The MAC Makeup Thread

What do you recommend as basic "must-have" eyeshadow colours from MAC? I have:shroom, vex, jest, shale, bronze, paradisco and woodwinked...but I want to build up my e/s choices. (I have olive skin, dark brown eyes and light hair). THANKS!!

I think Goldmine, Amber Lights, Gesso, Coppering & Carbon are must haves!

Thanks iLoveCouture!!! I'll put those on my wishlist. I've heard alot about amber lights, goldmine and carbon, so those will be the first I choose next.:flower:

I think it depends on your needs and the coverage you want. I can't wear ANY MAC foundation because they all break me out, sadly. The coverage is great, however.

^ Well I'd like something natural, I just need a little coverage
I read in Elle that makeup artists often use Mac Face & Body Foundation for runway shows

So apparently MAC is doing another collaboration with Heatherette for early next year. The packaging is supposedly metallic hot pink.

I'm not a big fan of Heatherette's designs, but I'm sure the makeup will be gorgeous. :woot:

Oooooh I can tell I'm going to have so many MAC lemmings next year!:heart:

Then I'd suggest select tint, there are many good reviews about in on makeupalley too.
MAC got famous being the brand of the pros

I currently use the Select Moisturecover concealer, which is great but I need something with slightly heavier coverage - still very natural looking though. Any suggestions on which MAC concealer would be best? :flower:

^ me too. i  it... blends easily, looks like skin (not like makeup sitting on skin) but stays on nicely. i also love that it's SPF 35... i'm a sunscreen addict so it makes me feel just a little more protected.

Gleam is my go to colour when I don't know what to wear.
I always get compliments on it too.

what's a good highlighter to use on browbones and tear ducts?

I use the pigment Gold Dusk for brow bone....( can't remeber if it's SE or not )
but I am always a little wary of putting pigments very close to my eye- ie- tear duct. Some of the pigments warn against it.

Most, if not all, of the recent pigments are eye-safe.

Gold Dusk was a great color, much too warm for me so I got rid of it quickly after I got it, but it was Limited Edition, with the Sundressing collection sadly.

brokenenglish - you are so lucky that gleam looks good on you! The lustre's look horrible on me; i put them on and all I get is glitter all over my face! I had gleam and mythology but I got rid of them in a MUA swap b/c of that!

Thanks brokenenglish! I'm so excited that I have 6 empty MAC containers to take back and get an eyeshadow!!! yippee!!

i have 2 green eyeshadows from mac that i love: swimming and springtime skipper.
