these are really beautiful designs. i live on the wrong side of the country, but i would love to get my hands on some of his work. can anyone tell me about some L.A. designers doing anything like this?
Bon&Ging and Edith Palm are both from LA and a bit like him.

fave fashion designer

I am here in Canada and I know of a lot of great designers here.
One of them is Beata Dirycz, she does knitwear, but not typical knitwear. Its edgy and sexy. Anyone else heard of her? Or bought anything of her site?

just reading the first page, in comparison to the united states, i think australia is very different. in all our capitals, we have a great local designer market. there are certain areas where all the boutiques are and there is definately no shortage of small designer labels. however, i doubt there is much of a moneymarket for up and coming designers; like all designers, you have to wait until you build a following to bring in the big bucks and international buyers and i think that also, because we are a small country, there is less opportunity to design without having to consider the consumers. most of our top labels have stark similarities in laidback style and use of earthy colours and materials. with designers such as tina kalivas now being more widely recognised (her latest collection being similar to that of donna karan's re: colour palette and sixties influence with a younger feel in its playful cuts), hopefully this will inspire a new crop of designers to take on a different direction!
