The MAC Makeup Thread

See as much as I love pinks, I can get Magnetique at the outlet (and save money). The only thing I am hoping for are the lighter of the two Beauty Powders and then the Nordie's quad.

I'm interested in their paint pots. To get more for my money, I hoping to get one that would work with most/all eyeshadow shades, and I also want to be able to use it as a stand alone eye color for a more natural look. I've heard alot about the Rubenesque color. Thinking about getting that one, possibly for my purposes.. And I don't really have much 'shimmery' make up so this could be fun to use. I don't know, has anyone had experience with them?

I have a paint pot in deflt. The upside is that it really stays put very well but it's hard to blend. You have to layer the color and allow a little time to dry in between or youll end up just sliding it around everywhere. Once you layer it though, the color is rich, pretty and a great base to add shadows to. It's also great for body art since it's easy to draw with and stays put well.

They actually just came out with Chromalines at the PRO level which are like a Fluidline/Paint Pot mix that are meant to be used for body painting-I've heard that they are absolutely amazing. They aren't meant to be used around the eyes, but a lot of people do use them with a base.

Trista, since I know you go to the outlet (we dont have one here), please let me know if you ever happen see dark edge. It's my perfect brown that I wear everyday but I just had to get another tempting quad on ebay since I cant find it anywhere

Okay, my friend reports that there will NOT be an all-black collection, however, many of the fall collections will have black accents.

Rose Romance is now online! I am probably going tomorrow to test it, and my wishlist could get significantly longer. Rose Romance lipstick is looking very appealing, and I still do want Blush of Youth-Summer Rose is probably too purple for my warmer skin.

This is what I think I want from Rose Romance

Way to Love & Rose Romance lipsticks
Virgin Kiss & Steal My Heart lipglasses
Loving Touch & Secret Crush see-thru lip colour
Just a Pinch gel blush
Blush of Youth beauty powder

and I seriously hope I want less when I see it in real life

Rose Romance is probably going to sell very well since it's a very wearable collection. I could feasibly get a lot, but I would rarely use the See Thru Lip Colours. I may want Steal My Heart because I do like bright pinks, although I hate that it's sheer. I will let you know though my results tomorrow when I go to see it. I may just end up with it.

^ I'm not really seeing the advantage of the See Through ... in my experience all glosses but the discontinued Lacquer are see-through, and to me it's not a good thing ;)

They actually do still have some lacquers at the freestanding closest to me...but yeah. Shine Manish is the most opague one that I have. The thing with the See-Thru Lip Colour is that it's meant to be more of a stain. Figure I'll leave to go down to Nordie's in a little bit and then I'll get my thoughts since I never have actually tried them on.

^ I don't know if they still have them here (lacquers), but at Nordstrom's last I saw they'd moved them off to the side--they've thrown them in a beaker. They're not restocking, but I guess they're selling through--to me that's discontinued but there may be another term for it. Too bad, I really like them.

^There have been many instances in which there have been super-exclusive items. There was Pink Daslu lipstick, which was a Brazil exclusive, the Elie Saab palette, which was in the Oscars gift bag a few years ago, the infamous Judy Blue eyeshadow, the Morrissey stuff (which may have been an Australia exclusive). I doubt they will be reproduced and eBaying them is going to be tough.

What was the morrissey stuff???:woot:

Absolutely no idea. I just heard it thrown around somewhere. MAC also did a collection or maybe just a quad with Marsha (an Asian pop star) back in 2004. It was all perm shades but it had Parfait Amour.

So I went to see Rose Romance, and I was disappointed. Most of the stuff is just nothing too great. The lipsticks are both meh. If you like lighter pinks, you'll like one of the two pinks-they are both lustres. One is warm, one is cool. The See Thru Lip Colour, swatched on my hand, are okay. Tender Tryst is the one that looks the nicest but the other two could sell well. The gel blush is okay. The container is the Paint Pot one. The lipglasses are the standout. Steal My Heart is like Tropic Glow in Lipglass form, while Virgin Kiss could pass for Silly Girl. Didn't really get to try the beauty powders, sadly. The perfume is actually quite good. Finally, the eyeshadows. Silverthorn is amazing. Imagine Idol Eyes, but without the glitter and a bit lighter-or Silver Fog in eyeshadow form. It is insanely pigmented and amazing. Et Tu, Bouquet is like a warmer version of Pink Freeze, right down to the texture. Of Summer did not show on my hand but I may give it a second try.

I did end up picking up Utterly Posh Dazzleglass. It is absolutely gorgeous-it's orange in the tube, but not overly bright-I would almost say a terracotta. As far as the other new ones go, Goldyrocks is like a greenish-gold...it is very interesting. Extra Amps is a bit lighter than Ms. Fizz and has a LOT of silver glitter. Stop Look is like a pinker version of Date Night. Girl's Delight is kinda meh. They didn't have Smile or Moth to Flame handy, unfortunately.

Oh, and this is huge: I just got verbal confirmation today that there WILL be a Dsquared2 collaboration with MAC this fall.

I wouldn't know, sadly...I don't use foundations.

I did get Play on Plums MES today in a swap. It's nothing revolutionary, and you HAVE to use a base with it...however you can do the mono in the crease and melange on the lid for a great subdued look. Also the MES are getting rotated out, so I believe starting on Thursday at counters you'll see Fresh Green Mix, Sea & Sky, Love Connection, Pink Split, Odd Couple, and Hot Contrast. The last four I am not entirely sure about, I have a feeling Play on Plums could be in there...but you'll at least see the two best of the bunch.

Has anyone tried MAC's Face and Body Foundation, if so, how was it?

I have!!! actually i used to use them alot the past three years, but then with the ongoing make up development industry i am hooked on Nars sticks...

the face and body foundation is great but i feel it blocks my pores and its quite heavy on the face and body...the Nars one is much lighter and blends really really well!!! from my experince i loved the MAC Face and Body Foundation back then but now i love the Nars sticks...

Hmm thanks! I bought it!
And I love it, it's very light and does not look like I'm wearing foundation which is the sort of theing I'm after.
