well it was a bit confusing, because I thought the WWD article said that the T by Alexander Wang collection would retail for under $40 which I thought was crazy low. Either way, they are aiming to different markets. A. Wang will be competing with AA, Splendid, Michael Stars, etc. Regardless, I'll be interested to know how their basic tee's are selling domestically with this price hike. I could see it going either way to be honest. Since they have such limited production and distribution, they probably aren't going to be left with loads of unsold merchandise and they may sell out to those who can afford basics at this price. On the other hand, they may find that even those who can afford may prefer to spend less to get RO or another high end basic brand and then just shell out the cash for the leather leggings, blazers, fur coat, etc. ie the big ticket items, which seems to me to be an inverse selling model of just about all fashion houses. But who knows.
Leyla - do you have any thoughts on this? I know you said the Row has always sold really well for you....
