The Etc Etc of Perfumes & Fragrances

I think Fan di Fendi smells good :) altough I didn't buy it.
Does anybody know the Rive Gauche by YSL? My grandma used to have it on, I'm absolutely in love with it right now.

I agree, Belle d'Opium isn't as good as Opium (the male version is wonderful), that makes me notice that I love male fragrances, I regulary use Acqua di Gio.

Untitled by Maison Martin Margiela is seriously awesome, too

From Taylor's thread

This girl ruins everything, I wish John used a model instead of a celeb. I wonder if it smells good, the bottle looks good.

I smelt it today and it's wonderful :flower:

And those Harrods women are terrifying with their ambush tactics

I know! The display was between the two sides of cosmetics and perfumery (at the bottom of the escalators) and I spritzed some onto the Fendi ribbon when a Harrod's lady appeared out of nowhere and started explaining the perfume to me and if I needed help. They are helpful but I wish they knew that not every shopper is a perfume newbie

I just bought Clinique Happy, and I love it quite a lot :ninja: I've been into citrus scents the last year or so. Strange, really, but I think it reminds me of when I was younger.

I got a sample of Belle d'Opium and it's OK, but I won't be rushing out to buy it. I'll stick with the original Opium as I much prefer it on me.

thoughts on solid perfume?

is there anyone here who likes solid perfumes? i make them, and i love them for their portability and because i enjoy the ritual of applying them specifically where i want them. but they must be the right consistency and concentration. i just saw in the adverts for Tom Ford's new perfume that he is offering it in a solid form - i think i may stop by Sephora this afternoon and check it out.

i'd love to hear people's thoughts on solids :flower:

I like solid perfumes! ^^ But as you said, you have to be careful about how much you put on, no slathering all over yourself here! :p It's nice to able to apply it your skin in specific places; sometimes you don't want a perfume all over yourself because it might be too overpowering.. but just a little here and there is great ^_^

Has anyone been able to find out any info on the Nina Ricci - Ricci Ricci Dancing Ribbon? I can't find out if it a new sister of the original scent or if it's the same but in a cuter bottle this Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, I managed to get my hands on a 50ml bottle of V&R's Flowerbomb - the new 2010 Xmas edition, it is so cute and free!

i've never tried solid perfume, however i'm planning on buying some in the near future. i heard somewhere that you get a stronger scent? or is that a rumor?

solids are great because they can be placed in really specific areas without getting dispersed into the air. also, because they are activated by the warmth of your body, you can experience how they develop over time in a different way. i find them much more intimate.

LOL

i think i saw your recent post on ONTD. it was about Leighton Meester fronting the new Vera Wang fragrance.

mmm im wearing pink sugar today....as normal ive had at least 2 or 3 men tell me randomly that they 'like the way i smell" ahahaha they're so awkward...adorable though!:flower:

Hahaha.. kinda strange. Is it a norm for men to do that in Australia?

Although I've never had a guy say to me 'I like the way you smell'; I think most guys are quite open here in Australia- or so I've found; even if they don't know you:p. The way 'I like the way you smell' could be a little creepy as opposed to 'you smell nice' I guess they don't see any harm in giving someone a compliment. :) Vice versa, there's been a few times when I've asked a guy what they're wearing because it just smells too darn nice to not know and they happily tell me ^^

Interesting information because if you do that in my country, you either get weird stares or the police will invite you for a cup of tea at their place :) Guess it is culture difference.

Ah, you're from Hong Kong, right? ^^ Yeah, I wouldn't say anything like that to a stranger in Hong Kong either XD People can usually tell straight away that I'm not from Hong Kong just by some of my actions and what I say.

I just purchased by first Diptyque candle today! It's called Lilas, and smells exactly like lilacs. I'm so happy, it reminds me so much of my childhood!
