What shoes are appropriate to wear with minis?

I think flats are the best..

if you wear high heels I think it's important to be covered up on top otherwise it can look a bit hooker-ish

I'd rather go for a below the knee pencil skirt. Even all these examples looked too "sl*tty." There's just something about it now that makes me not want to wear it. I think I'll stick to my dresses.

Me too. I have tried, I really have, but anything above the knee makes me feel like prostitute no matter how many pairs of woollen tights I have on

I saw that American Apparel mini skirt online & I just dont know about it. Im worried that it might be to short. Im only 5 ft though so maybe not. I did ask about it in the AA topic but didnt get a response. I was wondering because they give 2 measurements... 4 inch waist band & then 11 inches. Im wondering if its 11 inches total or if its 11 inches plus the 4 inch waist in which case it would be great because I could wear it higher waisted & it would still be an ok length. Otherwise it wouldnt work.

I love minis. I wear denim mini skirts all the time I think it's best with flats because they look a bit too much and bordering on skanky with heels. Miniskirts are a very fresh look and help cut away a lot of volume in the silhouete so its still relevant and clean which I like. Linked in with this idea, I think they're great as contrast - like in the first picture, the lacey skirt with the patent leather jacket, something hard with soft, etc. I guess that's how you have to wear miniskirts too to balance it out.

The only problem is that this look, although so easy to wear (I mean you can buy miniskirts anywhere for example) it's so easy to do it wrong and look vulgar and cheap, and it does nothing for the image of the miniskirt

I absolutely love the way Jil Sander presented this look; clean, classic and fresh.

And, I really love the high heels with them - I really don't think it looks cheap with minimal make up and hair pulled back into a bun.

I think its the button up shirts that make it look not sl*tty & more sophisticated so the high heels work. Plus they are satin & more dressy so it looks nice. Otherwise I love the mini with a flat.

I have a skirt similar to the tulip one with the pockets in the Versace photo (second one in post 3), but it's charcoal, highwaisted and a tad longer- probably a few inches above the knee (weightlifteresque legs do not permit short short skirts!). I wore it with heels, black opaques, a grey racerback singlet tucked in, and a black wool rollneck to work and it got a good response. I don't think it looked cheap or hookeresque- at least I hope not!

I saw that American Apparel has a stretch tube mini & now so does Urban Outfitters. I dont live near either store so will have to order online. Does anyone have any thoughts about which one would be a nicer quality? They are both about the same price. AA is made from interlock cotton/spandex & UO is made from cotton/spandex.

I got one the other day and I really love it. I wore it with my red tights and I thought it looked really good !!

You got yours from Urban outfitters? Is it the Lux one (I think they said its 12 inches long) they have on their site & is it really fitted? On the site some of the pics made it look like it stuck out a bit in the back near the bottom.

^No I didn't get mine from there because there is not one near me . I never think to check on the site haha. Mine is a lot like though and mine is VERY fitted yes. I got mine from H&M .

Did you get it recently? Ive been waiting for H&M to get one because I think it will be nice. I was there about 3 weeks ago & they didnt have it then but maybe they do now. I HOPE! I want black but did they have other colors?

^Yes I just got it on Monday and they had black and white when I went. I got a black one . There really lovely !!
