The MAC Makeup Thread

My mum uses the foundation (at least), and I'm thinking of getting her the concealer-she LOVES the Studio Sculpt line, as it was "made for people like her".

Actually, Ida, I was at the CCO yesterday and they had a set of four full-size brushes for about $88-it was the 187, the 222, the 168, and the 263, conveniently packaged in a black zipper case.

Let me just say though-Kanga-Rouge is awesome. The outlet had most Dame Edna items (except Hot Frost and Gladiola) and this is gorgeous. I love my Amplifieds, what can I say.

ta-ta I'll PM you shortly, apparantly I'm going to Copenhagen next weekend and it's going to be super expensive

On another note...The Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW20 is A LOT darker than the Studio Finish Concealer in NW20...so I have a very nice and blendable concealer in the wrong colour and a not very blendable concealer in the right colour

Edit:
Trista
That's just not fair!

^ Whenever you're ready.

What is the point of those color codes if they don't match each other?? :innocent: When I briefly wore MAC foundation, my foundation and concealer in the same color didn't match.

^I know! I haven't got a clue about what I should do with the Studio Sculpt, and you can't return stuff in Denmark. We don't do customer service..apparently.

^ Maybe you can send to me & I can exchange for the brush  Assuming we have the same product here & the postage won't eat everything up

^I think it's too dark for you :ninja: Unless you're NW25  I can't get over how dark it is, I just can't.

^ No, no, not for me ... I mean to exchange at the store ... get you a little American customer service

There is no real match for my skin at the MAC counter ...

Have you tried giving it to your boyfriend? ;)

^I lost the packaging :ninja:

I actually have considered rubbing it off on him  It's the perfect colour for him, really.

^ I think it is definitely a MAC Viva Glam lipstick, however I searched on the website and can't find the exact colour.

I bought a great concealer today - Studio Finish SPF35 in NC15 - it really works, you barely need to use any of it to cover a blemish or a mark! I'm very impressed, considering the last MAC concealer I bought wasn't that great.

Does anyone know if there will be new brush sets out? About Christmas time, maybe?

Just wanted to mention I tried my new Prep+Prime powder, and like it ... it's definitely a lighter look ... I was surprised how much of my makeup was coming from the powder rather than the foundation. The blush 'grabs' differently, so it takes a little getting used to, but overall I like it ...

Yes, the brush sets are a holiday tradition. I hope the quality is better than those of years past, though. Temptalia posted the pics for the main collection, as well as a look at a few of the palettes. Still no word on the lip bags, the minis, or any of that.

Honestly, though, as much as I want to stock up on the VAE I only think I'll need one thing of it for now. Yes, it is a smaller package, but a 4 ounce tube of scrub can last me a really long time. Not to mention I won't be using it every day. I may ask for a sample of the mask, because I heard that it's good for spot-treatment, but I don't really need a mask or anything. I'm really wanting Red Full-Stop from the Fall Trend collection, though.

I bought quite a bit of the Make Up Art collection, and my fav of the lot has to be the reflects rust pigment. Was an incredible color, it's exactly the same as my hair!

I love Reflects Rust as well, mainly because Coppering is one of my favourite MAC shadows and it goes very well with it. I got both the glitters, actually, and I like Rust better than Copper, even though Copper is good.

I saw most of the Trend FW collection today, and it's honestly got some nice pieces. Hipster is a gorgeous semi-frosty red lipstick-think a step between Sci-Fi-Delity and Kiss Manish, and deeper. Our Pick is not my favourite, but it's a good base lipstick or a good lip if you like nudes. Faultlessly FW is one I have to give MAC my props for. With a colour this "out there", they could have gone the lustre or glaze route, but NO. They made it an Amplified. It is as dark as it seems-a blackened purple, and creamy. If I had the funds, I would buy this as a "just because" thing, but I know it will end up at the outlet. They didn't have Red Full-Stop, sadly. As for the lipglasses, Runway Fave actually bubbled on my hand, but if you like lighter glosses this is good. It's also the perfect gloss to pair with a smokey eye. New Berry is absolutely gorgeous, and I really, really want it. It's a deep wine-coloured, creamy gloss-so divine. So This Season is every bit as pigmented as Faultlessly FW, but a bit more purple and a bit less black. Not for the faint of heart.

Asphalt Flower is a roll-on, and on my wrist it has really good staying power. Despite the patchouli, I think it's a workable fragrance.

^ New Berry sounds good ... as you know, it can be tough to find a pigmented gloss at MAC. I like the natural color of my lips and all, but if I go to the trouble to put on lipgloss, that's not what I want to see

I'm glad that both New Berry and So This Season are quite pigmented-why buy an unpigmented gloss? If I want a lack of pigment, I'll buy a cheapo VS Beauty Rush gloss which I'll eat off within 15 minutes of application.

Here's swatches of the lippies, the lipsticks are inaccurate as my camera hit the frost but not the base colour! This gives you an idea of the glosses, though. Picture taken by me.
