The MAC Makeup Thread

news from wwd
this would be neat if it was true!

There is speculation that MAC Cosmetics and Alexander McQueen have teamed up to create a limited edition makeup collection — using the hues models wore on the runway at his Paris show Friday night. The collection reportedly is due to hit counters in fall 2007. MAC executives could not be reached for comment.

my absolute favorite red polish is Essie "Jelly Apple". it's not too pink and not too blue - very neutral. it's a very vibrant red, and lasts longer on me than anything else. i like to use MAC's topcoat - it keeps the color bright and shiny. ^_^

Thanks, ragtag, I will have to check that out :flower: I bought MAC Shirelle this weekend, will see how it works out ... and I too love MAC topcoat--good stuff.

^ you're quite welcome! Shirelle looks like a great color as well. i love MAC polishes - Dark Angel is one of my favorites.

Am keeping my fingers crossed that this is true!!

^i love MAC nailpolish. i've found that it lasts very nicely on my nails. my favorite MAC nail polish is Dark Angel (it's a non-shimmery dark purple). i've heard good things about the new purple polish in the 'Balloonacy' collection - "Vin Goth". i use MAC's topcoat too, over everything, MAC or not. ^_^

i saw the "vin goth" shade nailpolish at my local macys last night. it look nice. i think it was the best thing in the "balloonacy" limited edition collection.

i think the "strange hybrid" collection will be better.

I'm thinking of buying the shade Kid Orange, I just like the neon coral type colour.

has anyone tried the Pandemonium quad from Balloonacy? i'm interested in it but i haven't seen it in person and i'm wondering if it would be worth ordering....

how does the full coverage compact foundation work? I would only use it for special occasions, but I want some opinions before I decide to drop the $$ on it.

hah! only use that if you're a drag queen or if you're in theater, this is great also for photoshoots but the oil based formula will make you break out overnight.

I have it and use it only for photoshoots because its so so heavy but the coverage, of course its heavenly. But horrible in person.

So, use it for theater, shoots, when you wont be touching someone's face or looking at it upclose.

^well, see, last Christmas I made my horrible acne face look flawless with my colorstay foundation and concealer. But when the flash went off when people took pics at the party every single scar and blemish showed up in the pics. I was shocked when I saw the pictures afterwards. I was like "hey! I have on an inch of makeup, why the hell can you see everything?"

Okay, as soon as I get some $$ I want to buy some mac. Someone recommend me a foundation. I am NC 15 and I need a matte, medium to full coverage foundation. I am still considering buying the full coverage foundation for when I go to a party, etc, because my skin always decides to turn into a mine field of cysts a few days before (what can I say? I have bad karma) and they show up through my makeup in the pics if someone takes some. Anyhoo, any recs for a good one for everyday use? I don't care if it is powder, liquid or compact. Just a good one for everyday use :)

Studio Fix Fluid provides good coverage and is more on the matte side, but some people tend to break out to it. I was a fan of the Studio Fix powder for some time, when applied it looks gorgeous, but after say 7 hours it will turn with the oil so that everyone sees you're wearing makeup...

I'm an NC15 too, and I use the Select Cover-Up concealer, with the Studio Fix powder on top. That usually works pretty good for me.

Can anyone recommend some good eyeshadow colors for me? I have very fair skin, green eyes, and brown hair.

I'd like to try some purples or blues, as well as some neutrals.

^ peacelover, i just bought the new Pandamonium quad from the Balloonacy collection and i think it would look great with your coloring. the four shadows are: a lavender w/ gold sheen, a beautiful iridescent white gold, a shimmery dark grey, and a bright matte purple-blue. it really is a beautiful quad, and purples are especially amazing with green eyes. my eyes are blue, and this quad even makes them pop!
