The MAC Makeup Thread

That's what I may be thinking, I know Cyndi Lauper may have had something to do with it too. Lady Gaga would be absolutely perfect for MAC, though.

Euristocrats 2 was out at Nordie's today...and I honestly am in trouble. The only items I don't want are Naked Paris (fugly) and Local Colour (blah). I bought Costa Chic, which is gorgeous. Think Vegas Volt but more pink, and a frost finish. I've got a new holy grail here, folks. Internationalist is THE best of the Dazzleglasses, and Roman Holiday is one that not everyone will like, but you need to try. Via Veneto, on the other hand...talk about a bit of a letdown. (I still want VV, and am B2Ming for it on Thursday...)

I would read reviews on sephora to find the ones you want to try, then go to a sephora and they can make you little samples so you can find the one that works for you. Prabably my favorite coverage was diorskin nude but it's not for oily breakout prone skin. Other good ones are dior capture totale, MUFE HD, MUFE matte velvet for oily skin, shiseido the makeup, shu uemura face architect, lorac breakthrough. I use SK II airtouch right now which is just phenominal - it covers everything and looks completely natural but the price really makes me cringe ($50/6 wks) and the machine clogs so it's not good when your in a hurry.

hey thanks but we dont have a sephora here :) some would probably be out of my budget but I'll keep trying
thanks everyone

i don't want much at all from the upcoming collections. some of these aren't even for-sures, just items i want to examine -

euristo - cockney and costa chic LSs
colour craft - triple fusion MSF
graphic garden - nada
baby bloom - nothing and i see this as a completely pointless launch
love that look - style snob ES...maybe grand entrance
MAC collection - photorealism quad, haunting ES
flirt with fall - nothing

that's far enough in advance. LOL!

mk's beauty - you might want to check youtube for drugstore recommendations. i know a lot of girls favor revlon, but i'm not sure which one.

I figure I probably will skip Colour Craft for the most part; I just want Porcelain Pink or Sunny by Nature. I would get a few of the blushes if I could but funds are limited. I also heard that the striped MSF's are a giant waste of money, unfortunately:( E2 is amazing. Cockney will probably sell out, as it is a red and many of the recent reds have sold out. Costa Chic is nice but you may want to use a lip plumper or something before hand-it really settles into the fine lines of the lips. Graphic Garden has become nada for now for me as well, because it will all end up at the CCO. I took a look yesterday and the warmer palette of the two is absolutely gorgeous, while the cool is nice and has some colours you don't see everyday. I have a colour similar enough to the purple, though. The brush sets do feel better than the holiday or Hello Kitty ones. The 168 is hideous but the 252 feels nice and the 129 is not scratchy. The lip bags are hideous though, I'm sorry. Yes, you're getting three products and a cute bag for $34.50-but they are so similar it's not funny. The look boxes all blend to me as well. Boring!

costa chic may be too frosty for me, but we'll see. cockney may be too orange.

triple fusion is just a maybe but because i'm fair (and want to put my 188 to use!), it may work as a bronzer. i have a few resort trips coming in a couple of months, so it will be nice to give me a glow.

Honestly, Sunny by Nature might be better for you, but that's just me.

You sound like you have the same sort of skin as me. I use Mac Studio Fix in NC15 and it works really well for a night out. Covers all my nasty blemishes, and what doesn't get covered I use Mac Studio Sculpt concealer over. I've used nearly every foundation that has been recommended here, but this is the only one that stays on my face without coming off.

I don't understand why woodwinked is so popular, it's supposed to be universally flattering but it looks horrible on me unless I use it as a crease color

i like it as a liner. my favorite brown is corduroy though. it is perfect for a smoky eye that isn't black and takes zero skill to apply/blend out.

i'll have to look into sunny by nature. is it a permanent MSF (thinking probably not)?

I haven't tried Woodwinked, to be honest. I rarely ever do neutrals and I have Amber Lights, which is plenty for me.

Sunny by Nature is NOT permanent. It's a Colour Craft MSF, so it comes out in about a week. I need Porcelain Pink, and I know that will sell out. However, MSF's have not been selling out as much lately, especially because they got bumped up to $27 apiece.

My F&F order finally came...and holy cow, Show Orchid is bright. It makes Hollywood Nights look wimpy. I'll have pictures up later today comparing it to that and Girl About Town, because it's quite interesting to see how different they truly are.

i no longer have woodwinked and i've only owned it once, but it was no better or worse than most brown ESs. i definitely like amber lights better. it's one of my oldies, but goodies!

i checked out soft and gentle MSF. a bit too shimmery, but i do love the color. i'll check out sunny by nature. temptalia just said her sources are saying colour craft will be released tomorrow. i swear, we just blink and there's a new collection out!

edit: oh, costa chic was a wreck on me (i looked plucked from the '80s and i mean that in a bad way) and cockney is a winner!

That would be SO good if Colour Craft is being released tomorrow, and I would not be surprised because E2 got moved up by a week. It also gives some time between those and Graphic Garden, and then between the late July collection. My mum and I are headed to the Freestanding anyways, and I am hoping to get a 226, perhaps.

Costa Chic, the more I use it, is not so universally-wearable after all. I actually like Vegas Volt way more. I think that if it had been a bit darker it would have been so much better. I know that I will use the heck out of this, because I love corals, but at the same time it won't work for everyone. Cockney though, I want. Not a huge priority because I do more corals and pinks, and I'm hypnotized by Show Orchid.

I have a question that hopefully some of you MAC addicts could help me with.
I recently bought Venetian lipgloss, (and it's only the second mac gloss I've bought) and the texture seems off to me. I have only used one of the HK glosses but it seems much smoother and it sits nicer on my lips then Venetian. Venetian seems to be clumpy and uncomfortable on my lips.
So my question is, has anyone else experienced this with MAC glosses? Is it normal or should I try and return it? I love the colour but hate wearing it because it feels so thick and dry and clumpy.

Venetian is a Lustreglass, so it's a different formula. The Lustreglasses are, from my experience, less sticky. I think you may be having the issue because of the brush applicator-it may be worth your time to clean off the applicator and then try it again. Also just do thin coats.

which ones are lustreglasses? are they in a fat/long tube like dazzleglasses? if so, i really dislike those. they are very goopy/heavy.

i really never liked any MAC lip products until the revamp of lipglass and i do like the lip gelees.

Lustreglasses are in the same sort of tube as the Lipglass, the main difference being a brush applicator instead of a doe-foot applicator, and the formula being a little less sticky.

They definitely aren't promoted as much-the only collection in the last year and a half that had them was Naughty Nauticals, in addition to the two that go in with the holiday gift sets. They're quite nice, I like them for the pearl when I don't feel like going Dazzleglass-which surprisingly is often sometimes.

just got fluidline in blacktrack and viva glam lipstick in the brightest red they had.
