The MAC Makeup Thread

That'd probably be the original Viva Glam. I haven't gotten any of the lippies yet because I'm always getting LE items...figure they will always be around while my LE stuff won't.

Venetian is a Lustreglass, so it's a different formula. The Lustreglasses are, from my experience, less sticky. I think you may be having the issue because of the brush applicator-it may be worth your time to clean off the applicator and then try it again. Also just do thin coats.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't sure if the texture was or wasn't supposed to be like it is :P Yeah I'm not a fan of the brush, I like the doe-foot ones better, I think that once my other lipglass is finished I'll wash off the doe foot and then switch it with the one that came with venetian :P

That would be a good way to go. I personally love brush-style applicators, but doe-foot ones are good for certain things as well.

Oh the 131 and 226 are now online on the MAC site...figured I would let you all know before it sells out. The rest of Colour Craft will be up tomorrow online.

I have one of the brush applicator glosses ... the brush is all messed up, with the bristles sticking out every which way :innocent: So for that reason I prefer the sponge.

I am in slight mourning over hitting the pan on my favorite Dovefeather ... at a certain point the 'bald spot' will begin to drive me crazy & it will have to go

I like the brushes only because I feel they are neater, but then again I have mainly Dazzleglasses with the brush applicator, and that's a heavier formula. If push comes to shove, I have a small supply of disposable lip brushes.

Tata, may I ask what you do with dovefeather? I have a similar color from lancome and I never know how to wear it

^ Sure ... I wear it as the darker color with either Pincurl or Mylar when I want a subtle look ... like when I'm wearing lighter colors, or when I'm wearing red lipstick.

I just went to go see Colour Craft...and I am exhausted. They were not lying when they said it was a huge collection! I picked up a 226 and then Trimming Talk lipstick. If you missed out on Show Orchid, Trimming Talk is a decent dupe-the main differences are that TT is a frost (Show Orchid is an AC), and Show Orchid is brighter. The MSF's are decent-however Triple Fusion is very light and shimmery. The mono ones are all very low shimmer. The blushes are lovely, but I don't really like the eyeshadows.

need help with mac paints untitled. how do i use it under eyeshadow?
i tried it on. it creased a bit. i didn't prep my eyelid or anything.
just the paint and eyeshadow. can i use it under my eyes, near the waterline?

i HATE the way they split the pan into four sections! it's like they've just run out of ideas. i'm feel really uninspired by colour craft. i don't think i'm getting anything but the 226.

I haven't used Untitled, but I have Canton Candy and Chartru, and I don't have any problems with creasing. I imagine you could use it under the eyes, because it is more of a cream finish, I believe.

As for the MES, I think they were trying to have a new idea, and they wanted to get the number of products down. I, personally, want there to be more monos-either super-veined or not. For a lot of people, a quad is a great idea, because they think "Oooh! More colours!" The best MES in the last year were Sea/Sky and Fresh Green Mix, by far.

just wondering if anyone can recommend a brown matte eyeshadow that compliments a very fair skintone? i have corduroy at the moment, but i'm finding it too harsh and reddish.

i'm very fair and that's the one i'd recommend. i smoke it out across my eyelid for a softer smokey eye than using black. i find it quite wearable, and it's one of my favorite colors i've picked up just on a whim.

^ I've had luck with soft brown, even though it's probably the least originally named mac shadow ever. It's a good bit lighter than corduroy though.

It's sorta on the brown side but my mum swears by Quarry. Kid is also good, it's a lighter one and it's a veluxe finish. Give Soft Brown a try as well. I'm not as good with the mattes, unfortunately-I do not own a single MAC matte.

ahhh fantastic, thanks thesiren, Miss Mod and Trista, i'll check out the colours now! :)

I just purchased ricepaper as a browbone highlight and I love it! The colour is fairly subtle but it does what its meant to do. I'm asian with slightly darker skin so if anyone is looking for something like that I highly, highly recommend it.

I'm also trying out fluidline in blacktrack for the first time and I've used it a couple times and I quite like it. The only thing is I'm trying to find a better brush for it. Right now I have an angled brush but I think I want to try and find a flat tip brush for it.

I'm so sad that I missed out on the F&F sale because I could have picked up a bunch of brushes. I'm kind of new to MAC but I'm really liking the stuff that I have tried out as of late. I've used a powerpoint pencil for years in permaplum and I absolutely loved it but I decided to switch it up and I'm trying the teddy kohl now as I've used the powerpoint into a little stub.

So can someone fill me in on what CCO is? I really want to pick up some new brushes but they're so expensive! =(

My highlight of choice is Crystal Avalanche-it fits in well because my skin is naturally on the pale side, and I need the shimmer. Nylon is okay but Solar White is way, way, way better.

As far as a great fluidline brush, I like the 210, or the edge of the 231. The 212 I didn't like as much-most people do prefer an angled brush. I haven't tried one myself though; so I can't help on the effectiveness on an angled brush.

I know that they will probably do another F&F sale in a few months, so that will be good for brushes. I know next time (if I get a job by then) I will be getting multiple brushes-138, 187, 228, and 263. I also would pick up some Pro Pans, as I would prefer to get my perm shadows in pan form.

CCO=Cosmetics Company Outlet, although it's officially called The Cosmetics Company Store. They sell MAC, EL, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, and other brands owned by Estee Lauder. Typically the brushes are the brush sets and then LE brushes, however you can get some permanent ones there at the CCO discount.

I have a feeling that the "Love that Look" and "Makeup Art" collections are going to bleed me dry. :(
