There are a few main reasons why people aren't feeling the holiday stuff, and I'll go through piece by piece.
Colour Collection: This collection has so few new items to it, and most of the ones that are could have fit interchangibly into a different collection or two earlier this year. Red She Said, Enough Said, and Miss Dynamite are the three standouts. The Beauty Powder blushes are nice, from what I hear, and a new Dazzleglass is always great. Plus I love a good AC!
Palettes: While there are lots of new colours in the palettes, it's just a case of there's nothing terribly interesting in there. There are less choices for the palettes, the packaging is tacky, and to be honest, most of us are sitting pretty with our Manish (harsh, but true...Manish can kick the butt of the others blindfolded). I am interested in the Cool one, but only if it's at the CCO.
Lip bags: Honestly, nothing terribly interesting, the bags themselves are useless afterwards and boring (at least those cheap-looking bags from last year could have good usage...coin purse, for starters), and I heard the lipsticks themselves are not great. That isn't stopping me from asking for the red lips bag though.
Little Darlings: This is the one I am excited about-for the lipglasses. The Coral and Pink ones especially are good, with repromos of some LE's from way, WAY back (Ola Mango, Song and Dance, Magnetique). However the Softsparkles are bleh, and the pigment sets are only worth a look for one or two pigments each.
I think another reason why we aren't enthused, besides uninspiring product choices, is the fact that we are in LE fatigue. With so many collections coming out and with the economy the way that it is, we have to really pick and choose. Many of the newer products aren't the greatest quality-shadows that are impossible to work with, blushes that go too orange, or lipsticks and lipglasses that are dupeable by at least three permanent shade-and we can find out the lemons in the bunch. There are TWO collections launching Boxing Day-Chill and Dame Edna. While they won't appeal to absolutely everyone, I'm sick of glamour. I want my brights and while Manish was good, it wasn't wide enough of a release.
And we also just heard that there will indeed be Hello Kitty...so that drains it.
I think the economy may have something to do with it, because we're having to spend more to get the Christmas presents and well, to get everything, so that means less to spend on MAC.
