Right, I think I've come up with something (I really hate this bit)...

The inspiration for this challenge will be The city you live in (or nearby). The idea is that you design an outfit based on the city you live in (or are from if you so choose). Not to be inspired by what you see on the people, but rather to be inspired by the history, heritage and architecture of your city. Negative and positive traits of the city is more than welcome ie. perhaps you're from Beijing: pollution, the amazing new birdsnest stadium and Chinese opera, etc could be your inspirations. Draw from all aspects of your city; paint a portrait of your city using clothing! Full outfits with accessories please. Please include a photo(s) of your city as well and maybe a little bit of a background on the history and culture, so we can all learn a little bit more about eachothers homes.

Any questions, please ask. Good luck to all!

Oh yeah, forgot to set a deadline... let's say 12 September or when we have five entries!

ooh looks like a hard theme! but real fun! c,mon people start sketching!!

SOO SORRY for being away for so long .. got overloaded work lately & that sort of makes me forget about everything :(...

thanks a lot strawberry daiquiri for judging, can't agree more with her decision :). congratulations thwick!

and the late reviews for all the delicious entries (sorry again for being inactive >.<`):

daniellat : chocolate dress
i can totally see the chocolate image in your design ^^. i love the shoulder details & the sequins add pretty details on the dress. the earring looks pretty also, and i love your idea of wearing just an earring instead of two..its also very suitable to wear to the event you mentioned :)!

perfect10 :
tea dress

creative theme choice & design! tea & its old english cup are perfect combination :). the red hair compliments the color of the design. bright. quirky, and very daring.
i'd love to join the event also :D. i'm a fan of mad hatter :D.

pudding dress
the dress is pretty and shows the pudding image in a not so obvious way. i think it suits the wearer's characer also.
and... i love your illustration style :)

aaron 95 : cherry muffin dress
your dress looks so yummy muffin like :D! i especially love the bag but the pleats of the skirt is also nice. the colors and the shilloute are really suitable for younger girls. i believe your sister loves your design a lot :)

couture.retouch : sushi dress
your sushi dress is awesome. loves how each component of the outfits can be separated and worn with other items easily yet look so well put together.
the black dress with white details on top and bottom reminds me of nori & sushi rice ^^! the shoes is also very in style but still my favorite piece is the dress!

thwick : sunday roast dress *the winner*
i always love when a design can show the image without being too straight forward :). the top with ruffles is very pretty and your two pieces design gives a fresh alternative to wear to formal events other than one piece dresses. the choice of the materials are also perfect. the shoes an small bag adds great details to the outfit ( i would love to wear the shoes for sure!). the woman wearing this exactly won't be seen as a mutton dressed as lamb ;D!

-------------------------------

all of you have done a GREAT JOB :).
sorry i ruined the round by being inactive for so long.

this round's city theme is very exciting, i'd loove to try to join after my work storm is over..

Daniellat, ah good, I was worried it may not have made sense (cos it does atleast in my head). And there's no rule saying only newbies can win, I'm sure you'll have another good chance! :)

And I hope this thread isn't dying again... it's been a week and no entries yet!

I haven't really had time to do anything. I started school again, and got a job. Plus, I don't know much about my city and it's not very inspiring :ermm::lol:

hudiksvallmoljen.jpg

Since I am new in Hudiksvall I dont know so much about the city; spirit, history, fashion-sense, art, arcithecture, etc.... and I have so much to do in school (I am finallt studying fashion!) so I asked my classmates what they have for expression of Hudiksvall.

- I never got the answer, but the city is called GLADA HUDIK, wich means HAPPY HUDIK (Hudike is a shortning for Hudiksvall )
- People in Hudiksvall are proud and stubborn
- The city has mainly wooden houses and buildings
- The style of the city is a mix between new and old. they keep the old style and add teh new
- Unfortunaly there isn't so many jobs left in Hudiksvall so many youngstrers move away from Hudik to largers cities.
- an it small, small small! Only about 15 000 ppl lives here!
