The MAC Makeup Thread

It's a bit overwhelming-I hope there's nothing else in July, but then this fall there is Manish Arora AND Estaban Cortazar/Ungaro to look forward to. I have a feeling that some of the Cool Heat items will eventually end up in a CCO...it's not going to draw as many people because it's just lipstick and eyeshadow in regular packaging, whereas Neo Sci-Fi will be the big draw. I might get the Colour Form powder however I have something similar from Smashbox that I rarely ever use, and I like the shades a LOT better.

I am especially curious about the two tone lipsticks in the Colour Forum Collection!!! The idea of them sound amazing and I want all the colours, so I think I am going to hold off on the lipsticks in the other collections which will save me a bit of money.

I don't own any pigments and would like to try some out and I think Jardins Aires will be my first purchase.

^If you have never used pigments, Jardin Aires is the best starter one IMO. It's the peachy gold that can be used pretty much anywhere on the face, like Vanilla, but Vanilla would be a more wintery one whereas Jardin Aires could very well be the one makeup need during the summer, well that and a good lipgloss.

Do you know a lipstick that's similar to NARS Funny Face? It's this:

i have Girl About Town, which i think may be MAC's answer to that shade. i really love it. it's an amplified creme - not too matte but super pigmented, and a perfect shade between bright pink and fuschia.

Yeah, I would say either of those is pretty close. I have Girl About Town and I love wearing it with this Rimmel gloss I have. Makes them even glossier.

I tried Morange the other day. Oh man, new want. I thought it wouldn't suit super pale me, but it does  My friend bought Syrup, 'coz she wanted a neutral. Actually, it was rather nice too. Hmmm ... :ninja:

MAC Skinsheen

On counters beginning this May, MAC Skinsheen is an undetectable light spray gel to create a flawless finish on legs, arms, shoulders and decolletage.

Skinsheen is available in three colors:
  • Medium Dark Sheer soft bronze with golden tan pearl
  • Dark Golden bronze
  • Deep Dark Deep warm bronze with rich golden pearl
Available beginning May 2008 at all MAC locations and online at maccosmetics.com.

Does anyone know why there are only three colours? And what is it, really?

Skinsheen is a sort of body bronzer, they have the Skinsheen things themselves and then a specialty buffer brush to go along with it. It launches on Thursday I believe along with Naughty Nauticals and the Dazzleglasses at the counters.

Thanks! Still think it's weird with only three colours though

Oh just letting you all know that Naughty Nauticals and Skinsheen are up on the website:)

I think the reason why they are only doing the three colours (I believe an additional one in Asia) is because it's so sheer and it's not like foundation, where you have to have a ton of shades, because with a bronzer you can usually get away with three. I won't be getting any only because I have a body bronzer that I like (that I don't need a brush for) but mine smells HORRID. Some like it, but it's so coconutty...

I think that Thursday when I go to MAC, I'll end up getting Port Red and Mutiny first unless Port Red looks really warm for me...I have heard that it is very warm. If it is, I'll maybe get a Lustreglass.

So I got my first two NN pieces today. I picked up Mutiny because it is gorgeous, and I will let you all know how it blends with the pigments I have. It's a true teal-y sky blue. Haven't had the time to swatch it yet, but I will soon. Then I got Port Red. AMAZING! It is a red, but a very warm red so it is very wearable. As soon as I put it on, the MA and the client who she was helping were like "Oooh! Ahh." I will definitely be getting backups of this because it's the perfect red lipstick for me, and gosh knows every girl needs her perfect red lip! To think I almost passed on this...

However Party Mate is a really nice one. It is a lustre, and quite shimmery, but not over-the-top. It's very much a "my lips but better" lipstick. Also Hey Sailor! Lustreglass is nice to go along with it, it's the only really shimmery one of it. I have to decide between that and Pleasure Principle from the Dazzleglasses...

From NN I bought Mutiny, Submarine and Meet the Fleet e/s, Ensign lg. I adore the color schemes (am I the only one obsessed with blue?) but am not brave enough to try the bright Port Red lippie. I have yet to see how they blend, but the colors alone make me so excited!

If you are paler or more rosy in skintone, Port Red isn't exactly for you. One of my bosses tried it on today and she didn't like how it looked on her...there is no such thing as one red lip that is right for everyone.

I'm excited though; I got a $30 giftcard to Nordie's from a friend of mine, and I could get more since my birthday is tomorrow...so I hopefully will NOT go into debt between all the collections coming up.
