The Film Lovers Thread!

One of my favorites is School of Rock! I really relate to Jack Blacks humor, and I find the movie entertaining each time I watch it!

This film is amaaaaazing! I laugh through the whole film when I watch it! You and I think alike, yogini108^_^

Haha it's always nice to find someone with the same taste in movies! (and interest in mka, and avatar making.. :p)
There's so many good parts in school of rock
-(rustling the phone and playing with the cord..) Hello this is Ned Shneebly?
-Oh they're suffering from a rare blood disease...'stickittodaman'-neosis

HAHAA you know what part I diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeed at?

The whole class has to make it look like they've been learning and when the principal comes in, Jack has written on the board:

E = MC2
? x !

hahahhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I laughed for like 10 minutes when I saw that.

haha i laugh so hard EVERY TIME at that part.....
"And therefore E=MC2...Oh!" hahaha so perfect

I want to rent Igby Goes Down since I've heard it's kind of based on Catcher in the Rye? Indirectly. 'Inspired by', more like. Anybody seen it?

I love Igby Goes Down... I own it on DVD.... I think it's special and interesting... great performance by Keiran Culkin.

SO many good actors/characters - Amanda Peet, Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Surandon, Claire Danes, Ryan Phillippe, etc.

I remember a critic saying Igby Goes Down was like a poor man's version of The Royal Tenenbaums. I wholly disagree. The only thing they have in common is the dysfunctional family thing. It's a lot darker than RT as well. I also loved Kieran in it. Should have been the film that made him really.

Oh I find TRT darker than "Igby!" There is suicide and unrequited love and depression in TRT..... but I guess it depends on how each person relates to each film.

oh its been a long time since i saw a very long engagement but i remember enjoying it, i think.....

saw water last night.....
go out and see this movie if you can....!!!!!
i dont want to spoil any of it..... its just magnificent....

I looked for a very long engagement yesterday but I couldn't find it. . .
Is it out on DVD?

^ It is!
You might have to look in the foreign section of movies in the video stores, since it's a French speaking movie.

^
I'll have to look in one of the bigger Video stores. Thanks for letting me know!

I've been waiting in anticipation for a good two years to see Breakfast on Pluto, and today I finally did, 5 long days into it's release. ^_^

i love to criticise a bit of acting, but Cillian Murphy was really, really wonderful. Not that i'm surprised. but i think he has to be seen in this to be believed. And i hope he gets the Oscar nomination there's the talk of.

thoughts of it keep infesting my thoughts since i saw it this morning, and i definitely intend to see it again - something i almost never do. but all the colour and modern, twisted fairytale vibe of it, is especially perfect on a big, big screen.

I was on the bench about Breakfast on Pluto but Strawberry - you have convinced me. I was tempted by the trailer and I heard some great things about Cillian (he's done some pretty good roles recently - too bad he has to be compared with Jonathan Rhys Meyers who's not even HALF as good an actor).

^ I know! the only character Rhys Meyers lets himself play well is himself. :ninja:

I just love this picture of 'Kitten'...
did you happen to see Cillian in Disco Pigs? His first leading role...

Love this thread!

I saw Match Point yesterday. I'm clueless as to why everyone thinks this is Woody Allen's "return to form" The movie was horribly paced and terribly stilted. I wont go into the plot much but tennis pro Chris (jonathan rhys-Meyers) meets rich kids, married one of the rich kids, and has an affair with Nola (scarlett Jo). Chris does something desperate so he can maintain his new wealthy life style.

The acting was horrible (esp. Scarlett). You can just tell they did the scenes hundreds of times but still could not get it right- so stilted and self- aware. but the actors playing the family did well (esp. Emily Mortimer).

But the movie just didnt make sense and was too long. You could tell that maybe Woody wanted to explore class, fate, and luck but he didnt spend much time on the class part which would of been interesting. Possibly the script was too "american"

^Couldn't agree with you more Poppy (read my slating review of this movie earlier in this thread).

Strawberry: I have not yet seen Disco Pigs but it sounds great from what I know of it...might pick it up on DVD!

Gonna be seeing Shopgirl, Breakfast on Pluto and Memoirs of a Geisha this week so will be inundating this thread with my overly-long whiny reviews. :innocent:

I have never seen the attraction of a single Woody Allen film, and I will not be going to see this one.

He has,as always, attempted to mask his total lack of any kind of skill or talent by dragging as many stars as he could into this movie.

When will someone point out that the emperor is,in fact, naked?
