ok, it took getting out of my apartment and trying to understand the lady in the intenet cafe, but i got it in...

it is a strapless jumpsuit made from metal venetian blinds. worn with a jersey bodysuit underneath.
it's not exactly symmetrical in the front, the individual blinds overlap each other at times.
in the back (see illustration), i decided to make the construction a little bit more haphazard.

that's it!

and welcome back HPL!!!

Judging time :magic:

Overall, well done to everyone for being innovative and adventurous with your designs and materials, much more so than I'd imagined. I love the materials that a lot of you have come up with, most of which I've never thought of utilising myself before and the ways you've implemented them into your designs are very clever :)

Rangerrick14: I love your use of opaque material with another material which is much more transparent. The constrast between the two is clever. Also I like your usage the materials in (suggestively placed) tiers.

Elegance.Is.Refusal: Great entry, the metal bodice is reminiscent of Issey Miyake's moulded bustiers and fantastic shape created by the sticking out metal parts.

Inaya: I like your inventive use of floppy disks to make the bag and the USB cable belt is quite forward thinking as well.

Prague: I love your illustration - it really shows off your design to the best. Your idea looks fantastic in your illustration, the usage of rubber tyres wrapped around the body in loose ways looks beautiful (regardless of how it will hold together and look in real life - in fact, almost all of the designs have been judged on how they appear on paper instead of how they will materialise because most of the designs probably will not hold together). The pink beads in the hair and around the wrists add a touch of colour and detail and the glass slippers look great with the tyre dress (in my head).

Perfect10: Great chain-mail like dress idea. The chain-mail combined with the amount of flesh revealed makes the dress sleek, classy and sensual. The ring colour and material is likened to that of tortoise shell and I could only imagine that if the dress was realised, the details and the tortoise shell material would be beyond amazing.

Pastry: I like your vertical strip jump suit - although I am doubtful as to how she would be able to bend in metal venetian blind material, especially when they're placed vertically. But aside from that, I find your idea intriguing and beautiful, like those stripy Balenciaga S/S 06 pants, but extending to the whole body.

It was a difficult choice to make as to who was going to win. I went over the designs many times in my head, and I could just imagine how beautiful each design would be if they were implemented, which was why it was so hard for me to decide. I mentally gave pros and cons to each design, and in the end I whittled it down to a final (still rather large) group of Elegance.Is.Refusal, Prague, Perfect10 and Pastry.

The reason I dropped Rangerrick14 and Inaya is because Rangerrick14, I felt that whilst your alternating material transparency usage was fresh, the design itself compared to the other entries was too simple to be a standout. Inaya, as inventive as your use of new materials was, sometimes I felt you went over the top, overusing computer media and such.

From the final 4, I thought about each design futher, like how they would look down the runway (perhaps during London Fashion Week ;)) and although each design look fantastic on paper, the only one I would picture being avant-garde and beautiful yet wearable and practical at the same time to a certain degree is Perfect10's design, something like this:

So Perfect10 is this week's winner. Congrats!

thx everyone  HPL, the rewievs was great :flower:

The theme for this week challenge is....

- fashion and politics -
Is it possible to express an opinion with a design?

Good luck everyone, I'm looking forward to see (and judge ;) ) your work!!!

THE QUOTE OF INSPIRATION
"The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire."
Robert A. Heinlein

Very structured on one side, very controlled, for those who want to be and in a royal navy blue.
The other side is for those with no desire, who dont care about the body, loose fitting and green

[ A little rushed :ninja: ]

Wow, amazing entry Jamie  so much depth and thought... and to think I'd originally planned to have just a t-shirt with "I am not a terrorist" written on it....:innocent:

it kind of reminds me of a certain balenciaga dress from f/w 2005.
one side of the bodice is constricted, the other one-droopy.
it's look #27...

yes, that's the one...

i stayed up untill 4 am last night, did quite a bit of research on the topic of fashion and politics....

i hope something good comes out if it. and most importantly i hope that i can find a scanner this time.
