The Interior Decor Thread! #1

Not sure if anybody visits this thread anymore, but it's right up my alley.

This is the first time that I've visited this thread, but I am a big fan of designer furniture, lighting , etc.

My latest project is the Cassina Waddell dining table. My wife and I are looking for a set of chairs for the table. This table will be in our breakfast area and we're contemplating the Victoria ghost chair by Kartell. We're also thinking about the Bertoia chair by Knoll.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

i really like those pantone chairs posted in the last couple pages of the industrial design thread. i'm not sure if they are being sold...but they rock!

The Panton chair is available for purchase here and they have several colors: http://www.designpublic.com/shop/vitra/1179

I have some more favorites I forgot to post:

And I don't have children or plan to for a very long time, but I ran across this great company, Nurseryworks, which makes fantastic California modern nursery furniture and fell in love:

with the midsummer night shade....i still don't understand whether it's a lamp shade or a shade for a hanging light (ie the main light in the room)....I know some of you have seen it in person....can you tell me?

glad this thread has been revived! And still need an answer on the midsummer night shade! I don't quite understand how that adhesive stuff works....i looked on the colette website and couldn't find it?

funny......I was just thinking of asking a question in this thread and it popped up..........

I need a bedside table, but my room is very small so it has to be under 15 inches square/diameter. I have a stool from Phillipe Starck that could work, but I need it to be a little more functional.....lnot just a table top for an alarm clock and my phone...like actually holding something with a shelf or a drawer......I like contemporary, but am leaning toward something more natural....like the cork tables at DWR.....but I thought you guys might be able to post some other options under 300.

somebody answer Meg's question.....I'd like to know more about it as well:flower:

Check out West Elm and BoConcept on W18 (and why not walk into Fisch for the Hip while you are at it!), they might have something...

Not sure about Meg's question.

Re Megs's Q - maybe this stuff is like toothpaste Meg & you squirt it on the wall? who knows though?

I looked at west elm this morning......I feel like it's kind of overpriced cheap stuff.....

am I crazy that I'm thinking of the Starck Gnome stool.........

and Fisch for the Hip keeps the same hours as me:doh:

what about a little antique cabinet purechris?

love the idea of an antique cabinet. Faust-don't you have the midsummer nights shade?

My one housemate goes on and on about arne jacobson chairs (as I think it was arne jacobson who designed a lot of things for his college, St.Catz, at Oxford) does anyone have a link to an actual news thing about it, as I don't want to direct him to tfs :ninja:

antique doesn't really work for me.........battered antique might be an option though............

.........I was also thinking something like a raw wood stump......I saw it in the window of a carpentry shop months ago....but I don't think they were selling it that way....it was their material.........but again, then it is just a stand for an alarm clock.....

Meg my brother LOVES ARne jacobsen too.....he bores us all stupid going on about how great the chairs are!!!!

purechris - antique can work really well when contrasted with modern.

I actually really like the idea, but am not sure how it would work wedged inbetween the bed and the hangrail.......but I may just have to get up early on Sunday and stroll through the flea market....haven't been since they moved it......

thx:flower:

oh God H, everytime we pass an Arne Jacobson chair he points it out to me.

I like the wood stump idea Chris

No, I have the Garland light - similar idea, different execution. Mine is made out of metal so it hangs by virture of being tangled together.

PureChris, I agree, but it's in the places like these that you sometimes find gems...
