The MAC Makeup Thread

does anyone know where i can find old halloween faces from MAC? there was a killer cat one a few years ago, but i can't find it anywhere online...

(and i'm going to be a cat tomorrow night).

I definitely agree, Petticoat is amazing. Next week I am planning on going to the Red She Said event with a couple friends, so I am holding off on buying until then. It is hard...

THANK YOU!

i only picked up liquid liner in boot black and lipglass in prrr (both of which i needed anyway), but i want to get a pigment tomorrow, i think.

I bought Petticoat, and I think its wrong, I can't work out how to wear it. High on cheekbones, or like a normal blusher?

You know...the holiday collection launch isn't getting as much love as I thought it would be getting from various MAC lovers. I don't know if it is the products or the economy that is driving it.

There are a few main reasons why people aren't feeling the holiday stuff, and I'll go through piece by piece.

Colour Collection: This collection has so few new items to it, and most of the ones that are could have fit interchangibly into a different collection or two earlier this year. Red She Said, Enough Said, and Miss Dynamite are the three standouts. The Beauty Powder blushes are nice, from what I hear, and a new Dazzleglass is always great. Plus I love a good AC!

Palettes: While there are lots of new colours in the palettes, it's just a case of there's nothing terribly interesting in there. There are less choices for the palettes, the packaging is tacky, and to be honest, most of us are sitting pretty with our Manish (harsh, but true...Manish can kick the butt of the others blindfolded). I am interested in the Cool one, but only if it's at the CCO.

Lip bags: Honestly, nothing terribly interesting, the bags themselves are useless afterwards and boring (at least those cheap-looking bags from last year could have good usage...coin purse, for starters), and I heard the lipsticks themselves are not great. That isn't stopping me from asking for the red lips bag though.

Little Darlings: This is the one I am excited about-for the lipglasses. The Coral and Pink ones especially are good, with repromos of some LE's from way, WAY back (Ola Mango, Song and Dance, Magnetique). However the Softsparkles are bleh, and the pigment sets are only worth a look for one or two pigments each.

I think another reason why we aren't enthused, besides uninspiring product choices, is the fact that we are in LE fatigue. With so many collections coming out and with the economy the way that it is, we have to really pick and choose. Many of the newer products aren't the greatest quality-shadows that are impossible to work with, blushes that go too orange, or lipsticks and lipglasses that are dupeable by at least three permanent shade-and we can find out the lemons in the bunch. There are TWO collections launching Boxing Day-Chill and Dame Edna. While they won't appeal to absolutely everyone, I'm sick of glamour. I want my brights and while Manish was good, it wasn't wide enough of a release.

And we also just heard that there will indeed be Hello Kitty...so that drains it.

I think the economy may have something to do with it, because we're having to spend more to get the Christmas presents and well, to get everything, so that means less to spend on MAC.

I bought the six eye shadows from the ''Red she said'' collection from ebay, the ungaro lipgloss (pastel emotions), enough said powder, soft pause+ quiet please lipstick and sugarrimmed dazzleglass.
Oh and from older collection(s) the light flush and so ceylon bronzer.

Promised myself that I'd go to Amsterdam to get some new make up, but since it's been a while and I still haven't been there, I just ordered online. Now hopefully, I'll receive everything soon and authentic. Can't wait to try some of those looks out

I've been wearing it today as a normal blusher. I'm super pale and it's just the right shade for me.

Light Flush is a gorgeous MSF, it sadly is the one that sits alone in my traincase, but when I don't want to do shimmer all over it is a great highlight. It's like a lighter version of Petticoat, without the raspberry veining.

I held off on Petticoat for another day-however I may just get it at the event next week. So Ceylon is NOT one I need a backup of. It is pretty...however I compared it to Urban Decay's baked bronzers and I find I like THEM more...they're more gold. Plus $1 cheaper, and sometimes ULTA has a 20% coupon I can use on prestige cosmetics...

Can someone please tell me what color lipstick this is from the cremesheen collection? Is it fanfare?

^It's supposedly Ravishing, but apparently it's a lot more orange than it looks in the picture. I would maybe try mixing it with Creme d'Nude to try to emulate the color in the picture.

so are the creme sheens going to be a permanent addition? i also liked the lipstick in the picture, but there's no way i'm buying an orange lipstick!

Cremesheens are permanent, and the rumour is that the Amplifieds are going to be phased out, or scaled back on. Ironically, many of the new LE lipsticks are Amplifieds.

Trista, I have to spread more karma around before giving you more but thanks for your detailed report.

I am picking up the Smokey palette but I also liked the Cool but I too am waiting for it to show in CCO (which I know it will!)

I can't wait to see where they go with Hello Kitty. I hope it is more like the Barbie collection and less like Fafi.

Aw thanks...I am definitely holding out for the CCO on the Cool eyes. The lip palettes do look decent, but I am trying to avoid them because they always do end up at the CCO. I only bought Colour Forms Warm Lips when I did because of two awesome repromotes.

As far as Hello Kitty, I am definitely expecting it to be similar to Barbie when it comes to the colours, I am expecting a lot of pinks for the cheeks and lips, and then the eyes will probably be nice too. Fafi is probably going down as one of the bigger duds in MAC history IMO, and Barbie only looked as good as it did because it was a collaboration with Barbie, and there were the dolls. I hope that they do some sort of Hello Kitty doll with this, because if they do...I will be broke.

i just switched over most of my makeup to make (its cheaper than what i usually use)..i'm quite impressed. i bought half the ungaro line, i love love the Crushed Bougainvillea stain. which bronzer do you guys recommend by mac? i kind of wanted to try the creamy one rather than the powder..

I mean honestly, MAC doesn't really do as much as far as the bronzers and cream things anymore. Bronze CCB just got discontinued, and while they do carry bronzers they are of the powder variety. And the Blushcremes do seem to be on their way out.

My favourite bronzer is Northern Light MSF, but it is discontinued. If you head to your counter, they MAY still have So Ceylon MSF, and it's a good bronzer for all skin-tones. Gold Deposit may also be a good choice.
