The "Plastic" Look

Yep Kim Kardashian defines the plastic look...I think she looks like a drag queen with butt pads.. I Prefer old Hollywood with Gorgeous beauties like Gene Tierney Or Hedy Lamarr...they make these plastic queens look..

Speaking of plastic and fake, has anybody seen "Sunset Tan" on E! TV ? It's one of those reality (sort of) type shows about a chain of tanning salons in LA. It seems like all of the girls came out of the same mold and do their faces in the same fake plastic way. I swear the "Olly Girls" have to be the dumbest humans on the planet.

I mean, how stupid do you have to be to show up at a public event in a painted on (literally) outfit:

Are they doing that at a children's fundraiser?!

I must say that i hate that look. I dont really wear make up at all. or just a bit. Up till now I havent seen a "Plastic look" that I like, but I dare you to convince me :)

Well, it's been fun reading through this thread. I watch alot of E!, so I'll say my favorite plastic looks are Kim Kardashian and Kendra Wilkinson (when she wears makeup, alot of times she doesn't wear much-and looks pretty all the same)

This thread has been quite the read...
I think what needs to be kept in mind is that the "plastic" look is just like the look Brad Pitt was sporting back in his Fight Club days... it's attention grabbing, exudes confidence, and is very sexy. The attention it's grabbing is "oh, I'd like to take him/her for a one-night romp" not, "Wow she is beautiful, I wish to treat her well and date her." There are some women who are able to transcend those categories and be both, such as Monica Bellucci.
I personally sport the "plastic" look (I have blonde hair and blue eyes but am very pale) when I am going out to an event of sorts where I want to feel and look sexy. If I'm going out on a romantic date, there's no way I'd sport it, but it still has its time and place.
I don't think it's fair to label the women/girls who sport the look as sluts or covering up their "natural" beauty for some self esteem issue. They probably wear the "plastic" look for the same reason men get rock hard bodies and do their hair in that strange, "spikey" 'do that I see all the time: to feel sexy, confident, and attract attention. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but the key thing to keep in mind is there's a time and place for that look, in my opinion.

Well, why would you need to attract attention if you had any confidence? And not all find the plastic look sexy. A lot of people find it plain ugly and tacky and not sexy at all.

I don't strut down the street sporting the plastic look and wearing next to nothing, because I don't need that kind of attention :flower: I honestly believe that you must be desperate for attention to do so.

I'll respond in order...
Attracting attention can be fun :) Just like winning an intellectual debate if you are highly intelligent is still fun, even though you are fully confident in your abilities.
Of course not all find the plastic look sexy. If there was one magical look everyone found sexy then it'd mean we'd have all become drones.

I didn't say that not wearing the plastic look is a bad thing... if you don't want to rock it, don't! But, if I want to have a little fun and play up my eyes and have a pale pink pout, I will (granted, I don't really dress "plastic"-like... I like to keep the goods covered). And, with many of those girls and with someone like me, even in more natural make up there is still some attention so I don't think we are desperate :)

Just like some women wear natural make up to rebel against the more "made-up" trends instead of being confident in their natural beauty, I am sure that some of the plastics do it because they are desperate.

It's interesting that in the 1920's, wearing tons of make up was a way of expressing your femininity and and showing your independence from men, who hated that much make up. Now it's the natural look that is expressing independence. As for me, I say screw both sexes and I'm going to do what I want B)

It's a personal choice. I don't have a problem with it either way, but obviously some carry it off much, much better than others.

I think Aubrey O'Day from Danity Kane is pretty. I like this light peachy color on her lips...(I'm not so sure about the dress, though )

that chic from dantity kane looks like the queen of plastic.....
the kinda trashy one...
just personal opinion...
not a big fan.

much prefer naturally gorgeous kind of look.

If you want to wear this look, do so. But don't wear it for others :flower: Although I find this look awfully tacky, I think it is the time for us to start judging person's (especially woman's) IQ by the way they look.

I hope you mean stop instead of start

It appears, just from what I've seen, that the women who do the p*rn star look are naturally unattractive and thus need the gobs of paint to cover it up  ex: Jenna Jamison looks horrible when she has no make-up on.

So what's wrong with doing this look then? I mean if this type or amount of makeup can make someone feel good about their lack of natural beauty, then why not?

I am not naturally beautiful, but I have felt pretty when I used to do the 'plastic look' a couple of years ago... it covered so much and totally transformed my features (although the way I used to do it was never as extreme as most of these pics!) and you know what, even though it was a sort of pseudo-confidence, it was a great feeling.

Everyone would always say to me, Why so much makeup? Let your natural beauty shine! Girls look so much better natural!!, ad nauseum -_- But they didn't realise that of course if I was able to look good natural then I would've stayed with a natural look. God, I would've killed to been able to look good naturally.

That said, I do do a more natural look now as I'm kinda past caring  Now I just wear foundation, some bronzer, and clear lip gloss.

ETA: I just feel it's a sad situation here. Without makeup many of these 'plastic' girls gets called horrible and whatever else, then with makeup they get called things even worse. I know there should be some sort of balance, but it just seems like in a looks obsessed culture you can't really win.

 She's had plastic surgery now (breast implants) but I don't know how much she's done to her face-her nose is just too perfect-but there's pics of her when she's only 16 (she's in her early 20s now) and she still had that same huge features/Barbie look..but with less makeup!

The Staci Cole girl looks pretty. She's a gorgeous girl and the plastic look works for her.

Her face is gorgeous and somehow the plastic look actually works for her, although I'd love to see her with more natural make-up. I bet she'd still look great.
