The MAC Makeup Thread

I LOVE Contrast. I am a fan of it on the waterline, as I said a little bit up the page. It also would be good for a darker eye for me, when I do them (which is almost never).

Anywhoo, for my F&F order I ended up getting Show Orchid, then pans of Crystal, Cranberry, and Coppering. My mum got two empty quads, and then pans of Plumage, Coppering, Tete-a-Tint, and Embark. The thing that's annoying is it's going to take up to 7 days just to process orders-and then just as many, if not more, to ship.

Show Orchid has sold out though, as has Fierce & Fabulous. I'm surprised that more hasn't, although Star Violet in pan form was up for a few hours yesterday and then back down.

Okay I was so right about the Dsquared2 collection-and there is indeed going to be a black collection, called Style Black. It's just lip and eye things, though. The one collection that is appealing to me is the Makeup Artist Cosmetics collection, which product-wise looks to have more than HK. 5 lipsticks, 4 lipglasses, 3 eye quads, 6 single shadows, 5 Technakohls, 4 pigments, 2 regular glitters, 2 Reflects glitters, 2 blushes...

Also the rumour I heard is that there are going to be Reflects glitters that will be permanent in MAC stores-two that already exist and two brand new ones. Also a lot of new bright eyeshadows and so forth. The M-A-C collection will bleed me dry if I have the funds...I am going to be doing a LOT of yardwork to pay for the stuff I need.

Have you any links to any pics or anything Trista? I'd love to see.

Btw, does anyone have problems with their penultimate liner? Mine is just so hard to use!

I posted an entry on my blog about what kind of look the Dsquared2 thing would be-and Temptalia just posted the info on many of the fall collections. Dsquared2 won't be big for me-it doesn't really appeal. Feline is getting repromoted, and I called it from the beginning that there would be sculpt/shape powders (yay me!). Thing is, I can get those at the CCO.

I'll summarize:
Style Black (24 September): The rumoured all-black collection. The more exciting thing: VAE is coming back, along with the volcanic mask that they had talked about bringing out with Neo Sci-Fi.
MAC HD (10 September): Basically just four lipsticks with Face & Body foundation, MSFN, and brushes.
Flirt With Fall (27 August): Lashes.
Fall Trend (17 September): An eye quad, lip products, and perfume.
Dazzleglass Creme (24 September): I'm guessing Cremesheens with the pearl of Dazzleglass.
Dsquared2 (12 October): Dark eyes, with Grease Paintsticks and Feline, a pale lip (using Lip Erase), and the repromote of the 165.
Makeup Art Cosmetics (20 August): Absolutely insane. There is only one repromote in a quad, and that's Lightfall, which I believe was in a Cult of Cherry quad. Four of the single shadows are repromotes, although Purple Shower was a long time ago and Crest the Wave was in the Stowaways quad.

As far as Penultimate Liner goes, I haven't used it. I'm still very monetarily limited, but I don't really trust most liquid liners.

I'm excited for the lash collection, I love lashes but shu uemura makes the best. Dsquared also sounds good.

Style Black collection sounds very interesting. I'll definitely look forward to it and I already want to buy Baby Goth Girl nail lacquer and Blackware glimmerglass.
VAE and thermal mask sound great, too. Has anyone tried the VAE before?

Oh wow, thanks so much for all that info, you're a veritable font of wonderful knowledge Trista! I thought I was obsessed until I saw your posts. I tell you, Mac would be very lucky if you worked for them.

I shall check out your blog and temptalia, and I am VERY excited about the Dsquared and Makeup Art collection. They sound incredible!

i received all of my goodies from F&F today. yay! can't wait to experiment with all of these new brushes!

of the new stuff, i'm definitely interested in the style black collection. some of the stuff sounds so kooky, i'm just curious to see how it translates. i know i NEED the photo realism quad from the makeup art cosmetics collection, along with the repromote of haunting. i don't know what collection this was from originally, but i know i missed it and in the end regreted not buying it. the cocomotion pigment sounds interesting as well.

i'm also excited about the collaboration with jin soon choi. MAC is in desperate need of more nail polishes, so i'm glad they're doing this. i know a lot of people dismiss their polishes, but they stay creamy and never get goopy/clumpy which makes them a dream to apply.

I was told by a friend of mine to avoid all polishes-and I am regretting NOT getting Peppermint Patti. On the bright side, MAC's polishes are smaller than OPI's, so I can find a decent dupe somewhere. I like brighter colours anyway. Hopefully these will be better, though.

