not into it AT ALL.. but i can see all the fashion kids going crazy for it..

Oh dear, first Gaga let the world think that Armadillo shoes were Alexander McQueen's life achievement and now she's going to make Thierry Mugler trendy for her Little Monsters? Gimmicky is the first word I want to spit.

it's very basic, which is to say, rather boring. the only time i went 'oh!' was with the 3rd look.

the pants might be wide, but not in a sexy way. where's the allure?

if the clothes aren't basic, they are unappealing. they fail to hit a nerve with me.

at points i even thought Giannini's Gucci was better.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about the gimmicks. There's probably as much "gimmicks" going on here as let's say... collections done by McQueen, Galliano, or Gareth Pugh.

but what those designers have is when you take away all the gimmicks you're still left with some well and inventively constructed garments..

Hum .. I definitively see very much McQueen for Givenchy (couture) on this collection. There was an interest play on proportions especially on the pants, but as noted before, there is no humour.

Mugler is tongue-in-cheek and everything is dead serious. I would like if they would have pumped up a bit more the collection .. still pretty nice and wearable. But ... hum ... and some of the fits on the jackets do not quite got sold on me.

Unfortunately there's nothing new and sparkling in this collection. There are many references from previous collections from top designers that you all have already mentioned. I can't predict it's success, but one thing I'm sure, was mounted a successful advertising strategy around, and we know already what we can expect in the next issue of Vogue Homme Japan...

Most definitely. I just feel like Lady Gaga and all her hoopla will die out sometime in the near future, and Formichetti will fall with her. I don't understand why the house of Mugler feels the need to attach themselves to something and someone so of-the-moment and temporary. It's not much worse than the Ungaro/Lohan debacle. Granted, the collection is not as awful as those two unfortunate Ungaro seasons were, but this collection wreaks of pretension and relies far too much on the work of more established, more talented designers.

It's not Mugler for me...But somehow u can't do the same futuristic clothes. They need to sell it.
The clothes scream Kremer and Nicolas, the clothes itself is really Kremer plus the " Nicolas " styling...I think it go pretty good and I'm sure there will be a lots of press for this collection. I really love the fabrics mixture..Bizzare in a good way. The coats are amazing, Not bad for a debut. The only problem for me is they should change the name to Mugler by Nicolas + Kremer. Haha, maybe that's better

Hrm, not bad... not bad...
Sure, it all feels very done but I found it overall good, which is surprising to me because I was already expecting a hot mess.

And yes, there were gimmicks all around - which I think it was what made interesting the show, so they relied a lot on these - but personally I didn't think they overpowered the looks...
Though, those white veils that almost looked like plastic gave me the creeps, as in they were choking or something :ninja: Distracting!

What Kremer or Formichetti does is their choice and fault. If they choose to be "inspired" by Lady Gaga, then I don't see why people feel the need to continuously bash her and undermine her talents and what she has going for her. Really, they should redirect their annoyance to Formichetti and Kremer; or even better the owners of Mugler.

Another thing, I think I've said this before, but isn't this their first collection for Mugler? It's a bit boring and basic compared to what they could have done, but they already stated that they're gunning for commercial success; especially with a brand that really isn't well known by the general public.

The orange suits still aren't pleasing to me. They just look off.

I think the collection is not bad, we can only predict what'll be on its second season but my only hope is that people will talk more about the clothes rather than the music by LG. Because if that's what it's turning into then it this show becomes a spectacle for her, instead of the music helping the show.

The only thing is I think most people were expecting a bigger spectacle much like what the original T.Mugler used to be with all this hype.

Hi, people!

Ultra here on moderator duty!

Please remember that this thread is about the Mugler collection. Post referring to Gaga (and her haus) will be deleted. I know this particular collection has a lot to do with her, but regretfully, this is the Designers and Collections forum and we all must stick to the rules (even little monsters like myself).

Thank you for understanding and please, carry on!

I don't think it's great, I don't think it's awful. It's got some cool pieces, got some gimmicks, but at the end of it, I think this team has potential... after a few seasons.

That being said, kudos to Nicola for landing this gig. If they were going for stylist as director, tho... why not Panos? I guess maybe cuz Nicola has more 'fashion followers'?

A few sheer polyester veils and grim, full-on tattoed guys don't make for a clean, fresh break - The clothes do otherwise look pretty classical and, dare I say, conventional, if you take away the not-for-sale latex gloves, obscuring masks etc.

I really have my doubts if there was any interest in getting that fashion business rolling again, taking into account that Clarins, the owners of the house of Mugler, are mainly operating in cosmetics and fragrance. But, as we all know, media spectacle sometimes helps to boost sales in other product tiers...

From the pictures Ive seen, the show has some moments but maybe not strong enough. At the moment, I cant decide from this show what Mugler is going to be or where it's heading. There's nothing really defining I feel, but what do I know. I do think that some of these pieces will get some press - especially the jeans that Rico(?) was wearing in the released images.

they are saying that a video will be released to show the collection; why did they wait so long? they should be quicker- this collection is one of the most discussed collections for the menswear season- i dont understand the hold up. as simple as some of the designs of this collection are- i can't help but think, also keeping in mind certain deleted posts in this thread, that the musical direction of the show is overshadowing the actual design- which shouldn't be happening. waiting to see the video; would like to get a better feel of the collection, as the runway images leave little to be judged.

too much hype you think?

So ...
The video was more like a music video than a fashion video as I did not see much fashion. That's unfortunate as seeing key pieces in motion usually helps to enhance my love or hate of a piece. Instead, I am feeling indifference.
