I require some "mainstream" clothing so as to fit in during certain facets of my life (i.e, work or socializing with people from work). It's like wearing a mask....
People were getting weirded out by my predominantly black outfits (I believe the qualifier used to describe my style was "morbid"); I am now under a serious amount of pressure to conform. It's quite frustrating.

Can you find a way to add a bit more color to your 'real' style? I wear a lot of black, not so much because it's 'me' as because it's so practical, but there is always some touch of something else--metallic, today's it's ivory (and pink socks!), a color. There was that one day in Nov 2016 when I wore unrelieved black ...

of course I wear them with a boxy crop top so I'm the only one who even knows the corset is there, but I LOVE them!!!
they are much longer on me so they sort of bunch and puddle a bit around the ankle...

I helped my mom pick out a Canada Goose Gabriola Parka in black yesterday....

When I was an undergrad way back in the day, everyone wore The North Face (before it went all mainstream) to show off their "status"; these days people on campus wear Canada Goose.... Personally, I think it's just another fad. But, she loves it.
