Apparently MAC foundation is bad for photographs. At least this is what I hear. Also the problem could be if you're wearing a physical sunscreen :ninja:

Can anyone recommend some good eyeshadow colors for me? I have very fair skin, green eyes, and brown hair.

I'd like to try some purples or blues, as well as some neutrals.

Parfait Amour is a bright and beautiful violet, or Violet Pigment, really vibrant color.

as for blue e/s: Deep truth is a gorgeous dark blue, for a light jeans shade try Fade

Thank you, ragtag and ambidextrous. I'll be sure to check out those colors. :flower:

What about some more neutral colors, like a soft champagne or some browns?

MAC Shroom seems to be a fairly universally loved champagne color... not too shimmery and is great to highlight with. I don't use many browns but I do love Mothbrown. It's a greyish purplish taupe (hard to describe, not truly brown, though I do count it as a neutral) and is fairly iridescent. Depending on which way the light hits, the color seems to change - but it is pretty subtle. I really adore this color and wish it wasn't LE. It came out with the Barbie Loves MAC collection - you may still be able to find it at a counter though. I have also heard that MAC is bringing this collection back in the summer, so if they do I will be stocking up!

Model, you have to remember that skin needs to be fully matte in order for it not to reflect any shadows of scars and bumps. So having blot powder with you at all times is a must.

Studio fix contains a high amount of this ingredient, i forgot the name, but its like aluminum, so it will reflect light big time, so I only use it to my advantage where I want to highlight, like top of cheekbones, bridge of nose, and a bit on the center of the forehead. But after a few hours, Studio Fix doesn't reflect as much as it would when first applied.

Now you have to make sure to know that Studio fix is not good to touch up through the night while going out, a lot of people make this mistake thinking "oh its powder, its gonna mattify my face" but this is just the same as foundation, just powdery. It'll turn shiny in minutes. So blot powder is something you always want to use after using studio fix to seal it through the day.

Peacelover, you should also try sketch, shadowy lady and seedy pearl. One of my fave picks for plumish/purple eyeshadows.

Hey, I have a question. So, prom is coming up for me, and I was curious as to have any of you guys gotten your makeup done at the MAC counter? And if so, did they do a good job? Also, I'm indian and was wondering if they work good with that sort of complexion?

well prom, aside from other events, MAC is always super packed, so before you think about it, they're gonna be packed and will not have no room to spot you a seat!.

MAC has one of the widest ranges of colour foundation in the makeup business, so if your concern is skintone match, then you shouldn't have a problem. If your concern is makeup skills, then that's something you dont really know if you've never gotten your makeup done by someone there already. There's good people, and there's people that suck!.

Your best bet is to ask them for their face chart portfolio and look up their work, and choose someone's work you like best and then ask for this person, cause its a tad rude to ask "So who do you know its best at this"... mind you, this person proabably is completely booked for prom time also... so good luck

 Yeah, last year I was going through my no-powder-dewy-stage so that must be why it looked so bad in pics :P

Dovefeather is my favorite MAC neutral, it's a lovely taupe ...

I am in love with those new limited edition shades, particularly the Fab & Flashy since I need a substitute for Lancome Slide and this is a little less yellow-y, but still close.

I hadn't really bought any until a couple weeks ago, but now I'm hooked. Two coats and it lasts, and the colour selection is great. Not to mention it's better than Lancome when it comes to price. I love the Stars 'N Rockets because it's the kind of purple I have been looking for-makes a statement but isn't overdoing anything.

I've been wearing MAC Studio Stick foundation with the MAC Studio Fix powder OVER that plus sunbasque blush etc etc etc every day for ages. One of my friends insists that MAC foundation is really harsh on your skin--like, looks good on but messes up the tone/quality of your skin.

Is there any truth in that??

Is it a tad minty for men to be using foundation? In particular, MAC make up? We just want to look good..... :)

I'm going to be trading in a bunch of old eyeshadows for a lip color and was wondering what everybody's favourite shade of pink was! I took one look at all the color samples and was absolutely overhwhelmed. I'm not a regular lipstick girl, but perhaps with the right one I can be! Thanks =)
