The Mascara Thread

I used to wear Diorshow or Lancome Flextencils. My new favourite is Lancome Virtuose which has replaced Flextencils. I prefer to give length and curve to my lashes instead of volume which makes me feel them heavy.

that's how I am to. I don't like a lot of volume because it makes my lashes look fake. I really love Smashbox That's a wrap. It seems to be a good happy medium for me.

almost out of my Stila Major Lash (which by the way is amazing like ive said about 3 times lol).
any reccomendations for a good new one to try?

i just picked up Cover Girl's New Lash Blast. i normally use Cover Girl Volume Exact - it's a nice reliable mascara that i can afford to replace often. i'm really interested in how this Lash Blast performs, since its reviews at Makeupalley are absolutely glowing:

Reviews.

i'll let you all know how it works! i hope it's all it's said to be. i just have such a hard time paying $15+ for mascara that i know will change consistency and dry out in weeks.

^Are you on MUA? Because the boards there basically exploded into a case of mass hysteria over this today.

I recently grabbed some L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in the gold tube. Its actually really nice and better than my now dried out and nasty Diorshow. Dark, smooth no clumpiness. Really thickens and extends. I guess if I had the cash I would buy another tube of Diorshow but actually this is better. Plus it doesn't make my eyes itch like Maybelline.

DandyWarhol, my sister raves about the Stila mascara too. And her eyelashes do look incredible. But then again she has incredibly long curled lashes anyway.

haha, no i don't post there... i just consult the reviews every so often. but based on the reviews it definitely seems like people are going nuts over it.

lollicandy: oh yeah well i dont really know if it does a lot since i have really long lashes too but people say they look nice so... lol.

Well I just tried out the little Clinique High Definition mascara that I got in the latest giftset and WOW. It's amazing. I'm going to stick with my Avon mascara because I tend to use navy shades of mascara-but I'm definitely hooked. Does anyone else have opinions of the Clinique? I can see why it won an Allure beauty award.

Yeah people are pretty much coming over that stuff. I went to Target today and they were sold out. I figure I'll wait until the hysteria blows over to see what people really think, then spend the money.

^ haha, yeah... not a bad idea. i found some at CVS and i had a coupon so it worked out alright.

it's a nice mascara... i wasn't completely blown away, but i can see that for the money it's pretty great. it's very rare for me to use high-end mascara, so i can't compare it to any of those, but i've been using Volume Exact and i definitely like it better than that. it does give a pretty lush look if you use a lash comb and put on a few coats. one thing that's pretty unique about it is that it does hold a curl very well - something i've had an issue with in the past - and your lashes don't feel brittle or dry, they stay flexible and soft.

the wand is really large and thick, which makes it tough for me to get to my inner and bottom lashes without smudging my lids. other than that, it was easy to work with... and it does wash off quite easily.

I have YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils and Lancome Fatale. I like them both, but I want to try YSL Everlong.

I think my next mascara purchase is going to be CG Last Blast because of the hype over at MUA. I have to see if it lives up to the claims!

I have not seen lash blash yet, not even the ad, the hype was too overwhelming on MUA that I know I will own a tube anytime soon.

What do you think of Lancome's Hypnose?
Do you recommend that one?

Depends what you want from a mascara - I bought it a few weeks ago to try as I'll give anything a go, with good reviews. Personally I was very disappointed... I heard it gives the false eyelash effect, like Diorshow & YSL faux cils, but it doesn't on me. It gives my lashes curl & stays on quite well, but it doesn't lengthen, thicken or add intense colour, no matter how much i layer it! It just doesn't compare to Diorshow & YSL in that repsect... I've gone back to Faux Cils as it really is the best false eyelash look mascara I've tried... :flower:

Sorry forgot to say I also find the Lancome Hypnose brush awful - gets ALL over my eyelids & I've tried several techniques & taken care. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I love Clinique Naturally Glossy, it works perfectly doesnt clump and makes my eyelashes look awesome.

When I want more volume I use Covergirl LastExact, but its a little more clumpy unfortunately.

Has anyone tried Sephora brand's new Lash Plumper? If not, you should. It's $16 and well worth every penny. It's a volumizing mascara but it also lengthens as it separates every lash. The brush is fabulous and the formula never clump or harden. You can seriously re-apply throughout the day (if you need to) and you'll have absolutely no clumps! This product was released a couple of months ago, in black, but the Ultra Black was just released this week. Try it!