Haunting eyeshadow was originally in the McQueen collection. Haunting fluidline is what I want more (it was in one of my favourite collections-Lure). The thing with Haunting is that I can probably find it at the CCO (the shadow, not the Fluidline).

I like how there are so few repromotes in general. Euristocrats 2 makes a lot of sense, since it was a Europe exclusive. Colour Craft just has a couple repromos-Most Popular and Porcelain Pink. I don't typically count brushes in repromotes, though. I know my mum and I are going to be getting a 226 each...I have a Lancome GWP brush that is very similar and I want to get a MAC replacement. The M-A-C (as I will refer to it from now on) collection has more, but they aren't really making new glitters for collections anymore. I think the last time they did was Jewelescent-and part of that could be because they now have the Reflects glitters, which are way more user-friendly. The rest of the things though...I don't really do darks. I will either save my money, try out some other brands (NP, Paul & Joe, Chanel), or focus on getting some permanent items.

I have NO idea when my F&F stuff will arrive. I haven't even gotten an email about it-the only one I got was one telling me that Show Orchid was backordered. If I end up not getting it, I will be one unhappy makeup fanatic. The good news is that I am getting Yellow Scream CCB soon!

ah, mcqueen. no wonder i passed. i bought almost everything else in that collection.

my CCO has a lot of the mcqueen lipglasses, but i haven't seen much else from it.

I've seen the shadows, but that's it. I haven't been in a month and a half, but I want to go to see if they got any MSF's. I should have been way more into MAC back then, but I was buying Lancome and other brands.

The Look In A Box collection looks fantastic!!

If anything, I would get the Sweet Tease box. I mainly want the Beauty Powder, however the rest of the items are fairly good neutrals for me to have. I can live without the 181SE though-I have the 181 and it is so different, let me tell you. The other two boxes, I don't feel the need for. I already have Belightful, and I don't need another bronzer that isn't in special packaging. They're good for people who are just getting into MAC, or want a really good value, but for those of us who have been there, done that, it's mostly boring.

Also Euristocrats 2 is now online. The item that I am mainly jonesing for is Via Veneto, and I have enough items to use as an empty for that. If I don't, I'm getting Cockney lipstick. I also want Milan Mode lipstick, maybe Costa Chic, and then the other LE Dazzleglasses.

HELP ME NOW!

I just bought blacktrack and you all promised it wouldn't transfer, but it does! I have oily lids and I prime them, and I powder and eyeshadow them, but I still get that transfer line when I do my eyeliner. Why? What can I do? What will stop that happening?

Here's a picture

You'll see, I get a dark line where my eyeliner sits against my socket. It's so annoying!

That's really weird, I never had any problems with Delphic doing that-then again, I don't really do thick lines. I know you've tried a lot of solutions, but I would try setting powder and then letting it dry, using something like Fix+, or maybe just using a hairdryer on a warm (not hot) setting on there for a few seconds to help set it. I never have those problems though when I use Fluidline, so that's weird to me.

I recommend Bobbi brown gel eyeliner, by far the best liner I've tried and doesn't smudge. Very creamy with a great texture. Liquid last liner will also not smudge but I find it hard to apply and if you make a mistake there's no getting it off.

I got my sale items and I love creme de meil, I've been looking for the perfect pale gold highlight and thus is it.

I love Liquidlast as well, but they seem to be on their way out. I have Pinkcraft and it's great for when I am totally lazy.

I am not getting my sale items til Wednesday...that's the package that doesn't include Show Orchid. I'm just glad that there's nothing that will melt in the package that is coming, because we're expecting warm weather. I know a lot of people have had issues with things melting.

I have bobbi brown, and I thought it was great but it did the same, which is why I bought fluidline. So so irritating, it ruins a graphic look if you've got it transferring into your socket line. Liquid last is too much for me, I end up having to scrape it off....and I go very red very easily and it doesn't go for days.

I shall try your tip Trista. Fingers crossed I can get a handle on my wandering liner. I want to conquer it!

maybe try a primer, liner, loose powder to set that first layer, let that completely dry and then hit it again with fluidline. you could even set that and top it off with a pencil liner for the inky finish versus another layer of gel liner.

not happy with my 188 brush. it's so dense and i've already had shedding after using it maybe three times? not impressed. i have the 186 which was LE and have had it for YEARS and have never experienced shedding. also, it's much softer. overall i'm not that impressed with the brushes. i'm glad i only got a few and will try shu for my other needs.
