I have seen RG in togo and thought it was beautiful. It is a clear bright red. If you like rouge vif, then you will like RG IMO.

Grill- get the etoupe- what othe colors do you already have? personally, I like rouge VIF over rouge G and i dont think it looks good in togo- etoupe is a fabulous color- so chic I think!

Thanks so much for your responses! I'm kind of leaning towards the RG at the moment (sadly, Rouge Vif is no longer available in the grainy leathers with the exception of fjord).

However, I have a sneaky feeling that the RG is prettier in clemence than in togo and I have always been rather afraid of clemence's suppleness over the rigidity of togo with which I am familiar.

I am really fussy with colour and shades of colours and am aware how differently H colours take to the individual leathers. If I went for the etoupe - then togo would definitely be it though. But I have a yen for a red at the mo rather than a neutral!

Grill, etoupe and RG are such different feelings. Etoupe is so subtle whereas the RG is not. I didn't realize you felt that togo was so rigid. Actually I prefer it over clemence, but while it is stiffer, I never thought of it as being rigid. Do you think that clemence takes the color more "softly" than togo? The togo bag that I saw was pretty bright.

^ Hi Jane! I know RG and etoupe are so different. On its own I love etoupe but I am not sure whether I'd be better off going for a bright pop of colour than something that's going to be subtle? Basically, I am being swayed towards the reds at the moment because I have been thinking about the colours I typically wear which are black, white, grey with either blue, black or grey jeans. Navy or black with colours sometimes too and wondering what will go with or compliment my everyday wardrobe as I intend this to be an everyday tote. Etoupe definitely would go but if there was a beautiful rich red but not an orange or a brown red I think I would choose the red. I am not worried about the bag being bright - I was hoping that it would accent my largely monochromatic wardrobe!

Just from looking at pics of RG in Togo and in Clemence on the internet on this forum and ebay I have got the impression that RG in Togo is lighter possibly more scarlett, a bit more orange than the colour in clemence - which I thought was deeper and possibly bit darker but not pinkish either. I was told that in clemence rouge g was the most similar to the old rouge vif clemence which is sadly no longer made in that leather.

I don't think of togo as rigid in the same way as fjord or epsom for example, I just knew that on the scale of rigidity it was above clemence which is known as a very malleable leather.

Currently I have 2 togo birkins in size 30cm one black and one in blue jean.
When I go to the store to place my order I am going to go with an open mind. I am going to check out the colours (hopefully) on other small leather objects to be sure I pick the right one. I want to choose a colour and a leather that I will love because I want a bag thats with me for the long haul!

^^Grill, on the basis of what you have said and the bags that you already have, I'd say that red would be a really good choice and addition for you. I did not think that RG in togo had orange in it. If it had, I would not have liked it. I like my orange to be orange and my red to be red KWIM? Etoupe might be a little dull for your wardrobe. I have the same issues myself and find that red is always is the right pop of color.

I have to decide between Rouge Vif in Fjord and Rouge Garance in clemence or togo. Currently, I am leaning towards RG clemence over togo however am still concerned that this colour is a bit hard. The Rouge Vif Fjord looks beautiful in pictures - bright red but slightly softer than the RG clemence - however I am unfamiliar with this leather. I love Katie Holmes HAC and was wondering if this was Rouge Vif Fjord?! And whether this photo captures the bag's true colour?

As for etoupe, I am not sure whether this shade is really for me. Looking at it in real life it is a definite brown colour and the only brown I really like for me for a birkin is ebene. However, I am not sure about current availability of Ebene and furthermore it wouldn't be a first choice for this year's H purchase.

I have not seen Rouge Vif in Fjord in person so I do not know, but personally I would pick Rouge G in Clemence. No offense to any one who likes Etoupe but personally I do not like it. It is not ugly but it is kind of bland? I do not know how to describe it...like it is pretty but not wow or any thing.

Ebene is very pretty :)

Hi everyone...it has been quite some time since I posted here so I wanted to say hello to all my hermes friends....quick question for everyone....what is a darker color in shiny croc:
Blue jean shiny croc or
Blue Brighton shiny croc?

Also, has anyone seen a production version of the white matte birkin that was on the spring runway show? One of the SA's told me it is not available...any ideas my experts?

hermesfreak - I'm sorry I'm not a croc expert so I don't know if this helps your query but BB is darker than BJ in the regular leathers so possibly it is the same case in croc. However, I do know that all colours appear differently on the various Hermes leathers so hopefully you'll get someone more knowledgeable than I to answer your query!

Okay, so I placed my feb podium order for an etoupe 35 cm Birkin with PHW. As I didn't place the order through my regular store - FSH - I can imagine that the long wait they warned me about is true. I really hope it arrives this year though as I won't be happy if I get it after the 2009 price hike hits!

I am still interested in the Hermes reds - its just that in the interim and for my first 35cm it had to be etoupe. Also the store had no colour samples in any of the leathers I was interested in for me to have a look at but they had a stunning etoupe kelly and a travel bolide in gris tourterelle (another favourite colour of mine).

^^Hermesfreak I too think the Croc. in BB would be darker as I know Graphite is much darker in Croc. than in say Togo.

As far as the white matte Croc. bags I think they are lovely...Let's hope they do produce it!!

Hermes Freak... Actually, BJ is darker than BB on croc. The listings don't say its Matt (as some do list it's a matt finish), so i'm assuming the below links are for shiny
