The Hair "Down There"

has anyone done laser hair removal down there? what are some side effects? I think i saw a post once that you can get scars down there from it?

i did laser down there and had no scarring or anything... pretty good results..
i was very happy with it and definitely consider it be one of the best things i ever did...

i started the process about... 6 years ago i think
and it took about 6 months with the treatments spaced out and everything was gone...
which was awesome..

i've had some regrowth since then (in the last couple years i think) and have lately been considering going in for a touch up but even the regrowth is pretty manageable...
whatever has come in has been sparser/thinner/less dense than before and can be taken care of with a quick swipe of the razor, no ingrowns really and no razorburn (which had been a big concern for me before the laser)..

i would recommend it... and they also have numbing creams to deal with the pain during treatments...
i never used any, but i have a high threshold for pain and my lady iced down the area to numb it up before starting...
probably a bit old school but it worked

Do wax strips work down there? I bought The Body Shop wax strips today... But it seems like they aren't strong enough to tug those hairs out... Or do I have to wait till the hair grows much longer?

^^i think wax strips should work...
hair usually has to be at least a quarter of an inch long (or something like that) for it to work though

So I've started getting brazillians. The first time hurt like hell, however I was surprised because it did not hurt as much as I had been led to believe. Of course it was in no way pleasant, but was not as bad as I expected--especially with my sensitive skin.

Going today for a wax...Not getting the brazilian though. I won't be able to keep up with regular waxes, but am hoping it will make shaving a bit easier. Start off with a good base or whatever...

Argh I'm SO tired of shaving Never looks really "neat & clean" afterwards as it should and the day after shaving I can already see + feel new hair.
My pain limit is pretty high, so I guess a waxing or epilation wouldn't be that horrible for me. But it just costs sooo much... I mean, I already looked for a good epilator several times but never bought one because the cheapest (which are still of acceptable quality-wise) are about 100€. And if you go and have a waxing done, it's quite pricey aswell.

Though: what would you recommend? Having a brazilian done at a studio, several times a year or buying a good (and therefore pricey) epilator? I guess the pain is pretty much the same, but of course - waxing is much faster

^ I find epilators to be more painful, and made worse because they take longer. Also I think it's harder because you're doing it yourself (same as I can never successfully wax at home). Epilators are fine for legs I think, but I wouldn't do my bikini line with one.

^ Yeah, that's what I though aswell - that epilating will take longer and is probably more for legs than the bikini-area. Well I guess I'll give the waxing a try then

i wouldn't recommend epilating for the bikini area... takes too long and is far too painful...

even if you have a high tolerance for pain, that area is sensitive and it is kind of unbearable (I have a high tolerance for pain as well and i couldn't handle epilation for that area, though i agree it is ok for legs--though still painful and prolonged)

I get laser hair removal done and while they do the bikini line they wont do it on the "more sensitive" areas. So I just got a brazilian after a long time and it HURT I'd forgotten just how much it hurtttts. But I love it and would definitely do it more often now on. [if you do it after a long time the skin isn't used to it so it bleeds a little] some of my friends take painkillers before they go to wax.

^Why do they not do the more sensitive areas? My cosmetician does everything, as painful as it may be.

BTW, my laser removal treatment went from May 2009 until October 2009 (I had 5 treatments) and so far none of the hair has come back, so I'm quite satisfied with the result

To all the people that can't stand the pain, there is a miracle cream called "Elma" its amazing i apply it on my bikini 30 minutes and 15 minutes before my brazilian wax and I feel no pain at all it numbs the area and is just a miracle cream!

Oh, so it's like a tolerable pricking sensation?
IDK, it's just that I heard from some people that their removal treatment really hurt a lot. But like you said, maybe the cream just wasn't applied on properly.

Well each person's pain tolerance is different, so there's no solid answer...I guess you just have to experience it for yourself...
