The How Do I Get This Look? Thread

She´s wearing everything! lol :D

Start off with foundations, then follow with concealer mixed with a tiny bit of foundation, and apply it on the eye area (under the eyes and the lids) and wherever more coverage is needed.
Finish by setting your face with some loose/pressed powder in a neutral tone.

The contour the eyes with some black pencil and soften with a Q-tip. Line the inner rim of the eyes also!
Use a neutral eyeshadow on the lids and follow with mascara on top and lower lashes.

Follow using blush, a cream type will look more like the picture.

And end by using a rosy toned lipstick.

Just don´t forget that just because this works on this girls it doesn´t mean it will work for you.
Instead of focusing what you will wear, think more on your hair and skin colour, because such makeup can look a bit "too neutral" on a person with strong features. ;)

Thanks a lot! Thanks for the time and again sorry for the size it's damn huge!

Any ideas how to achieve this look on Daria (in the background)? Particularly the eyes...

I loved the make up at Dior this season (the white eye shadow one) so can anyone recommend me a really opaque/lasting/thick/creamy white eyeshadow that will let me achieve this look?

By the looks of it, it doesn't look like it was achieved with a power shadow, as it's a matte opaque effect

There's always the theatrical supply store and 'clown white' pan makeup.

(I used to mix this with foundation to get my actual ideal foundation shade when I was a very pale teen.)

Lily D has flawless skin!! Well, I was just wondering in this picture what the girl used to make her top lids so shiny? And her skin looks so perfect! What type of foundation do you think she used (or perhaps she's just blessed with that type of skin  )?

hye park - i think you should be looking at a cream based eyeshadow. first prep with a little concealer or eye make up primer and slather the shadow with a damp brush. let dry in layers.

sw33tricecakes - her eye makeup looks like a chanel limited edition kabuki inspired compact set which included glittery black shadow, red shadow, and a strip of 'lacquer' (texture was like a lip gloss) for the eyes which blends the shadow making it wet looking. there are some 'lacquer'-ish eyeshadows from smashbox but not in clear like chanel. i suspect her skin is a combo of both but if anything she may have used a touch of lancome photogenic radiance foundation and sparkly blush or maybe a swipe of shiseido shine sheets which could be why her skin is matte but glowing.

Thanks for answering Pinky :flower:. Bleh, wish I could of gotten the kabuki set! Do you know if it's still available in certain stores?

probably not since it was years ago and from what i understand it was limited edition..

you could achieve the same look with a powdery black shadow and a substitute for the 'lacquer'.. maybe something from smashbox or the new chanel holiday compact set (also limited ed).. don't quite rbr but i think they had a slick shiny clear gold/silver color in there..

you could use the bare minerals, bare escentual, in white and add water, to make it more like a foundation consistency and just smear it on , with your finger.

I don't think this is gloss on her eye. I would outline with Bobbi Brown gel liner, so that it stays on and has that dark line. Then use a brown shadow, like my fave, bare escentuals and sweep it on. The rule is to shape the brown like a number seven backwards and just above the crease. So it would be the straight, or bottom part of the seven towards the inner corner of eye-but don't go into that corner, then bring the shadow across, above the crease, and then the "7" top part of the seven, down towards the outer corner of your eye. Blend...
Then use shimmer on the brow bone in silver it looks.

As for foundation, you can try some light reflecting foundation such as Clinique´s Gentle Glow and you can skip the powder, otherwise it will loose the glowing effect like you see on the pic.
Use a cream blush too.

As for the eyes, they really have gloss!!!
They are lined with either khol or some gel eyeliner and brow eye shadow was applied and then mascara.

Gloss on the eyes is allways the last thing to be used as it makes the eyeshadow to crease and also melts the liner.
So just use a bit on your ring finger and then do some small taps on the are you want, on the pic is used more under the brow and a tiny bit on the crease.

Calvin klein used to have a really nice eye gloss but the Lancome one-called Fantasy Tubes which is far better in my opinion.
If you are not interested in buying any, you can use clear lip gloss and it´s ok too. :)

If there is one thing i am totally crazy about in makeup in a glossy eye... :D

I think a very dark blue eyeshadow and a very thick mascara, my girlfriends swear by YSL cosmetics. YSL have a nice ltd ed blush set too for the cheeks. The lipstick I think would be a bronzey colour, highlighted by gloss. I think the girl has quite a nice skin tone already however.

Thanks very much for everyone's suggestions, will definitely look into them. lostinemotion, the bare minerals thing with the foundation consistancy sounds fantastic, so its a bit of a pain in the **** that I can't get it in the UK (where I live, at least:angry: ). Pinky, you have any suggestions for a cream based eyeshadow. Any particular brands? I've already checked the biggies out (aka. MAC, NARS, Shu Uemura) and they either don't sell cream shadows or they only do cream-to-powder types:(

It can be tricky and to be honest I haven't quite mastered it yet either, however I do know it is of the utmost importance to blend blend blend (as you can see in the pic)
