The Row - The All-Things The Row Thread

Just look out for Rick Owens, Ann Demeulemeester etc. The Row is usually where those designers are.

Omg i'm about to die i just found out that my mum washed my white row tee in the machine. It's not sof anymoe and the chain now it's not gold but black and the whole tee has yellow spots.I cried like a baby for like 10 minutes

i'been triying to remove the yellow spots with products but it's not workin.I really want to post a pic of the tee but i don't want to make all you cry

Yeah I would take it to a dry cleaner and I'm sure they can sort it out. My dad did that once. He just went into my room when I was visiting him (I'm in my early 20's) and was mad or something that I wasn't doing laundry and just grabbed all my clothes and threw them into the washer and dryer including a Paul and Joe dress I had that is silk blend with loads of embroidery.

Yes i've alredy sent it to the dry cleaner and also the chain to a jewelry store to make it gold again. And yes that' just exactly what my mum did with all my clothes she was really mad at me for not doing laundry so she grabbed all the clothes and......

Dry cleaners will help you! My lady got tar off of a $7 Chloe skirt I found in a thrift store. I want their secrets.

i was at the barneys today looking at the new row stuff...i noticed that the hem was coming out on the bottom of the leather pants...then i noticed that the seams were GLUED!

it was such a shock that 2,000$ pants would have a glued hem or seam!

Glue is commonly used for hemming leather garments and to keep seams flat after they have been sewn. It is surprising that it would come lose even before it left the store though...

lmelanie,
last seasons were glued. this seasons are stitched.
however, glue is indeed very common for leather as it does the less harm to it. once it is stitched you cant go back.
i have to agree though that the "glue" was not holding the hem very well  but it is something you can have easily fixed by your dry cleaner..

The more expensive the item, in general, the more delicate and likely to be damaged, I find. I once saw an $8K Prada coat that was literally unraveling on the hanger in the store, but it was obviously very delicately sewn. The Row items aren't really constructed to be worn for more than a season or so, I find. I can see how some would view that negatively, but I still think they are totally worth it, because there really is nothing else out there like The Row. :)

Yes, I do find that to be a rather questionable fact, since all my Rick Owens tees 'age' well with wear/washing and I justify the considerably higher pricetag not only with a difference in style but also good quality and nice fabric - One should expect that clothing from The Row, which are being marketed and understood as transseasonal, sophisticated wardrobe staples to wear at any time, would be made in similarily great, lasting quality...

To clarify my point a little better - I understand the delicady of certain luxe/demi-couture pieces as this is often the consiquence of using particular sewing techniques or fragile fabrics - Rochas has had a duffle coat for once where the woollen fabric was in fact felted on Chantilly lace - an outstanding effect, since the lace would shine through very gently, but it was evident that such a novel fabric idea would probably not stand the test worn as an outdoors coat but rather as a cover-up for an evening dress.

^Very nicely developed point. :flower: I agree with your mention in the first post that Rick Owens pieces are constructed much "tougher" and actually wear much better with time as a result. The delicate chain alone in Row pieces is enough to anger borderline OCD people like myself because anything sewn in with a single stitch IS going to fall out - it's only a matter of time - and it really is the hallmark of the pieces. Anyway, I just won these white denim leggings on eBay:

They also have a cute little gold chain in the back, but it's not visible in this picture. I plan to wear them with ls crewnecks from The Row or ls crewneck cashmere from J.Crew and tall Lanvin boots.

I saw those earlier this week! Glad to see someone from tFS got them. I love the way you plan to wear them. ;)
