Hope nobody minds if I post pics from Suriname's "scene"
Just thought it would be fun to contrast and compare.
Somebody once wrote a scathing essay criticising Suriname and he made some very interesting observations. He described Suriname as a village that views itself as a metropolis. For me these pictures illustrate this. I get the impression that they're mimicking images they've seen on dutch party websites.
Fashionwise there's very little experimentation. It's all itty bitty tops and tight jeans with a big brand name slapped on it

Some interesting tidbits:
The photographer who took these pictures chooses his subjects based on their looks. Not suprisingly most them belong to the upper-middle class.
Suriname is so small that I know so many of his subjects by name or face.
And I am
not pictured in any of these. I'm not very outgoing. Besides, here it's all hip hop and r&b. There's no indie scene here, just "rocker" wannabes.
