The MAC Makeup Thread

Thanks Trista, our very own walking MAC bible  I definately want to go sheer...I'm not too handy/willing to spend time on getting ready, and they do sound very nice quality-wise... But we'll see how it goes with the finances, I'm not exactly wealthy atm

The other thing about the MES is that they will last longer because they are baked, and you can use them wet or dry. Not all the MES are great, in fact the Red She Said ones were an EPIC FAIL, but the A Muse ones (Heat/Element, Bright Side/Gallery Gal, etc) were better, and many of the Electroflash ones were really good-it just depends on the brush and the base that you use.

Oh, a couple rumours about the fall that I heard: there will be an all-black collection, and there are going to be some matte nail polishes (not cream, matte). There's going to be more limited edition Dazzleglasses (Local Colour) as well as Beauty Powder Blushes. We haven't heard when Icon is coming out though...I would say it's going to be a July or August release.

I can kind of understand black lip gloss but black beauty powder?

I came home today and was very confused about the two mac boxes left at my door since I only had one order. Turns out I won a t shirt from the hello kitty sweepstakes :woot: I've never won anything so even a t shirt is exciting and I'd rather have that than the kouture items since I returned the beauty powder and dont wear lip gloss. It's cute and I want to keep it but Ive been shopping too much and really need $$. Should I keep or sell?

^ good for you :flower:

and i did end up getting the perfect topping. it just give me a right glow for this summer.

Lucky...I never win anything. The counter I went to never even got the HK totes (the GWP ones)...I still have my helium balloon though. As for the t-shirt, I would definitely hold onto it.

I don't think there is going to be black beauty powder, trust me. There will be eye and lip things though.

GG, I'm thinking keep it, it can be your lucky T-shirt :woot:

Trista, thanks for the idea on replacing Sex Ray. Tbh, I will not be doing two steps instead of one, but I will take a look at the gloss you suggest. When does Rose Romance come out?

Ida, I wear eyeshadow all the time, & got 2 of the Mineralize combos that came out around the holidays. (I've already used one up (the light half anyway), could it have been just last December?) Anyway, I don't like them ... I find them very slippery and messy and difficult to use. Now maybe I should be using a different brush, but I really just use one eyeshadow brush & IMO it should just work :innocent: The MAC people say I should put my eyeshadow on first and then clean up, but 1) I've put makeup on in this order my whole life & I am not changing now and 2) If I don't use ME there is IMO no need to clean up, so ...

What product is the main color in the trend you posted, do you know?

That is the family silver duo in the picture. I have the purple trio, they're all so pretty in the pan but arent very pigmented so I preffer the regular eyeshadows.

I used to use the mac 239 brush which is what I assume you use and I was happy with it until I tried the shu uemura kolinsky brushes. I have 12S and 5r and thats replaced 4 mac brushes. They are very versatile and blend so much better. They're pricey but they'll last basically forever. I throw my mine in my makeup bag and other brushes usually loose their shape after a while but I've had these for a few years and they're as good as new. I really highly recommend them.

Rose Romance comes out either on the 23rd or 30th of April. One of those dates is Rose Romance, the other is the Dazzleglass relaunch.

Sex Ray is a gloss that has been kicking around my CCO for a long, long time-Magnetique is a bit pinker (emphasis on bit) and it is only slightly frosty. It was in the Little Darlings this last Christmas, and it also kicks around the CCO. Of the two, Magnetique is way better, and if you want glitter I would add some of the Reflects.

Wow, I have that one & it looks nothing like that on me  I find the silver too blue so I rarely use it. I'm red-blue in Prescriptives speak, so maybe my skin is pulling the blue.

I don't honestly know which brush I have--it's a medium angled brush & I believe it is MAC. Do they say on them what they are?

Does Shu Uemera have a good powder brush? I have a MAC one & need to replace it here at some point (but my recession style is to keep using what I have even if it's really worn out ;))

Trista, I believe CCO is the outlet, right? How do I find out if there's one around here, do you know?

the brushes do have the number on them but they rub off after a while. 239 is the basic eyeshadow brush everyone uses but I think you have something else since it's not angles. I dont have a powder brush from shu uemura since like a week before I found these I got a MAC buffer brush and I wasnt going to buy another one, but all of the brushes I've tried are better than their mac equivalent. The kolinsky are just amazing but they are only a few, the rest are better than MAC imo but not as huge a difference.

OK, my brush is the 275.

Thanks for the info, Lucy. The closest one is almost 3 hours away ... will they send you stuff if they don't know you from Eve? Much as I love Sex Ray, I don't know that I'm willing to drive to Austin for it

I have an angle brush by MAC that I use with the Fluidlines and it is #269. Hth!

Woops, just realized you already answered your own question!!

The outlets don't ship, and many of the outlets will not tell you what products they have in stock.

The 269 brush is actually discontinued-I do like the 275, and I want to eventually track down a 279 as it is a larger angle brush. I find the 275 is great for application of trickier shadows, of course nothing beats my 231.

Over the last couple of years they've really gotten rid of a lot of brushes or made them PRO-only. The only new brush they've come out with recently that will be permanent is the 214-the 226 and the 165 (IIRC) are limited-edition and sold like hotcakes.

I'm no longer a MSF virgin, hehe. I bought Perfect Topping because I was really impressed with the texture. I didn't know what to expect when I swatched at a counter, but I was surprised to find that it was quite a soft highlight...more nacreous than outright shimmery.

Specktra just posted a blurb on the forums about the Nordies anniversary collection..."Graphic Garden" or something like that. :}
