Alice in Wonderland

Down the rabbit hole...

One pleasent afternoon, the young and seemingly innocent Alice was sitting in the meadow with her older sister Elizabeth. Elizabeth was reading the most boring book that Alice had ever heard, there were no pretty pictures to look at, just words and words, half of which poor Alice did not understand. So Alice decided to sit patiently and quietly until it was time to return home for tea...

(From Eugenia's thread, posted by lakomka)

Suddenly Alice saw the strangest sight she had ever seen. A white rabbit walked by, standing up right on his two hind feet and muttering quietly to himself. Alice could not believe what she had just seen. She soon found herself following the rabbit with interest, crawling silently behind him. He soon arrived at a rabbit hole, it was not huge but big enough so that a small person could fit through it, a person just like Alice. For one split second Alice hesitated about following the rabbit, where could this hole lead to? However she was so intrigued by this little creature that she simply had to find out where he was of too wearing his smart red jacket and his pocket watch. Little does she know that she is about to enter the most strange but fascinating place that she will ever know of...

''Pocahontas''

As you can see I chose to do something a bit different with this challenge. The story of Pocahontas is a story with many interesting themes such as living in harmony with nature and clash between cultures. However, it's also a story about a girl struggling with her own problems. When Pocahontas is still very young a marriage to a man from her tribe, who Pocahontas hardly knows, is arranged. Pocahontas doesn't want to and meeting John Smith only makes her even more confused. The thoughts bulk up and leave her torn and in an insecure and confused state of mind. She's going through what many women go through every single day all over the world though. And those are the feelings that Freja portrays her: insecurity and confusion.

Iselin Steiro 'Has got no strings' ......

The story of Pinocchio is a story of a kid with a good heart but also a kid who is weak-willed and doesn't always listen to reason - all in all, it's about how a lot of children are and behave in general. And it's about growing up, too! When Pinocchio sings "I've got no strings" we realize that he has his own free will which is part of being a real human being. But to become a real boy, Pinocchio must prove himself brave, truthful and unselfish and learn the consequences to his actions and poor judgement. And as we all know he succeeds in the end but he goes through a lot before then. Here Iselin represents childhood and everything that comes with it - things which are silly, fun, weird, awkward, stupid - all what it takes to one day become a real grown-up.

Querelle - Little Red Riding Hood

img

Little Red Riding Hood is a story that teahes children not to wander off the path. It makes a clear contrast between safe village world and dark, dangerous woods. Little Red Riding Hood is a young naive little girl who listens to a stranger - the wolf - and that is wrong wrong.

Ariel: [singing] Up where they walk/up where they run/up where they stay all day in the sun/Wanderin' free/wish I could be/Part of that world...

Ariel: If I become human, I'll never be with my father or sisters again.
Ursula: That's *right*. But - you'll have your man. Life's full of tough choices, innit?

Reviews

Gisele as Sleeping Beauty
Wow you really made this the entire package! Gisele looks wonderful, I love the bits of the story you included… and I like that even though Gisele is sleeping, she fits the beauty category and there’s still some sort of motion in the photo. Wonderful!

Erin Wasson as Peter Pan
:D:clap: I couldn’t possibly be more happy with this! You chose EVERYTHING perfectly, the dialogue, the font color, and most of all, the picture! This works so well, amazing amazing job!

Liya Kebede as Mulan
While I wish this was bigger, this works phenomenally.! I can visualize the part of the movie where this would go, and with her pin straight hair, a little bit of an intimidated pose and look on her, face, I Can see that liya is ready for boot camp…nice job!

Doutzen Kroes as Beauty in Beauty and the Beast
This is a lovely photo, and I can feel the sorrow in it. Let me just say though that I think we’ve learned that Doutzen can be a beauty through the other entries you’ve done..I think this could have been more interesting in maybe a different setting and with an actual beast..or maybe if you took a spin on things and made doutzen the beast for once. I suppose that I would have liked to see something different. In no way is this entry bad, just safe :flower:

Mariacarla as Snow White
Boho!! This is stunning! The description fits perfectly, and Mariacarla makes the perfect Snow White. I like that you gave some of the story so that the expression on her face and in her eyes even makes sense! Stunning!

Eugenia as Alice in Alice in Wonderland
:woot: One of my favorites so far! I think it’s clear that you really stepped it up this time and showed us what Eugenia can do! You found the perfect picture, perfect description, this is beyond perfect..amazing!

Isabeli Fontana as Cinderella
I like how the picture has that double thing going on…it kind of brings a shakiness and self awareness that shows not only the glamour of being Cinderella, but the worries as well. Isabeli looks great that outfit is perfect..great job!

Freja Beha as Pocahontas
I like the different take you took on this. I see the Pocahontas influence, definitely..but I think in a way I would have liked to see Freja in that nature environment..bonding with the trees and singing about the color of the wind! :p Because we didn’t actually ask for themes or a portrayal of emotions…I still like this a lot, but It’s not my favorite favorite :flower:

Iselin Steiro as Pinocchio
Ohh.I love that because of Pinocchio’s typically extended nose, you found a photo that has Iselin with other funny extended or outrageously positioned features. Her clothes are all a bit wacky, and the way her hands are positions shows perfectly her exlife as a doll! This entry is really wonderfully written, I love this!

Querelle Jansen as Little Red Riding Hood
I understand you had a hard time with this, but I think you found a pretty good picture for this! I do think I’d have liked to see querelle outside, but the fact that you have her with that look of bewilderment and that bright red top on is not bad at all! Could have been better, but nice entry!

Caroline Winberg as the Little Mermaid
I love how this looks! Clinging to the land with a dress on that makes caroline actually look like a mermaid! And the way the pearls are draped over her back makes it look like a typical mermaid’s garb! Nice dialogue choice, great job!
