The MAC Makeup Thread

^I want to start investing in some pigments, I would love to know which ones you guys recommend ^_^

Also, what brush is best used with the Mineralize SkinFinish Naturals? :flower:

How come the "summer"collection is not out by Mac? they usually have a bronzing sorta summery collection, or this year there isnt?

^Neo-Sci Fi/Solar Field/Future Earth has bronzing stuff. It launches on May 29.

A lot of people will say Vanilla (I personally don't like it). My first pigments were Golden Olive and Violet, and I still love them.

Yep Naughty Nauticals is a trend-based collection, with all the blues, and then the three parter is as follows: Neo Sci-Fi is the main colour collection, with lipglass, nail polish, eyeshadow, sheertone shimmer blush, and so forth. Solar Field has the Solar Bits as well as bronzers. Future Earth is the skincare portion. Cool Heat is eyeshadow, slimshine, and perfume.

Vanilla is definitely the most popular pigment I would say, and I've been meaning to get it for ages (lucky me to have a freestanding two bus rides away) but I dunno...I'm loving Jardin Aires more because it's the bronze-y, so I can press bronzer.

As far as good ones to invest in...
Vanilla (even though I have ones I like better, it is a must-have)
Violet (very subtle, very nice in the crease)
Jardin Aires (it is LE but it is constantly repromoted...)
Golden Lemon (a nice, bright sunny colour)
Melon
Rose
Copper Sparkle
and any LE ones that you find appealing, or any good ones at your local CCO:p

You will have to go to your freestanding though and check it out because you and I more than likely have different colour tastes, so you can see what works for you.

i would definitely have to say vanilla as well. it's my favorite! =D and everyone that i put it on really loves it as well. my first pigment was golden olive, which i really love too. it's the nicest green i have. but, i kind of wish it was a little more khaki and less bright. but, as a separate color because golden olive is nice on its own.

I want to start buying pigments too, as they can be used for lots of things besides for the eyes.
I think vanilla is a good place to start as that seems extremely versatile!
I hardly check out pigments at my counter but according to wesbite Teal and Copper sparkle look so pretty! Im going to look into them next time im at the counter though, so I can see the colours properly :D

Pigments are actually only sold at counters if they are a part of a LE collection-they are found at Freestanding stores though, which is how I got into them.

can anyone recommend a nice cherry red mac lipstick? not a lip gelee or a lipglass, please. :(

Chili? Or is that closer to orangey? It's hard to tell from the swatches on the site. Or maybe Ruby Woo or New York Apple?

Hmmmm. I wonder if Sandy B might be too light on my super pigmented lips? I should go testing on the weekend, I want a lighter, every day colour (and er, some other bright ones as well) :ninja:

^ i think i am going to go to mac tomorrow and try on ruby woo or new york apple! thank you. :D

ooh really, thats why theres not many there!
I guess i'll be ordering online!

^ Ruby Woo is an amazing matte, if that's what you're looking for... a perfect red, i think. and it has a beautiful powdery finish.
