to anyone. If you like Chanel Allure Homme, you'll love this.

You mean Antidote? It's disappointing to hear that! D: I'm not a guy but I still like it all the same- my sister has got a small sample of it and I reckon it smells pretty darn nice- the dry off scent is where the scent gets interesting for me.

dsoma, thankyou for that link! I went through the steps just for fun and lo and behold, I actually got the perfume I have at home- 'hypnotic poison' for one of the female scents and just for kicks I decided to try out the male fragrances and I got 'Dior Homme' for one of the recomendations mens... to me Dior Homme has got to be my most favourite male perfume ever. Addiction and genius in a bottle  :D

I just bought L'Eau d'Issey for my birthday. I've wanted it for more than a year so I'm happy. It's funny, I don't think it smells nice on my friend who bought it with me, but we both agreed it smells completely different on me. Interesting how much body chemistry can influence even our perfumes . . .

I got Miss Dior Cherie! It smells really nice, but it was really expensive for such a small bottle. I wish it lasted longer, too.

I tried it yesterday and I love this scent on girls.

Does it happen to anyone else that even though you really like a perfume, you won't get it if a friend or someone you're around often wears it regularly? I'm not a fan of smelling like other people, but boy do I feel strange about not wearing some perfumes when I could. :ninja:

^^I feel the same. For example, I bought Chloé few years ago and it's my favourite scent EVER:wub:, but now it became so popular here. Sometimes when I'm walking down the street I can even smell random miss wearing it. And that makes me feel so ordinary.
Nevertheless, I try not to wear/buy the same perfume as my closest friends, but I also have an experience when we both wear the same perfume, but it smells completely different on her than on me.:P

I love Chloé Love and Gucci Guilty btw!:woot:

I got a sample of Givenchy Play For Her free in a magazine, and I have fallen in love with it! Unfortunately, the bottle is horrendously tacky to say the least - don't you hate when that happens?! However, I think I will cast that issue aside and get it, though I may have to shield my eyes in the store

Also, does anyone know of any websites where you can find perfumes that smell similar to other perfumes?

My boyfriend bought me Givenchy's Play For Her Intense but The Perfume Shop messed up and sent him Play For Her. It is HELL having a full bottle of perfume in my kitchen that I can't touch as a courier is coming to pick it up today. It kind of spoiled my birthday to be honest as perfume is the thing to buy me. But it did come with Gucci Guilty samples which I now have firmly listed on my Christmas perfume list.

I also got Lady Million which is heavenly and am planning to buy Aqcua Di Gioia with the money I got.

Has anyone tried YSL Belle d'Opium? I have used the 'regular' Opium for years and wondered what the difference was. I haven't managed to get hold of a sample yet.

Currently I'm using Lacoste touch of pink and Chanel Mademoiselle.

in the very far dry down, it's similar to to the original Opium, but much much lighter. from spraying on to getting there tho, it's sweet, fruity and lightly smoky, from the 'Narguilé' accord (water pipe). i like it, but it's not really 'special'. too light for my taste, but at least it doesn't smell like everything else on the market.

Has anybody smelt Fendi's Fan Di Fendi? I had a quick spritz at Harrods last week and it smelt quite delicious but I didn't get to skin test as I already had Lady Million on. Plus the Harrods perfumry ladies jump on you so it freaks me out.

i was dissapointed with Belle d'opium - i love opium very much (even more the male version) but this is very bland and boring and much to light. It isn't even similar to original imo
the same with new chloes - chloe, normal and solid, are something special but Love, chloe is not at all. sad

god i would love to try Balenciaga's paris - but here in poland no sign of those

I smelt it today and it's wonderful :flower:

And those Harrods women are terrifying with their ambush tactics
