The Hair "Down There"

ice, and some type of painkiller. i wouldnt put a lot of anything with fragrances or overloaded with ingredients in that area, if anything some aloe vera gel and/or polysporin.

Some people dont know what they're doing when performing these brazilians, maybe they didnt prep your hair, maybe your hair was too long, maybe you're jsut way too sensitive, there are endless reasons really but either it was your body's reaction or they did something wrong. But I've held people's hands while they have had them down and tears were coming down their face they were in so much pain, so i empathize with you.

Good god, I have my first appointment for a brazilian on Tuesday!!!!

So I got a Brazilian wax just 2 days ago because my friend talked me into it. It was my first time and it was 50 dollars. The next day I saw some major swelling and the day after which is TODAY I am completely broken out in little red bumps and white heads (PIMPLES) in which you can pop and puss comes out. Its HORRRRIFYING> I have no idea what went wrong. I will never get a brazilian wax again in my life. This is the worst ever. I dont even know if this is common. our other friend went for her first time and hers is perfectly fine! I am super depressed and in pain. Very bad Pain. I can even show you gals pics if you want but I dont want to get kicked off. I will just show you the top part and how bad it looks if i can. What should i do? People say if i put creams on it , it might break out even worse then it already is.. Someone just shoot me. please :blink::(

This happened to a friend of mine the first time she ever had waxing done, I'm not sure what she really did to make things better, but I know in time it went down - and the next time it was a much better experience for her. Perhaps your skin just reacted badly to the wax? Do you have sensitive skin?

LetThemEatCake nailed it advice wise!

I think your skin is probably too sensitive to handle getting waxed.. (judging from your avatar, if that is you, you look rather fair).

I've had my eyebrows waxed with a similar result as yours.. I had many tiny white heads around my brows for 2 weeks!! That's staring you right in the face.. so if it's any comfort.. if you stay celibate for about 2 weeks no-one will ever have to see the mess. :flower:

My skin is super sensitive also so I just can't imagine being waxed :s My eyebrows stay bright red for hours after getting waxed and my skin is so sensitive. I can't eat anything with lots of artifical colors, preservatives, or flavours in it without breaking out. No waxing for me I'm afraid!

lol how funny.. talking of one night stands on the most romantic day of the year..

but back to the waxing if you are really sensitive then I wouldnt try waxing unless by a professional.. you could try the bikini line or a small area just to see first

^

I'd definitely go to a professional. Not something I want to try at home

Yeah but if your like me you will be way too afraid to be with anyone because they might think you have a disease down there.. :( Sucks.. Bumps everywhere whiteheads red dots. Raised Skin inflamed. Swollen.. Looks extra large down there! Its embarassing. Ive been in hiding for 2 weeks now.. :( My boyfriend finds it super gross so I feel insecure. never again will I wax I am comfortable shaving upwards always have. If I did ever wax again HARD WAX is the way to go!!! For sensitive skin.

I have insanely sensitive skin and waxing is the best for me. Shaving agitates the skin way too much. I think it most likely was a reaction to the type of wax that was used. Don't be scared to do it again though. The person who does the treatment can make it or break it.

Wow, what a thread!
It's crazy how different people are affected by different things in so many different ways!
Anyway, I'm just wondering how short you girls trim (if you are just trimming). Doesn't it make the hair sharp and stubbly?

^Yeah, some of these waxing stories are kind of O___O
I have never waxed, and I don't think I will. I shave most of it, and what's left I trim pretty short. Even if I was single I would keep shaving and trimming, because I feel much more fresh and a lot cleaner that way, especially once the weather gets warmer.

I'm the same as you Meg, waxing seems to be the best option for my incredibly sensitive skin... And I agree that people shouldn't be afraid to try a few different places before finding a beautician that works for them - it's not going to work perfectly the first time... Sort of like finding the perfect hair stylist :ninja:

I used to wax but I would always get ingrown hairs that looked like some sort of an STD. Ever since I started shaving again I've had no problems like that

I would never ever try to wax myself. I always get it professionally done (using hot wax, not warm. Warm is fine for legs but not bikini line) by someone who knows what they're doing! And I've not had any problems with my current beautician.

Oh dont be so self-conscious, although I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend...but it's not your fault.

I think you should give it another go when your skin is all calmed down, healed and normal again, like in a month or so. Definitely try hard wax like you mention. I dont like waxing people myself, (I'm an aesthetician, and this is routinely a job priority) I get a bit nervous because the whole idea of ripping away at your skin (and everyone's skin IS sensitive) is scary and seems mean to me. So I didnt get far with waxing...I go very slow on clients and people want it done fast. Well I go slow from the neck down, eyebrows I can do quickly.

ANYWAY try the hard wax and tell the aesthetician that you had a bad experience. Are you on any medication that might have caused this breakout? These are questions that should always be on a waxing form or asked by the aesthetician, because certain medications can cause a contraindication, which is when a treatment could cause harmful or negative side effects to those who have specific medical or skin conditions.

I'll copy something from my textbook from when I was in school, it's a Client Consultation note:
Before any hair removal service, a consultation is always necessary. Ask the client to complete a questionnaire that discloses all products and medications, both topical (applied to the skin) and oral (taken by mouth), along with any known skin disorders or allergies. Allergies or sensitivities must be noted and documented. Keep in mind that many changes can occur between client visits. Since the last time you saw them, clients may have been placed on medications such as antidepressants, hormones, cortisone, medicine for blood pressure or diabetes, or such topical prescriptions as Retin-A, Renova, and hydroquinone. A client on any one of these prescriptions may not be a candidate for hair removal.
