Tips On How To Sneak Into The Shows...

This thread is wicked. Hopefully it will help me get into some of the Australasian shows, but going by what other people have said it shouldn't be too hard, and if not I can always hang on for a standing space.

Tickets to L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week will be available on the website. They haven't released the festival program yet, but the black and purple booklets should be available from boutiques soon. The tix are usually about $40.

i remember a friend of mine had an invite to the s/s 06 fashion week through her nyc modeling agency, which was kind of cool (though i forget who it was, a smaller one)

does anyone know how to get contacts to help out as a dresser, or even sewing on sequins, etc? i would actually LOVE to work a little backstage for the sake of experience (as well as seeing the clothing, of course!)

also, there must be some way fashion students can get in...
does anyone think i have a fighting chance if I bring my expensive DSLR camera, dress nice & bring a Parsons ID?

Just say you are the intern and get in the back by the make up artists. You are the "dresser" and then sneak around once you are in. Or, say you were just in there and left your purse from the show before.

^ have you tried doing any of that? these seem like pretty sure fire ways

in my opinion, if you exude confidence ad just walk in, no one will care.

has anyone tried asking the bouncers nicely?

Yeah, if you walk in, like you are sure, it helps. For my ideas anyway. If you can cry about losing your purse, that has your meds in it, that is even better. LOL
I know they have a list for dressers, but just play dumb and say that you were told to go there and need to be there...etc
I have worked backstage at shows and sometimes your name isn't on the list, but have managed to get in. Even though, I really was supposed to be there---no one really confirmed it. LMAO

you know i wouldn't be surprised if they gave you a ticket if you just called them and said you're a big fan/client as they are still small. also if you are a big client in cph at some boutique tell them to ask for you.

imgworld.com produces the olympus fashion week so you could write them for volunteer apps. they usually need people to be dressers and to help process people at the checkin at the hotel. if you are a fashion student, ask your instructors to write in and they are way more than accomodating. i know who the contact person is in l.a. so pm me if you are intersted.

i personally wouldnt go to a show w/o invitations. dont know...it's a bit overzealous and embarrassing over a fashion IMO.

i did a little online research and i'm going to give 7th on Sixth a call sometime this week, and ask about volunteering. i managed to find a PR firm or two that needed assistance as well, so hopefully that'll be my ticket in, otherwise i'll ask around and see if my instructors at school know anything about it.

so i have my fingers crossed!

Hahaha - I tell my friends how to get into shows all the time - I have snuck into the biggest and best - McQueen in Paris - Prada in Milan - where there is a will there is a way - best way is to act like you are supposed to be there and insist you rsvped and then if it fails just go stand in line with everyone else and push your way in. I sneak friends in all the time. I once got 5 people into a show with no rsvps. London is the easist by far and paris is the hardest. But trust me anyone can get into any show if they are clever enough. =)
